|Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||6/14/14 9:22 PM|
Can we move on? The soccer doodle is getting really old -- gives new meaning to the term "yesterday's news." There are a LOT of people who aren't soccer fans. How long will you monopolize everyone's browser with this game?
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Shannon...||6/14/14 9:35 PM|
Can you post a screenshot? Usually doodles only last for a day.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||6/14/14 10:06 PM|
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||akaase||6/14/14 10:18 PM|
I could NOT agree more with you. Besides the fact the doodles are FIFA-related (which I also couldn't care less about), these doodles are actually TACKY. They look like they're done by a first-year animator learning Flash. The doodles have moved from being creative inspiration to tiresome and mundane predictability.
Honestly, Google needs to severely downsize the Doodle thing because it's getting stupid. Instead they should have one maybe once every three months or something, and make it special.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bluequoll||6/14/14 10:41 PM|
Be prepared to see a football related Doodle every match day during the 2014 FIFA World Cup, which runs for another four weeks.
A few suggested workarounds for desktop/laptop:
• Search from the browser address bar instead of the Google Search homepage
• Search from the results page instead of from the Google Search homepage
• Don't use the Google Chrome browser New Tab Page
• Install the Adblock Plus extension with Element Hiding Helper and block the Google logo
• To stop animation, use Firefox browser with the Toggle animated GIFs extension
• Install a user script such as DoodleGone to replace the Doodle with a plain Google logo
• Use a proprietary or personal homepage instead of Google's
• Use a different search engine
I'm sure there are other ways to avoid seeing the Google Doodle.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||6/14/14 11:46 PM|
Oh god. Four more WEEKS. Maybe Google should have a special post-soccer season doodle dedicated to the millions of Google users who gouged their eyes out rather than look at the "artwork" that some Google employee's 12-year-old nephew dreamed up after getting high on Ritalin.
I came up with better ways to stop Google's soccer doodle engorgement lunacy:
-Class action suit requiring Google to reimburse the millions of Google users who purchased Wite-Out or Liquid Paper to paint the upper third of their screens.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bluequoll||6/15/14 12:00 AM|
How about a competition to find the most innovative way of avoiding the Google Doodle? I'm sure a couple of those would qualify!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Shannon...||6/15/14 3:46 AM|
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Johana Marquez||6/15/14 10:58 PM|
I am so with you on this.
I get it, it is the world cup..but just like the world series..NOT EVERYBODY WATCHES..I am fine with one day of the Glorification of an sporting event, but not the current idolization.
I miss the days when Google doodles was about featuring the sometimes forgotten genius who's contribution many were not aware of.
Oh well it was inevitable, Google has become obvious, corporate, establishment.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||6/16/14 10:52 AM|
Google has also become scandalous. Hey Google, you can have your FOUR WEEKS of a lame soccer doodle, but you have to give back for it, day for day.
So, in the spirit of "don't be evil," when the soccer gluttony is over, you have to post four weeks of video of Sergei with the Google Glass marketing manager.
Take that! Pow!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Nate Hubbard||6/16/14 8:39 PM|
I'm pretty sure google would rather we don't change our browsers default page, but honestly that's what I've done to avoid the constant soccer crap.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||SoccerooFan||6/17/14 5:29 AM|
Why not just putting a doodle of a match in those countries like Brazil v Mexico in Brazil and Mexico and Spain v Netherlands in only Spain and Netherlands. Probably too late to have that idea but they should have done it.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||grosenavmars||6/17/14 7:06 AM|
I am SO tired of the stupid soccer doodles. I am changing search engines... goodbye Google.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Laura Bobora||6/17/14 7:46 AM|
I am so glad it's not just me. I love sports, but enough is enough already! Other search engines are calling my name (and they don't have the incessant, idiotic, kindergarten level soccer drawings ).
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||DiGiMac||6/18/14 1:51 AM|
This gets my support too. First day OK. But every day for weeks is just too much.
15 of the buggers already!
I found 12 or 13 for the 2012 London Olympics but I didn't remember it being so many.
Great tip about using the firefox homepage

