Google has decided to keep iGoogle? Wrong!
iGoogle closes on 1st November.

There is no suitable alternative? That's entirely up to you!
These alternatives have been mentioned by various users/webmasters:
ighome
NetVibes
Protopage
My MSN
My Yahoo!
iGoogle Portal
uStart
Webwag
PortalPanel
iGoogle4u
Widgetshome
Startific
StartMe

See the iGoogle Alternatives Discussion for discussion of these and even more alternatives.

If you want to protest hit them where they feel it. Start using yahoo or some other search as your homepage.

Why, why, why??? get rid of igoogle?????? Very sad and frustrated multi-google product user. I've wasted valuable hours testing replacements. Nothing as good.
Re: You've decided to keep iGoogle, right? There is no suitable alternative. Thank you! Brinke 10/1/13 9:29 AM
because  they do not care about end users.  it's all bottom line.

Hate to say it but it looks like I'm going to have to go with MSN. Never thought I'd see the day. Very disapointed with Google to say the least

iGoogle is awesome. Must not be a money maker for them, otherwise why would they kill something so useful and liked by so many?

Google or igoogle have been my homepage for years. The handy calendar app is right there--I don't have to click on anything and wait for an app to load in order to access it. I can read the comics I've subbed to--again--without having to wait for something to load. News headlines, freebie links, etc--the stuff I wanted and only the stuff I wanted was right there. I could access my Google Drive, email, etc all in the same place. I liked that the page wasn't busy (I hate flashing ads and clutter), that I could change the background when it suited me, etc.

But for the first time since I discovered Google better than ten years ago, my home page will be something that is NOT Google. This is not the end of the world (first world problems and all that), but it is supremely irritating.

Remember Windows 8?  Remember how well that went over? Not all of us are using mobile PCs. Not all of us are interested in using apps on our PCs just so we can access google-tools. The new approach is not attractive nor is it anymore useful than what we've used for years.

I see no reason why Google can't keep an excellent website like iGoogle. They announced it more than 1 year before, but I haven't been able to find anything like it on the internet and there is no easy way to export all the data from iGoogle.

Thanks Blueq for at least providing some ideas.

And Sual M., I agree, delete chrome and switch to yahoo.

Why does google keep switching things up, really?  Including gmail and maps?

Soooooooooooooo disappointed.

My yahoo will slurp your igoogle settings in directly and give you basically the same thing minus google chat.  It's just funny because i haven't considered using yahoo in years.  The comments on igoogle replacement by google are ridiculous.  The main use case (widgets with rss news feeds) can not be replicated through google chrome new tab page ...  id expect something a little more logical from google.  Perhaps google just wants to help out their ex employee marissa with some extra business.

larsbars, trying my yahoo out now, it seems like a viable alternative.

It's real similar, you can import some stuff not all but they seem to have alternatives for the ones that don't import.

Good point, Yahoo places 1 ad on the page for 1 of their other products.

Google please feel free to copy Yahoo if it means keeping iGoogle

Fantastic job listening to the end consumer Google.  You are truly geniuses and we plebes need to just get in line, follow orders and do what you tell us to do.  Seriously, those dumb customers don't know what they really want anyways right?

What we need to do is spend 6 hours attempting to install 32 different Google Chrome applications from the app store in order to replicate a tool that we were perfectly happy using because it tailored a home page, with the exact content we wanted to keep updated on, in 1 user-friendly and aesthetic screen.

Your solution is fantastic, we'll all get right on that.  We'll just use Chrome and download 32 Google apps right now!  Oh wait, we'll just switch to Bing or Yahoo because they're 32x easier?

Way to listen to your customers!

Google's failure to monetize the code they sling out is leading to completely dissatisfied customers.

Instead of discontinuing a very popular product, a rationale organization would figure out how to monetize their product - ideally before throwing the code out the door.

There are examples of similar portals that drive revenue.  You'd think Google could figure out how to make iGoogle a profit maker...

F you google.  Was a HUGE fan, now regularly dis you on FB, Twitter and all social media.  Will NEVER use your lame apps.  Used iGoogle for years.  You will regret the day you threw your fans and loyal users under the bus.  Good luck, not.

I have tried (tested) pretty much all the alternatives and I just can find something that really 'works'.
Does anyone know how to setup Google Calendar in "igoogle portal"? (if that is even possible).. and how about GTalk? can it be added there too?

F*ck you Google!!!

Last plea to deaf ears....

I have tried EVERY recommended replacement. Some better than others but none have everything I am accustomed to:

Wide columns when needed, narrow when not.

Google maps that are sticky to where I live and open with traffic when set that way

Weather displayed for the top 8 places I travel to

A really good proportionate display of my Google Calendar

A really good narrow column display of my daily stock activity

Good links to my other Google services like +, my friends online, etc.

I think its a foolish move. Will make me think at least twice about anything else Google in the future.

~Bob

You are going to loose two more viewers of google here.  Retiring igoogle means, we will go somewhere else.  Goodby.

It's ok to reevaluate your decision to shut down iGoogle.  Read all the requests, this has been my homepage since it started.  There is no alternative that comes close.  PLEASE DON"T CLOSE iGOOGLE.

If Google really drops iGoogle, I will change my search engine to Startpage on Nov 1.

I have no patience for this kind of disregard for customer preference.

It's not even possible to replicate an iGoogle homepage using Chrome and apps.  I've tried for weeks now.  I'm not sure I'm even going to wait until Nov 1 to change my search engine and uninstall Chrome.

I have switched already to My Yahoo!  Why would Google want me to leave their platform?  Seems odd to me- I'll miss iGoogle

your google apps sucks and won't replace igoogle. How many clicks do you want me to do to get to the freaking calendar and gmail preview.

This decision is so bad that i hope many people will switch to yahoo or whatever else as their search engine...

My start page will be My Yahoo, but i'll always remember that Google let me down and will never trust it again because who know when they will change their mind.

All these useless little changes in the mail and other google apps just make things more complicated for absolutely NOTHING.

anyway  you suck big time and have a bad day
