Every hour or so I have to sign back into my Google account . . . my husband said he's having the same problem. What's up with that?
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||dspencer1953||3/16/09 5:53 PM|
I'm having the exact same problem, what's the point if I have to keep typing in my username and password? I have checked "remember me on this computer" but it doesn't matter. FIX it or dump the platform it's getting to be more trouble than it's worth? If this some half baked measure to try and get users to switch to Chrome? Forgetaboutit

Why isn't Google answering this?

Can you answer a few questions please?
Please list your URL
Please list the browser you are using
Have you had this trouble using a different computer (say a friends?) I would try a neighbor or friend's computer and simply log in and work and see how long before it "logs you out".... if that is not a problem, then I would tend to think it is a setting you have on your computer with your browser. I have never experienced that problem with my site. I use either IE or Firefox. Please list the information and give this idea a try and see how it goes while you are waiting for additional help.

This is a user forum, and only occasionally will you see activity from Google employees. It is intended to be a platform to users to interact with other users.
The "Remember me..." option is a feature that remembers your username. It is not intended to keep you logged in forever. My personal opinion is that this is a good thing. Of course, I'm generally security conscious, so I don't see a problem with it.
That said, I doubt Google will see this as a problem.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||Julianuevo||12/22/09 4:15 AM|
I use Google docs, Analytics, Adwords, Gmail, AdSense, Base and Google Wave as well as the calendar and messenger for work and I am finding it extremely irritating that I am constantly being logged out. I use the Iceweasel browser and until about two weeks ago it all worked perfectly fine. What the heck..
And I am not the only one, all the other guys in my office are having the same issue. The 'home' button in my browser takes me to google.co.uk/ig which is customised to how i need it so I can quickly access all the Google features I have been getting used to using regularly.
This is a massive step backwards so inconvenient that I will need to re-think if this is not fixed soon.
The more people report this issue as a nuisance, the more likely we will be heard, keep posting your frustrations with this.

Where does Google respond to these complaints? It's very annoying.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||BarelyHangingOn||4/11/10 7:19 PM|
I just upgraded to Windows 7 so there is ie in my quick links, ie on my desktop and google mail notifier in my tray.
When I logon from a fresh start I have to login to mail notifier. If click the notifier to go to my inbox I will stay logged in sd long as I surf from that browser.
If I open any of the other browser shortcuts I have to login again and it logs me out every hour or so.
It is the most annoying thing I have seen. I see nobody has any interest in fixing this.

I'm on a Mac using Safari. Gmail will automatically log me out sometimes after 10 minutes, sometimes after an hour. What the heck is going on here? Why won't Google respond to this problem?
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||ggnarl||5/7/10 11:51 AM|
What chaps my hide is that I have to log in to gmail and voice seperately. I use the voice extension and it requires a seperate log in. I guess when you are on the bleeding edge you get some blood on you sometimes.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||Keithmtx||5/11/10 1:59 PM|
I'll add my experience. I have access to multiple computers at office and home. It seems as if I stay logged in, if I use the same computer for days but when I switch between computers the problem occurs. I want to them to all stay logged in. I use Firefox on a Snow Leopard mac and Safari on an iPad. A real headache.

Are you using firefox?
If so, go to preferences and unclick 'clear history when firefox closes'. If you clear your history everytime firefox closes google forgets you everytime firefox closes.

Same here. IE8, Windows 7, cookies set to accept all
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||MikeyTheNub||11/26/10 11:11 AM|
Umm the problem is probally this, i just figured this out. You're probally signed into google.COM and you're going to google.CA so just sign out of the one you're signed into and sign into the one you use more often.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||marcd7||11/26/10 5:54 PM|
Canada? Don't think so.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||Dunetop||2/28/11 9:37 AM|
Same! Google seems to have no explanation even when you Google it - you'd think someone there would read these things. Also, I have to keep resetting the password (even using the same password) and have them e-mail it to me.Woof!
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||FishBone777||5/21/11 9:08 AM|
I am experiencing the same problem, whenever I try to login on Adsense using my iPad, their app closes down. After entering your username and password and hit sign in it automatically closes down. Something's wrong, I hope someone out there will look into it.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||SabrebIade||9/12/11 9:29 AM|
Having the same problem here.
Cleared cache and cookies, Firefox doesn't clear on exit, G-mail notifier disabled, all passwords saved etc.
I'm using Windows 7 and Firefox 4
It also does it with Chrome.
If I get a new apssword, it works until I close my browser, then I have to sign in all over again.

