Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email funhouze.com 5/4/12 4:02 PM
We created the YouTube username 'FunhouzeRecordz' before it was required to link a gmail account with it.

Recently I logged into YouTube with the username "FunhouzeRecordz".
I was notified that I had to create a gmail account to link it to in order to log into my account, so I did.

Then I received a notification that I had to create a YouTube username to link to this new gmail account, but I already was logged into mine!

YouTube would not let me log into my account unless I created a new username, so I created "FunhouzeRecordS" with an S.

Now I am locked out of the 'FunhouzeRecordZ' account. I log into the YouTube account using the username 'FunhouzeRecordZ' but it instead logs me into the account 'FunhouzeRecordS' with an "S".

Both of these YouTube accounts are connected. I use the login, "FunhouzeRecordZ" (with a "Z"), but am then switched to the 'FunhouzeRecordS' (with an "S") upon being logged in to YouTube.

Can anyone help me figure out how to get back into our FunhouzeRecordZ account?

You've misunderstood a few things.

The channel FunhouzeRecordz was created with a linked Google account. It was mandatory at the time the channel was created.

You created a gmail account, for whatever reason (it was not because FunhouzeRecordz required it, FunhouzeRecordz was already linked to a Google account).

Because the new gmail account was not linked to ANY YouTube channel, certain not FunhouzeRecordz because FunhouzeRecordz was already linked to a different Google account, when you used that gmail account with YouTube they offered to let you create a YouTube channel linked to that Google account,.

All you need to do to log into FunhouzeRecordz is to sign out of other accounts, sign into YouTube with the FunhouzeRecordz username, and the password of the Google account that always was linked to that channel.

If you created a gmail account with that exact name and used the same password as the YouTube channel, you have two different, unrelated accounts, gmail and YouTube, with the same names AND passwords. You can't sign into two DIFFERENT accounts with the exact same sign-in credentials.

Change the gmail password to something entirely different so you can use the unchanged password to sign into the FunhouzeRecordz YouTube channel.

Thank you so much for writing!

I have changed the gmail password as suggested.

Now when I try to log into to FunhouzeRecordZ (with a Z) YouTube account, I get a message stating that the password has just been changed.

By changing the gmail account password, the FunhouzeRecordZ AND FunhouzeRecordS accounts both have the new password.

Both YouTube accounts appear to be connected to the same gmail account.

Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you so much for all the help!

Still a misunderstanding, but now I don't understand it either.

It is not possible for both of your (relatively new) YouTube channels to be linked to one Google account.

So ... it's something else.

You changed the password to the gmail account you can access. It allows you to sign into the YouTube channel linked to it (not really the one you want to access).

I presume you signed out of that account before trying to sign into the YouTube channel you wish to access with the other, unchanged password. What happened, exactly? All you said is that it "appears" they both have the same, changed, password, not what happened when you signed out of Google and tried to sign into the channel with the unchanged password.

If it says the unchanged password is not correct, then it is not correct. Reset it. But ... you must know what Google account, what email address, IS linked to that channel. It's not the gmail account you've been using. It is not possible for it to be that gmail account as that gmail account is linked to a different YouTube channel.

You can double-check that gmail account to see that there is one and only one YouTube channel linked to it; sign into gmail, then sign into the Account Dashboard.. Only one YouTube channel will be listed.

I understood that by using the new password they thought they were logging in with the YouTube details because they were using the YouTube username, not realising that they were logging into the GMail with the GMail username and the new GMail username, thereby giving themselves access to the YouTube which is on that GMail and NOT the YouTube channel of the same name.  With me so far JDoors?  :P

To the OP- the key is to follow this (quoting JDoors):  "what happened when you signed out of Google and tried to sign into the channel with the unchanged password."  "Unchanged" meaning using the other password, NOT the one you just reset the GMail's to.

No, I didn't follow. I hope the OP is smarter than I am in that regard. The part you quoted should be more specific, "what happens when you sign out of Google and sign into the channel you have not been able to sign into with the unchanged password."

I changed the password to the gmail account as suggested.

Now when I log into the YouTube Channel I am trying to access with the original unchanged password, I receive a message stating "Your password has just been changed."

So now both of the YouTube channels have this new changed password.

Logging into either of the YouTube channels, will bring me to the "FunhouzeRecordS" account only. I am still unable to access the "FunhouzeRecordZ" account.

I think I was under the impression that it was the other way 'round, the Z account was the one you kept signing into and you could not access the S account.

So, signed out of Google, going to YouTube, trying to sign into the Z channel, tells you that you just changed the password, then everything stops and you aren't signed into anything?

Or you are signed into the S channel? If you are signed into the S channel using the Z username that means your S channel is linked to a gmail account with Z in it. You are providing the Z username, but it belongs to a gmail account that has the S channel linked to it. That's why the Z username signs you into the S channel.