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||debann||6/18/14 7:30 AM|
I agree! I'm not a sports fan and these endless daily world cup doodles are annoying. And not interesting or fun. Why Google Doodle? Why??
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||mrgood||6/18/14 8:14 AM|
Apologies for getting a little off topic, but the admins killed our thread and sent us here (Admins, I’m not sure that was a good idea, as our complaints/requests are wildly different than the ones expressed here, but anyway...)
To add to the chorus the voice of the people the doodles are aimed at, the ones who do follow the sport. Our complaint is not with the existence of the World Cup doodles, but with the manner of the doodles.
To the Google developers, please stop showing game results in the doodles! Many of us have to record the games and watch them later after work hours. By blabbing results like that, you're ruining the games for us, forcing us to avoid the Google main search page altogether.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Rita Durfey||6/18/14 10:26 AM|
best one yet!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||6/18/14 11:00 AM|
Wow, Google not only moved us to an irrelevant forum (along with other people who are complaining about the excessive soccer doodles) but I noticed they have redirected all of my searches for the doodle forum back to this site.
"Don't Be Evil" origin: Buchheit, the creator of Gmail, said he "wanted something that, once you put it in there, would be hard to take out", adding that the slogan was "also a bit of a jab at a lot of the other companies, especially our competitors, who at the time, in our opinion, were kind of exploiting the users to some extent."
Google can hide from their own corporate moral standards, but they can't outrun Winston Churchill:
"The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is."
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ShakepearesDaughter||6/18/14 3:28 PM|
Agreed...those red, yellow, green, blue colors are tiresome to have to keep looking at, and I have to admit I always disliked a browser with animation. I just want it to sit there and be uncluttered. I switched to DuckDuckGo for a while, but some of the stuff I research daily doesn't show up there, so I always end up reverting to Google, even if it annoys me. Gotta do my work and get paid, after all.
And of course there is the fact that I hate sports in general, never mind soccer. NOT ALL OF US CARE ABOUT THIS THING.
I've been using Google since the late 90s and wish Google had an easy way to opt out of the circus graphics they impose on us! A kill switch as it were...then those who liked the kiddie crap could look at it and the rest of us could have a nice, boring adult browser that doesn't stand on its head all the time and say "Look at Me". Possible?? Does anyone know how to display Google as a browser and cut out the animations?

I agree that the soccer-related doodles are getting old, and many of them look basic enough that someone could do them after a crash course in Flash (seriously, an octopus? why?!). There is a lot more in the world to celebrate than the World Cup.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||phree0||6/18/14 11:28 PM|
got rid of the doodle by using this link as the home/start page on my browsers:
yup stole the idea from another conversation about the doodle annoyance.
a fine solution for firefox and chrome home page
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||VO1||6/19/14 4:08 AM|
I agree. There are lots of other things going on. For one, in the US at least, the month of June is Gay Pride Month and it would be nice to see a doodle honoring the struggles and great advances of the LGBT communities.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||felixcat||6/19/14 4:56 AM|
I can't stand those soccer ones either. Hey Google, how about a box that lets you decide whether you want to see doodles or not? Click yes for doodles and no, for none. Simple.

I'm just going to change my home page until its over. I'm not going to put up with a month of this. I dont even like soccer or any sport for that matter. I use to love seeing something new and learning interesting facts when I saw a new doodle. Meh. I did learn something new from this however. The World Cup and the Stanley Cup aren't for the same sport. Hurray. NEXT!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Anna Strait||6/19/14 6:54 PM|
STOP! PLEASE?! No more of this infantile doodle. I think the Doodlers are down there getting drunk, so can only remember their basic teaching.
If you are going to do two doodles a day, make the main one something interesting. Then you can post the Soccer Doodle ONLY DURING the game! how brilliant is that?
I am starting to think Google got PAID by FIFA to run these. It would not surprise me at all. In that case, I don't ever want to go back to using Google. Who wants to deal with a company that would take bribes?

