|Femal muslim bloggers with head scarf on Google authorship question||Kousar Batool||9/10/13 5:28 AM|
Hi guys, i am a female muslim blogger ... I have many posts ranked on first page for highly competitive keywords... My question is regarding google authorship. I had performed all what is needed to link Google authorship to my posts so that I can get my picture next to my articles, I had also tested the tool provided by Google to see if Google can verify my authorship. It is in fact verifying my authorship, but still my picture is not appearing on search results. I had read Google requirements for picture an i fit them all, I was wondering it may be that Google is not showing my picture due to the HEAD SCARF I wear because of my faith. Can a google staff help me clarify this point.

Sorry to hear you're having problems - you're probably in the wrong section but I'll try to answer it anyways if people at the SEO Academy can't answer it for you.
Your icon with your head scarf is appearing here. I am very confident that your issue is probably more technical than discriminatory. Make sure you've followed all the steps - it can be confusing. There is also a tester below to see what Google is seeing.

Thanks for your reply.
http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets I had tested this tool and this tool is verifying my authorship but it is not appearing on search results in Google.
Can you guide me to how long does it take for Google authorship to show on search results after implementation.
Your help will be much appreciated.

(I responded in your other thread and then noticed this duplicate. Thanks 'black belt')
Just checking, you do mean headscarf as shown in your photo here? If so I am confident that is NOT a problem at all. I would be outraged if it were a problem.
I do not know the detailed requirements for "authorship", but it would not surprise me if the face of the author needs to be visible enough to be recognizable by people who know that person.
In other words, an image that could not be submitted by someone else pretending to be the named person (e.g with the face totally covered by plant leaves/branches or a hat or a hoodie or a motorcycle helmet).
Numerous posters have had problems with getting "authorship" to work they want it to, and I think there will probably be some technical issue/s involved.
Unfortunately, it's not my area of expertise, but I am absolutely confident that any problems you are having regarding the above photo being used for "authorship" has got nothing to do with your wearing a headscarf.
I may be wrong, but I think that if the photo is acceptable for Google+ it is acceptable for "authorship".
I hope this reassures you a bit. I only wish I could diagnose the "real" problem, if any!

If it's any extra assurance, I'm a pretty technical guy and it took me a couple of tries to get it to work correctly. ;)
I provided to you a link where you can check to see what Google sees. What I've found is that it is sometimes very difficult to get it to kick in. Here's what you should probably do - a good checklist.
1) Make sure you've listed your domain/site on your Google Plus profile in the "contributor to" section. It's really confusing to some but it looks like you've found it.
2) Make sure that you've got your meta tags properly entered. I entered mine like this, some don't have a trailing slash but they both work.
This worked perfectly for me - try it out and let me know if it worked.

I don't see any link to a Google+ profile ( https://plus.google.com/115135607791546378079/ with rel="author").
You'll also need a link to this site from your Google + profile page in the contributor section.
Mind you use the non www version since that how your site functions. Also ensure you use the correct links - I see you have several links to the same website, different urls in your contributor section. Also a link to Gmail which is odd.
All that is needed to establish the authorship link.

Thanks dor your reply, the site owners are using wordpress google authorship plugin, i thinks thats the reason you can see rel author in code. However the tool provided by Google itself is verifying my authorship but it is not appearing in search. I guess it is matter of time before things get sorted out. However I will be patient for now and check it for another couple of weeks.
Your help is much appreciated.

Well I saw no rel="author" in the code, nor any mention of plus.google.com urls.

Hi Kousar Batool,
Thanks for posting your question on the forum.
The way you set authorship on your articles seems technically correct on our side and we do recognize it. The headscarf is not preventing your photo from showing.
However, recognizing an author tag does not mean that it will show up in the search results page.
Google doesn't guarantee to show author information in Google Web Search or Google News results.
For more information about authorship, please refer to our Help Center articles:
