With more and more information to manage, we could all use a little extra help to get more out of our day. With the updated Google Search app for iPhones and iPads, we hope we can save you a bit more time each day — so you can spend it on more interesting things.

Here are a few new things you can do with the updated app:
  • Notifications - When there’s important stuff that you need to know right now, Google will now automatically send you a notification. For example, while I was busy getting my son ready this morning, a notification appeared on my lock screen telling me that I should leave for his dentist appointment right away because of a traffic jam.

  • Reminders - You can now easily set reminders for yourself, and Google will even notify you when you're near the location for that particular task. So if you say "OK Google, remind me to mail the checks when I get home," you'll get a notification as soon as your house pulls into view.

  • You no longer need to comb through email to find an upcoming flight’s boarding pass or the tickets to your next movie or concert. The updated app will simply show you a Google Now card with your tickets when you arrive at the theatre or airport.

  • Finally, even talking to Google got easier: when the app is open on your iPhone (4s and up) and iPad (2 and up), just say “OK Google” to ask any question out loud and get instant answers spoken back.
The updated Google Search app is available internationally, but reminders and “OK Google” hands free voice search work only in English for now. Everyone can enjoy the overall feature updates starting today.

You can download the updated Google Search app with Google Now from the App Store now — open it, sign in, and you’re ready to go. Don’t forget to drag it to your tray so it’s always handy.

Cheers,
the Google Search team

How in the fuck Google know what is important for me is my fucking inbox...is not working for me and I need to access my inbox ASAP. This is ridiculous I been trying for the last 45 minutes to see where in the fuck my mail went?

Hi there. Was very excited about this, but reminders and 'ok google' not working on my iPhone 5s with ios7. Works fine on my iPad 2 with identical settings.

Would appreciate any info or thoughts you may have.

Many thanks.

Hi,

I'm using google search apps on my iPad. I just wonder how to open several web pages at the same time by creating tabs. Somebody willing to help me?

iOS 7 was released on September 18th and it's not like you didn't have access to earlier beta versions. It's December 2nd now. Isn't it time you give your Google Search app an iOS 7 makeover and, for example, get rid of the iOS 6 keyboard?

Does not work on android every time I try to type it locks me out the keyboard!
Another useless update!

Enjoy and find the voice responses very useful.  I am having some freezing iPad ios7 issues, and also with Zagat, which I believe is run by Google. Hope that you fix those issues.

This app is still rated 4+ and even with ios 7 updated parental controls your children can still access inappropriate content. This app must be given a rating of 17+.

I cannot get google to load on my tablet since the update was done. If I remove the update and go to factory settings I can access google. I also have a problem that over time the update is automatically done again and I must remove the update to access google again. Can you give me some help finding out what is going on, or is this a problem others are experiencing?

I agree!  An age 4+ rating is ridiculous for this app. A child can access everything the internet has to offer using this app. Google needs to address this immediately and give the app an age 17+ rating. I love the app but I want an accurate age rating so that I can restrict the app on my kids iPhone.

Hi Google, I think the concept of this app is phenomenal.  It really could be a game-changer.  I have some ideas on potential upgrades and functionality.  How could I submit them?

Matthew Glynn:
You can submit ideas to Google using this form.

The app doesn't even work at all now. If I want to google something I have to do it via safari.

Hi there,

I have an iPhone 5 which according to the google website and post above means your can now set reminders, however I am unable to do this on my iPhone. It works on my iPad mini but not on the iPhone.

Has anyone else had this problem or know a solution?

I appreciate any help as I have been googling this for days.

Thanks
Liam

It sucks.  I have removed it.  I cannot get it out of the list of apps to update.  Sorry, fix it, and I might consider re-installing it.  Till then it is off all of my devices