Glad I found fellow sufferers inmy quest for an Off button, but OMG, four weeks of this idiocy? BORING and annoying. Oh wait, maybe Jeff Bezos paid one of the artists/children to hack into Google and plant the malicious bouncing ball...surely Google can't be doing this on purpose? If people go away for four weeks, a lot will not come back.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Greg Gambone||6/20/14 12:12 AM|
If you're using the Chrome browser on your desktop, it's very easy to remove the Doodle (and pretty much everything else, too). Just install the "Custom Google Background" extension from the Chrome Web Store. In addition to letting you pick your own background, you can also hide any of the other items usually displayed on the page, including the Doodle.
But, I usually only use Chrome, so I don't know if you can do this on other browsers.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||MegaDeborah2000||6/20/14 1:41 AM|
Are You Getting Tired Of Google's World Cup Doodles? More than just a glorification of sports, they are a thinly veiled glorification of globalism, at a time when many in the USA are tired of foreign wars and foreign aid and are becoming increasingly isolationist in their politics, and want to focus on domestic concerns. This month long fixation on the World Cup is a break from the long running agenda of Google in pursuing its humanist agenda by spotlighting the contributions of various scientists and other benefactors of humanity on their prospective birthdays. This past Easter I asked the question, Is Google anti-Christian? Google has recognized Halloween every year since 1999 in the USA and globally since 2003; However, Easter has been ignored since the year 2000, and Christmas is only acknowledged every year with a happy holidays greeting with no reference to Christ. Personally, I am not an isolationist, nor a fundamentalist Christian. I just want information from Google NOT global humanist ideology shoved down my throat.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||(unknown)||6/20/14 6:50 AM|
Most definitely, Google has 'lost it'. Soccer is slow, boring and only beautiful to the dimwitted fans who cannot follow anything moving faster than a snail. Personally, I go Canadian - for something to keep you awake and thinking try the CFL. Not to be confused with the wimpy NFL version. HA!!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||DS Kent||6/20/14 7:33 AM|

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||lif||6/20/14 7:45 AM|
Google doodles are getting really old. It was one thing to have a new one occasionally, but this every-day stuff, and this animated stuff is just so annoying. I want a sleek, mean, effective browser, not a play-toy.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ShakepearesDaughter||6/20/14 7:51 AM|
I suggest when it is Hockey Playoff Season they have weeks of just a puck flying around the screen. I semi-like hockey (it's the only game that I can picture myself playing, assuming I could get over my physical gawkiness). Just the puck, bouncing around, sometimes flying around, caroming off the edges of the screen. What d'ya think? Annoying enough for the millions who care nothing about hockey? And do it for, like, six weeks until the Stanley Cup is awarded. Just the puck, doing "puck stuff". I bet NHL would pay them to promote hockey this way. And Google is foolish enough to let 'em, for the right price!

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||michael_f_patty||6/20/14 5:05 PM|
You know, I don't mind soccer (or "football," as the rest of the world calls it). It's not my favorite sport, but it's not un-enjoyable.
But having an entire MONTH devoted to the cup is just a tad...um...over the top? I don't think the OLYMPICS got that much google-doodle attention, and hat reached a much broader sports demographic. I get the distinct feeling that someone at Google likes soccer. Bully for them. But giving them an entire month is unfair to all the OTHER wonderful things happening this month, as "VO1" pointed put earlier.
So, sadly, enough already. They were fun, at very relevant when they started. But it's time to move on.
Sorry Google. Love ya, but I had to say it. :(

I am SO with you! I don't care for the Firefox Google search page, but I'm severely tempted to go to it until this highly annoying soccer doodle nonsense is over. It's nice that the U.S. is joining the rest of the world in advancing soccer, but ENOUGH ALREADY! Those of us who don't watch it don't like having it shoved in our faces day after day after day. If you were a Democrat or Republican, would you enjoy seeing rabid propganda from the opposite party constantly bombarding you? (Hmmm... maybe there's a Microsoft mole on the Google staff, hoping we'll all switch to Bing.)