Same thing here, it is a pain and I do not think it is even a security thing, just a pain in the you know what!!!!! If you want to have your password saved and stay logged in that should be your choice, should it not?????? Please fix this , I love igoogle, or rather use to, guess will have to change out,as this is a total mess!
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||netfrank||11/6/11 9:10 AM|
This problem just started happening yesterday! What the hell is wrong with Google? Do they have a solution for this? Are they implementing stupid security policies like Windows Vista? I hate this! The hell with security if any of your elite google hackers are reading this please change this now... I have multiple accounts with you guys and I need my ALL of my cookies set to 1000 years... I don't care about security as much as I care about convenience! Please, be nice to us and set our cookies to permanent so that we can be logged in 24/7... We have more important business to do than to play 'James Bond'... Change it now!

I have various google products and i hate having to log into Google every single day. I have been using Chrome since 2009 and I wish they could just sort this out. Whats the point in having G+ linked to google homepage if i need to log in every other startup. Please google sort this out...
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||rgray528||11/25/11 1:27 PM|
Please try this code within your gmail bookmark. This trick works perfectly for me.
After you edit your Bookmark with the above URL code it should ALWAYS automatically log you in (it does for me), and I have had this stupid problem for a very long time until I did some research. Now I am always logged in automatically. Please be careful as other people who use your computer can now simply find your login credentials by looking at the properties of your Gmail Bookmark, but if your like me and no one else uses your computer, this is a great way to get rid of this annoyance. Good luck...

I'm on Chrome and I have the problem too. So it's not browser based
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||cieloblu||2/9/12 3:56 PM|
Thanks for the code for G Mail. What is the code for Google Reader & Google Calendar? Google makes me sign into everything every time. In the past it would stop doing it, but now it is really bad.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||mallbritton||3/2/12 4:03 PM|
If anyone does what "rgray528" suggests you will be transmitting your Google password out across the internet all the time in clear text. Anyone will be able to intercept your userID and password and get into all your Google services. This is a very, very bad idea. Don't do it.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||PersonalGenius||3/9/12 6:21 AM|
I have multiple accounts - a personal and a work account. It used to work fine, but now every 2 minutes it tells me that I'm being signed out for security reasons because "someone else has signed into this browser". Yeah, I know: ME!
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||sherrie rris||12/30/12 5:48 AM|
I guess Google isn't responding to our concerns because they must want us to move our accounts to their competitor. I'm at that point now. If I don't get a response soon, I am going to use someone else for my search engine. They don't seem to care about our concerns, why should we stay with them?
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||William Carstedt||1/1/13 5:09 PM|
So do we! It's most annoying, and a should be a real disgrace to Google! Moreover, sometimes when we try to sign back in on my wife's computer (a model identical to mine) it says that sign-in hasn't been authorized by the "administrator" (we have no "administrator", they're our own home machines!). We have had no trouble with anything other than Google - even though this forum may be intended for users rather than Google staff, you'd think Google would be aware of the problem and dissatisfaction and do something. Woof!
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||kamalb||2/6/13 4:49 PM|
Also having this issue. No updates on why ey? Could it be related to keychain?
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||james.palik||3/7/13 2:34 AM|
How do we get Google to address this issue? Any ideas would be a great help.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||KD7CAO||5/13/13 8:40 AM|
I too am having this issue but I am actually running the current version of Chrome. I work in a government office with websites that only work well in Chrome. I have to maintain a Google+ account for work on top of that my Google Chrome fights with my work Google Chrome so now all my computers have synced their address books, my Google + pages are now linked. It is a real nightmare. On top of that I am having the log out issues too.
|Re: Why does my account keep signing me out?||Joe Dougherty||8/27/13 6:46 AM|
Folks, this may be a bit off-topic, but there is a solution to KD7CAO's issue. Google Chrome has the option to use multiple accounts. I have a personal Google account, and my company uses Google Mail and other services for company stuff. In the settings for Chrome, you can set up multiple accounts, and use a little cartoony icon to identify each one (you'll see the icon in the upper left corner of the browser window after you log in), so you know which account you're using in that window.
If you're using account A and want to log into account B, you click on the icon and a drop down will show you the list of Google accounts you have registered. Click on the other one and a new browser window will open for that account.
If you have Chrome closed on the system and click on the icon to open the first window, it will open the last account in which you were active. You can then click the left-corner icon and open a window for the other account.
The menu on the top of the browser window will activate only those features for that account. So if you're using account A's window and you click on Drive, it will open that account's Drive in a new tab.
If you set Chrome to sync your settings with Google's cloud, your settings will follow you when you open Chrome on another system and log in. The browser will even load the extensions on the new system.
Hope this is helpful.
