Google have lost the plot yet again. On the 4th August is the centenary of the start of The Great War. Who do Google think worthy of commemorating, John Venns 180th birthday.

"Doodles are the fun, surprising, and sometimes spontaneous changes that are made to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers, and scientists."
I don't see any mention of commemorating sad or tragic events. However, if you can suggest a "fun" way to "celebrate" the outbreak of the Great War, please email your suggestion to prop...@google.com .

Obviously you & Google have a different outlook on our world than I do.

Don't identify me with Google. I was simply quoting Google's approach to their Doodles.
I'll be reflecting on the outbreak of World War I in my own way.

I could not agree more! It's a disgrace.

I agree — World War I was a disgrace!

Totaly agree, although its difficult to mark such a sad day, the day should be remembered none the less, this is a day in World history that should never be forgotton but remembered. Maybe just the Google logo made of Poppies or somthing. 9 million people plus died and they see fit to remember someones birthday i have never heard of.

Maybe the small black ribbon would be more appropriate.
Poppies are really reserved for Nov 11th
Also , most would say that the Great War started on July 28th,
not on August 4th when Britain declared war.

Totally disgusting. Google have blundered again, as they did with D-Day (blaming it on some fictional technical hitch - yeah, right).