I am not a soccer fan, and the doodle are getting old but lets not pretend soccer isn't popular around the world. It is th emost watched sport. As far as I'm concerned, Google is an Irish company, since that seems to be where their money is.
That said, today is Ambrose Bierce's birthday, and I think making people aware of him is far more important than an event that everyone knows about and is on most of the news.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Jermsgood10||6/24/14 8:24 AM|
Only Americans would say, "who CARES about soccer?!" as if it's like this puny little sport. This is one of the largest sporting events for all the world, and last I checked, Google doesn't just serve white middle-class Americans.

I agree completly... I love Google Doodles and I have learned so much from the tantalizing histical references. I love having a daily image, silly game, tribute or story to spark my interest. I see yes there is a world cup. Yes it lasts a long time. Yes half the world love it. Roughly half the world is made up of women too and I don't want to focus on those issues every single day for weeks. I'm bored with this... What else you got?

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Jagulep||6/24/14 4:32 PM|
Actually, the soccer doodles are cool. Even Americans should be able to grasp that concept. I'm Australian so I know better than any anyone that soccer's the second most boring game on Earth. But anyone who can't conceptualise the fact that a giant 'B', representing the boss, walking past while the letters G, o, o, g, l, e are watching the World Cup on the TV screen so they have to quickly change channels to the stockmarket is cool needs to be put in a blender and the blender switched on. Anyway, u Americans watch gridiron - the only game known to man to be more boring than soccer. I watched the Superbowl and they played for about 2 minutes over a half-hour period and the rest were requested time-outs. Watch the Google letters doing stuff, they are awesome. Viva Google doodles! Have a nice day, everyone.

This worked for me:
From Gregory Gambone on Google Forum:
As for your smartphone, it sounds like you're starting a search by opening your mobile browser to google.com (like you would on your desktop). Instead of doing that, use the Google Search bar or Google Now app. The search bar can be added as a widget so you can initiate a search right from your home screen (or any other screen). The Google Now app is pretty awesome because all you have to do is tap the icon and speak. The app will do the search for you, so you don't have to type anything. (It also does a lot more than just search.)
I also had to check "Hide Goodle Logo" and "Hide Doodle Icon"

Don't mind G Doodles normally, so i don't want to block all of them...but this soccer animation really bugs me!
AdBlock Plus will indeed disable the doodle during your browsing session, if you close out, you'll just have to right click and apply the filter again...quickly!
Before the bouncing ball takes two hours to score one point!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||J Applic||6/25/14 9:42 PM|
yep, gotta agree. For all of the supposed creativity and free-thinking that Google kids the world it is famous for, these soccer doodles are pretty bland and overdone.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Anneli Blom||6/25/14 9:59 PM|
I agree! I have no interest whatsoever in football games. Imagine if Google would put up doodles of horse jumping for a month? Or different knitting doodles for 30 days? Argh.
Change the theme already, and never use the same theme for weeks on end.
And I should NOT have to install stuff or fiddle with my computer settings because of doodle spam.

I am totaly suprised so many people have a problem with this Doodle. Americans: get used to soccer in a few decades you call it football. Demographics will let you adopt this beautiful game the rest of the world likes so much.

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Bob Smiths||6/26/14 9:20 AM|
I hate all these world cup google doodles because its so blatantly self-promoting for Google. They're trying sooo hard to basically tell the world ... Hey look how cool we are because we're sooo internationally "with it" for celebrating world cup! Its the exact same thing with all their other stupid random pointless doodles celebrating obscure people and things that nobody cares about, but it makes them seem "quirky" and "hip". World cup google doodles, as with all their doodles, is a lame marketing gimmick to get people to think that google "has a heart" and is "cool and hip". They are not, they're just brainwashing all of you, and most people stupidly buy into it.

