|'ERROR PLEASE TRY AGAIN': GOOGLE IS TOTAL CR*P: WHY AM I READING 5000 POSTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES???!!||angry google user||4/27/12 2:00 PM|
This is the first time I've ever been on this forum; all I wanted was to find out WHY, ever since Youtube got totally MESSED UP by the Google idiots, every time I try to post a comment, I get 'ERROR PLEASE TRY AGAIN'. I am shocked; horrified, furious and speechless to find literally THOUSANDS of posts from angry frustrated users, listing the SAME PROBLEMS over & over & over again, some of them going back years, with the occasional post from some so-called 'Google employee' saying 'don't worry guys we're fixing it' - when clearly nothing is being done at all... WHY has this bunch of incompetent idiot cretins been able to totally MESS UP a lot of applications (Youtube, Picasa etc) which were working perfectly okay before? I am a busy person & need to have several e-mail addresses; now, all of a sudden, instead of being able to go easily from one to the other, they've all been 'taken over' by Google & I get thrown out the whole time due to the idiot Google World Dominance strategy (and yes I DO have 'Multiple sign-in' activated; Google is unable to even understand what that means - IT DOES NOT WORK). One of my dearest wishes is that the whole useless time-wasting, rage inducing Google empire would get blown up & disappear; it does not work & has totally messed up the entire internet experience for thousands of people. I would actually like a response from one of these useless 'Google employees' please.

How depressing. Can ANYTHING be done? It's so soul destroying seeing these hundreds of hopeful people posting the same issues over & over, yet clearly Google couldn't give a toss about the crap quality of their products & service. It seems like the internet needs some kind of 'oversight' body - like an Ombudsman - to whom official complaints can be made about rubbish companies like Google; especially when they have effectively given none of us any choice; we're stuck with them because they suddenly decided to take over & link up all these applications, but we were never asked for our views about what they were doing.

What exactly are you trying to post? YouTube forbids any sort of web links, HTML, excessive single characters (spam), "www," and many other things. Make sure you're not trying to post something that isn't allowed.

'YouTube forbids any sort of web links, HTML, excessive single characters, www, and many other things'.
As it happens I was TRYING to post the name of an artist appearing in a video - but WHY does YouTube 'forbid' website addresses? I'm sure it used to be allowed before the Google gestapo take-over. Let's face it, many people only post videos in order to publicise their website / attract people elsewhere; what is the problem exactly?
I am also pretty sure that not every single one of the hundreds of people who have posted about this problem were trying to add web links? E.g. -
I could go on and on....

>>but WHY does YouTube 'forbid' website addresses? I'm sure it used to be allowed before the Google gestapo take-over.Why? Because it's policy. It blocks spammers, porn dealers, and those posting links to virus sites from flooding comment sections with illegal and/or dangerous links, among other things. And it's been policy since late 2005 / early 2006, long before Google took over.
It's called spam. Comment sections are for discussions, not for promoting websites.
Some of them have tried posting HTML, some have tried posting email addresses, some have posted "sub4sub." Some have even made casual mistakes. And if you'd actually bother yourself to read some of the ancient threads you dug up for reference, you'd find that they are A - often about temporary bugs that lasted 3 days and were fixed years ago, or B - answered many times over, just as yours has been answered yet again here. Rarely has any such thread gone UN-answered.

ANMOOSE - Can you answer why my, and many of the channels I regularly comment on, have our comments pages show a '500 Internal Service Error' since yesterday?
There doesn't seem to be anyone mentioning it on these forums, or anywhere else..
|angry google user||4/29/12 9:47 AM|
Right, So you have no means of telling the difference between spam/porn and a genuine attempt to provide some useful additional information about the subject of a video (which those viewing it may find interesting and helpful); like - er - Yahoo/Hotmail/ etc....?
I haven't even started on all the rest of the mind-numbing irritations and time-wasting I've had since Google decided to 'link' all my accounts together (or rather, totally mess them all up & remove the control I previously had). It's a pain-in-the-ass nightmare, but from what I've seen on this forum, there is no actual technical support provided; only some people who do not seem to be employed to help, but rather to 'defend' Google's policies.

@B&O, the 500 error issue with the channel comments page has absolutely zero relation to this thread. It's yet another bug with the PoS channel design, and the "engineers" (and I use that term loosely) are allegedly aware of it. Apparently it only affects a limited number of users, making it both harder to reproduce, and less of a priority for those in charge than if it were sitewide. My own channels, for example, and for reasons unknown, are not displaying the problem. Have you tried different browsers?
|anmoose||4/29/12 10:06 AM|
>>Right, So you have no means of telling the difference between spam/porn and a genuine attempt to provide some useful additional informationThat is correct. They do not have, nor do they intend to hire, the thousands of staff members that would be required to manually read every comment made and check every link posted to verify where it's leading and whether or not it's relevant to the video. The simpler approach: block them altogether. The "good guys" always pay for the actions of the "bad guys." (And what your email provider does bears no relation whatever to video comment sections on YouTube.
Your other rants on other topics can be reserved for elsewhere. I have plenty of my own, but I'm entirely aware that Google doesn't give a flying rat's ass what I think, so I don't bother.

Thx, yes, I tried Chrome, IE and FireFox - all the same....

Oh well... worth a shot. At least that proves that it's not browser dependent. About all that can be done is to wait it out until the kiddies manage to figure out what they've broken, and we never know when that will be.

About all that can be done is to wait it out until the kiddies manage to figure out what they've broken, and we never know when that will be.I think there is some degree of predictability -
fixing Column A breaks Column C
fixing Column C breaks Column B
fixing Column B breaks Column A and breaks Column C
..... add infinitum........
|BaltimoreAndOhioRR||4/29/12 1:04 PM|
That seems to be true....... now if only they had decided NOT to try to fix it when it was working well for 99% of the people......

I couldn't agree more. You try to get answers from Google and they just blow you off in this ridicules forum. Which is why I keep pushing the fact they have finally reach the point were they need to hire more staff and create a customer service for the Gen public like AT&T and Apple for instants. They want to get into the Cell Phone business they can't avoiding this to much longer.

anmoose - thanks for trying to help - just checking in to say it looks like my comment page is back up!
|anmoose||4/30/12 4:10 PM|
Good to know. It's a nice surprise when they actually fix something for a change.

I'm on here for nearly the same thing I guess. The ERROR PLEASE TRY AGAIN banner pops up after the second comment has been posted to force "you" to enter the CAPTCHA code. I'm a long time YT user in good standing. My problem begain yesterday and continues today that after every single comment I make whether on the same video or others I get the banner and I'm required to enter a CAPTCHA code. Anyone have a clue why this is happening? If not this venue is there another place where I might get an answer?