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||wwwwttttffff||6/26/14 11:29 AM|
This exactly. Google wasn't interested enough in the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup Final, NBA Final, or World Series to do doodles for those. Even this year's Winter Olympics only had a single doodle.
Google only cares about sports that give it hipster cred, like the World Cup and Cricket T20 World Cup.

I tried DuckDuckGo, and while it's OK I guess, I really am used to and like Google's search engine. So a guy at work said why not use Startpage. I tried it and LOVE it! It keeps the Google search engine but without the in-your-face doodles! No more disgusting Piccaso-esque soccer reminders, AND as an extra bonus, it's private so there's no extra overhead with Google profiling me. I'm sick of all the marketing intrusions into my personal space, so maybe this will help reduce them.

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bluequoll||6/28/14 6:56 PM|
If you have feedback about Google Doodles, you can email it directly to the team at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I've found the easiest way to avoid the Doodles on a desktop or laptop is not to open the Google Search homepage at all. I just search from the browser address bar. For the times when I'm forced to open the Google Search homepage for troubleshooting here in the forum, I've written a rough-and-ready user script called DoodleGone. You need to use a browser that can run user scripts (e.g. Firefox with the Greasemonkey extension, or Chrome with the Tampermonkey extension). If there is a particularly annoying Doodle (or run of Doodles in this case), just enable the user script for the day (or month!).

The next day, Monday, July 14, the earth will purge herself of this useless obsession and you will wake up to a fresh, clean, no balls browser.

Google does not keep Doodles in front of anyone — the only people who will see the Doodles are those who exercise their own free choice to open the Google Search homepage or the Chrome New Tab page. There are plenty of alternatives for those who genuinely don't want to see the Doodles — just stop complaining and take control of your own browser!

How much longer are these soccer doodles going to be going on? I'm really tired of them.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bueno40||7/3/14 8:00 AM|
Well, well, well... so some narrow minded people got their wish. Half of a planet was enjoying the soccer doodles but Google gives in to this kind of whining and do away with it. Congratulations. I don't care for soccer and I am a Brazilian but there is something going on the world that is being enjoyed by billions... I mean billions of people. Here is something worth quoting fromthis article:
"The United States may not yet be a soccer nation, but the number of people who sat down to watch soccer in America on Sunday is bigger than the population for 75 percent of the countries in the entire world. (If I could italicize that line for effect any more, I would. I would.)
There is no way to read the television numbers in America for the World Cup—even the non-U.S. matches are doing five and six million viewers for some bigger teams in the group stage—and come up with any way to perpetuate the "nobody cares about soccer" trope that haters of the sport have been spewing for decades.
That's over. People care about soccer in America. Some of them may only care for one month every four years, but they care. And they care a lot."
But you narrow minded easy to get annoyed whiners come here and cry like babies trying to find a way to not see the doodle... oh my goodness... you could not even work anymore! Come on! Grow up! Or better... calm down, take it easy. It is something Google was pleasing most of the planet with. Just like everything else destroyed in America by minorities, here you go. Like they say in the beautiful game....
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Goal of the whiners and they win the match.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||robgambrill||7/3/14 9:00 AM|
Sorry you are taking it so hard. As I said before, for a lot of us it wasn't "Soccer Doodles" as much as "Everyday Doodles".
By the way, I can't seem to find any formal statement saying the Soccer Doodles have been taken down. Are you sure it isn't just some delay?
Lastly, Asking for a way to turn off the doodles isn't evil, it is just a request for a customization option. Nothing more, Nothing less.
Enjoy the World Cup and the rest of the Summer!

I'm guessing the logos, along with the games will return tomorrow.

I am all for YOU being able to look at inane animations on your Google page - whatever floats your boat! BUT, I don't want to look at that juvenile crap! I used a site blocking program to get rid of the animations. What I get now is NO LOGO if they are dispensing their Soccer Doodle. If not, I get the normal Google heading! Thank you to the person who posted the suggestion.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Matthew Anton||7/4/14 7:58 AM|
I actually loaded up duckduckgo yesterday because the animated doodles are getting extremely annoying. Just keep it static (the doodle images) and it won't be a big deal, or give a way to turn it off as others suggested.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bobbik||7/4/14 8:59 PM|
Personally, I've gone back to the Firefox home page. Even for those that enjoy soccer (yes, that includes me), staring at animated soccer doodles for so long can indeed become a little irritating(particularly for those that use Google multiple times a day). Good thing we have nice alternatives (like bookmarking the Firefox start page)!

bueno40, we (united states) don't care. I can promise you that. Not a single person I know has mentioned a thing about it. The ratings probably come from bars, restaurants, and tv stores airing it, because no one here cares.
I look forward to seeing something different almost every day from google. An interesting moment in history, or something significant happening around the world. Google has the ability to impact a lot of people by just a doodle. It can inform millions of people. Everyone already knows about football. If you don't know about it, you should by the 10th day of doodles. It's pointless information. The people who watch it already know.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bueno40||7/7/14 4:52 PM|
I am glad I found a spokesman for the whole United States. I would like you to check your offices where you find out that not a single person cares about soccer in the United States and verify please why half of the people that went from abroad to see the games in Brazil went from the United States. Half!!!!!!!!!!!!! I drive around my neighborhood in the United States and I don´t see people playing baseball, or football, or golf, or basketball. All I see is soccer, soccer, soccer. I don't care about soccer. I came to America to see kids "playing ball" as I saw in the movies, but all I see is soccer. Dang! Where is this United States you are talking about? The Doodles are not trying to explain soccer. It is just something fun when there is a games. By the way, Google expands beyond our borders. If it is to please only the Americans that do not like soccer it would be very limited in scope. Be a sports. It is going to be over soon.

I've lived in St.Louis, NYC, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and I travel for a living so I see a lot of places. I've never met a soccer fan and I've never seen much soccer played. I've seen more hockey in the middle of the desert than I have of soccer anywhere else.
I don't care if google posts a doodle about soccer. I don't care if they post 2 or 3, but to have one every day, to me, is excessive. The anniversary of the civil rights act was the other day. Something people should celibate.. something the world should see. But.. there goes another soccer doodle.

With all the problems in the world, this is what all of you have chose to complain about? With all the poverty, sickness, and corruption in the world, this is what troubles you? Just use a different search engine if it bothers you that much.
Google does not owe you anything.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||(unknown)||7/8/14 7:25 AM|
Yes! Enough already!! Got it - everybody but the us is crazy about soccer. Got the message, let's move on
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Heather Ferreira||7/8/14 8:32 AM|
I used to wonder why most people are indifferent or somewhat hostile to soccer. Force-feeding it to North America is unlikely to change this. The World Cup has now become the two-day guest who by day 40 wouldn't leave.
Please, Goog: stop.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||robgambrill||7/8/14 10:23 AM|
Google doesn't owe me anything. I am just a user/customer. They have the right to put anything they want on their search page.
Having said that, I don't care for the stupid doodles. I know how to block them. I think it would be great if they gave users/customers who would rather not see them the option to turn doodles off.
As for "Civil Rights", "Anti-smoking", and "Poverty, Sickness, and Corruption" as well as all the other suggestions for doodles, spare me the "cause celeb". Most of the logos are so bland and non-controversial that they end up being nothing but poor P.R. for Google, inc.
And don't me get going on what "passes for art these days".
The answer to the problem is to block the doodles if you don't care for them, and I am merely suggesting turning off doodles would be a nice customization option that Google could provide. I don't expect that to happen, but it would be nice to have a kill switch.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bradweir85||7/8/14 10:55 AM|
I've already mentioned this twice on the thread, but on the anniversary of the signing of the civil rights act, there was a soccer doodle.
So your attempt at slandering people opposed to this by tactics of questioning their caringness to graver subjects is countered in your stance.
Again, Google has the ability to reach millions of people and raise that awareness, but from the looks of it, they continually -day after day, after day, after day, keep on with soccer instead.
The United States has the most giving citizens in the world(statistical fact). For anyone to be defensive of the doodles as if their 'owed it', just shows the importance of these other crucial subjects.
Yes this troubles me. More importantly, the way the lower-class of Brazilians are being treated and their voices stifled just so they can have their precious football games in a poverty stricken nation. Good for you -good for football fans.

|Make it Stop. My sanity depends upon it.||Leslie.eagle||7/8/14 1:35 PM|
I love soccer. I played for over a decade. I too am sick to death of looking at that logo style every single day.
I don't think Google realizes how much we browsers enjoy the surprise education we get from the daily logos that tell us about a person in history or a place or an event.
I am literally going through Google logo withdrawals and I want it back! To put the daily outcomes of the various games in a soccer tournament ABOVE the daily spotlights we have become accustom to which highlight various aspects of our entire history as a species is extremely disappointing. I feel let down every day and now I'm fully annoyed due to the length of time this has gone on.
Put it in perspective, Google. I want to know about an inventor or author or musician or an artist or an earthquake or a volcanic eruption or a discovery when I spend a minute to find out what Google has to say today.
You are depriving your public of their daily information fix. Please stop. In some ways my sanity depends upon it. Browsing to Google Search and reading about something I didn’t know about is a small but necessary escape from my mundane existence. This has gone on too long now. Just put the scores in some links under the logo if it is really that important to you but please, please stop with the World Cup logos. I'm begging you. Give me back my history. I can’t take this anymore!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||bffrox56||7/8/14 1:56 PM|
Soccer is like OKAY! I mean enough already, and a don't think HALF the population cares enough to keep putting up with the STUPID doodles!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could care less, my family are basketball, football, and baseball fans, that are actually FUN AND EXCITING to watch! I agree with o91764!
|Re: Make it Stop. My sanity depends upon it.||ajkrueger||7/8/14 2:19 PM|
I completely agree with you, Leslie.eagle!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Cnocmordain||7/8/14 2:41 PM|

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Jose Nario||7/8/14 4:19 PM|
yes-- enough is enough! the doodles used to be special. this run has been tedious.
on a related note, Bing is actually pretty good!

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||RTMDmd||7/8/14 9:55 PM|
I am so sick of the soccer doodles. Every god damn day a soccer doodle. Please stop it already. No one in the US really gives a shit about soccer anyway. I am so sick of the World Cup. Who cares anyway? Can't we move on? I get it, google loves soccer, blah, blah.

Well !! ... I have made bing.com my default search engine for this full world cup period ...
These doodles are really irritating me a lot .
Google must take care of the feelings of rest of the world , who dont like this game .

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ihateinstant||7/9/14 11:28 AM|
Wow, re the adblock fix. I'm going to try that. If it works I will be very thankful.
I don't mind the doodles so much (although still annoying..l and random... and uninspired... and endless); it's the ANIMATIONS that kill me -- so annoying and so distracting. When that rubicks cube one was up i thought i might have to kill myself.
Anyway, would be great if google offered a way to opt out of the doodles OR at least those painfully annoying animations.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Allison Lance||7/9/14 11:52 AM|
a month of soccer, how about celebrating a month of ramadan logos (and i'm not even islamic). I'm really over the cute-sy soccer doodles.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Tanner Woods||7/9/14 12:15 PM|
And they don't even make any sense...really annoying!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||mudilty||7/9/14 12:36 PM|
I am with you on that one....finally one thing that ALL REAL AMERICANS CAN UNITE ON. WE SHOULD BUILD ON THIS..... we have far more in common than we have differences.... what do you say folks? all of us who were really born here to our real American parents and those of you who did the work and became a very real and honest part of us........let us stand up together and keep the US safe and sound. after all it is OUR country...for now.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Thunder71||7/9/14 12:56 PM|
Been thinking the same thing Erwin.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Nancie Jeanne||7/9/14 1:04 PM|
Yes!!!!! Every single day??? We didn't see this kind of thing for the world series or superbowl (and Google IS a U.S. company, right?) Soccer is dumb...I was hoping the U.S. would lose so people could forget about it again. :D
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||robgambrill||7/9/14 1:15 PM|
Oddly enough the US did lose and they are still showing the doodles.
This story says that when the U.K. lost they got excused from them....

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||iigrisii Rodriguez||7/10/14 2:59 AM|
Love them too!!! I actually do the google doodle search wish I could collect them!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||an angry Texan||7/12/14 12:05 PM|
I, among many others, are very, very tired of the Google soccer animations. There are actually a lot of people in the work who could care less about soccer and the world cup, me included and this could very well make me switch to Bing or whatever due to the abject insensitivity of Google to the rest of the world. You don't do this for the world series in baseball or any other sport so why soccer? I hate the game.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||not a soccer/football fan||7/12/14 12:09 PM|
I agree! The reason I use google.com as my homepage is because it doesnt have very many images and it loads quickly. I am going to have to change my homepage since the world cup animations cause more lag than a simple animation should ever cause. GOOGLE PLEASE STOP!
-not a soccer/football fan
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||7/12/14 5:20 PM|
It's almost over, everyone. Tomorrow (Sun, 7/13) is the last freaking game. Hang on, this weird, rude obsession by Google and a few soccer heads is almost over!
We get our browsers back Monday!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||starbase121||7/12/14 7:02 PM|
I could not agree more! I'am sick of soccer and Google both! Enough Google Enough!
In the meantime,I may have to find something else for a new home page. Tired Of It!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ChrisG_UK||7/13/14 12:57 AM|
I have a visual impairment that means that animations on web pages cause me a great deal of discomfort. Unfortunately today I was confronted by the Google home page for about two seconds. It hit me like some kind of evil weapon. I still feel slightly disorientated almost 30 minutes later. Horrible. Please, Google, have some respect for your customers.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Seitenmeister||7/13/14 1:59 AM|
sorry to hear that, then you should check out the answers:
it is most likely that doodles will be animated in the future.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||TheDogtowner||7/13/14 3:00 AM|
Soccer sucks. Why do you wall flowers continue to subject us to this crap? Pull your pants up and let's all move on.
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Peter Chatteris||7/13/14 5:18 AM|
Really? Half the population of the earth cares about a game that consists of overpaid twats falling down and writhing in agony over some little shove... it's a game that at amateur level is merely boring but at a professional level is pathetic in the extreme. Personally I would like to see any soccer player on a rugby field... good grief they would fight with their handbags!!~!

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ajkrueger||7/13/14 6:18 AM|
This entire matter shows how much GOOGLE gives two chitz about it's users! They are catering to a demographic - NOT in the US, though. It is a good search engine and they willingly turn our data history over to any authority who asks for it... Google, please show me where I approved your data mining!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ChrisG_UK||7/13/14 8:23 AM|
I have gone for blocking out the doodles completely using Adblock Plus. I really don't know where I would be without that extension.
In the past the doodles were an art form but those days are gone. As others have said they are now far too frequent, tacky, ugly, and for me they are extremely unpleasant. I think they reflect very very badly on Google.

|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||Erwin Rommel||7/14/14 10:45 PM|
We got our browser back today! Congratulations, everyone, for hanging in there, despite Google's insensitivity, lack of common sense and incredibly bad intentions. As the OP of this thread, it was good to hear from you all. Maybe now Google will learn from this and do a doodle on freedom!
|Re: Enough with the soccer doodle!||ajkrueger||7/14/14 11:07 PM|
As I said earlier, this entire routine shows how much the idiots at Google really gives a damn about the users! They can jump in a lake for all I care and take the BITING soccer player(s) with them!