The Z username cannot sign you into the Z channel at the moment because it signs you into the gmail account with that name and the YouTube channel linked to it.

It's still a matter of either providing the password of the Google account linked to your Z channel (which I tried to ensure is totally different by changing the password to gmail account "Z"), or signing into the Z channel with the Google account email address that IS linked to that channel. It cannot be the same Google account email address that is linked to your S channel. It is some other email address.
Re: Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email The Lady From Uncle 5/5/12 10:08 AM
No, only the GMail Google account has the new changed password.

And the system still thinks that you are trying to log in with the GMail username.

You are either not using the right password for the YouTube channel you wish to access OR your browser needs to be cleaned up because of the assumptions the site is making about what you mean to log in with.

Again- the YouTube channel you are meaning to access has NOT got a changed password.  ONLY the GMail (and its own YouTube) does.  That is- if you only changed the GMail password.

Back to the drawing board:

1.  Log OUT of the GMail of the same name, any Google account you are logged int, including this one here.  This is essential.
2.  Clear your browser's caches/histories and even investigate what password you do have set for YouTube, NOT the GMail (since you know that- you just reset it),
3.  Remain logged out of Google and go to www.youtube.com and sign in with either the YouTube username or its Google account username (which is a different email address from that GMail, this is for certain) and their shared password.  This is NOT the password you have just reset.  You have reset the GMail one.
4.  Repeat, including the cache clearing until the log in succeeds.  That is, if you are certain you know the right password for the YouTube in the first place.

If you do not- you must reset it.  For that, as JDoors has explained you must know its email address/Google account.
Re: Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email funhouze.com 5/5/12 2:49 PM
I followed the instructions you have given me exactly.

After clearing cache and attempting to sign in again, I am having the same problem.

The password has been reset for the gmail account only.

BOTH YouTube accounts must be linked somehow with this gmail account because when I try to log into either YouTube account with my original password, I get an error stating that my password has just been changed.

So if FunhouzeRecordZ and FunhouzeRecordS YouTube accounts are linked to the same email, how can I get into the FunhouzeRecordZ account?

Re: Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email The Lady From Uncle 5/5/12 3:14 PM
No.

They are not.  Fact.

Only one of your YouTube channels is associated with the GMail in question.

The other one, the one you cannot access, is not associated with it at all.  It is permanently associated with a different email address.

You keep trying to log into the GMail and keep being told that its password has just been changed.  Because the system doesn't know that you are trying to log into a YouTube channel, it thinks you are logging into a GMail.

Find the other email address/Google account uses (because it DOES use a DIFFERENT email) and log into your YouTube with that.  This will reset the cookies and stop the log in system trying to log you into the GMail.
Re: Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email funhouze.com 5/5/12 5:55 PM
I try using the email originally associated with FunhouzeRecordZ to log into the YouTube account. I enter the password correctly and cannot log in. I click "forgot password" and type in the email address originally associated with FunhouzeRecordz.

I then receive an email stating:
Your recovery email address is associate with your gmail account.

The gmail account is the one that FunhouzeRecordS YouTube account is connected to.

So FunhouzeRecordZ is connected to my original non-gmail email. My non-gmail email is connected to my gmail. My gmail is connected to FunhouzeRecordS YouTube account.

I have just took my original non-gmail email OFF the recovery email list for my gmail.

Now there is no difference. I am still having the same issue I started with.

When I log into YouTube with the account name "FunhouzeRecordZ" I am taken into the account "FunhouzeRecordS".

When I log into YouTube with the account name "FunhouzeRecordS" I am also taken into the account "FunhouzeRecordS".

(Note: Changing the password for the gmail account, also changed the password for BOTH FunhouzeRecordS AND FunhouzeRecordZ YouTube logins.)

Re: Help - Two YouTube usernames linked to one email The Lady From Uncle 5/5/12 6:17 PM
www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecordz was created on August 20th 2011.  It is a Google service YouTube channel which is permanently associated with the Google account it was created on.  It is still on whatever Google account it was created on, using whatever email it uses.

www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecords was created on December 2nd 2011.  It is a Google service YouTube channel which is permanently associated with the Google account it was created on.   It is also still on whatever Google account it was created on, using whatever email it uses.

Google accounts are all named for email addresses, whether GMail, Hotmail, Yahoo or private domain.

And each Google account must be uniquely named.  This means that no email address can be both the username of a Google account and also the email/username of another Google account.

This means that www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecordz is linked to a different email using Google account from www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecords

Logging into www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecords, either using its YouTube or Google username at YouTube or its Google username at Google can only ever log you into www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecords

You can see this association best by logging into it and going to its Google account's Settings page.  There you will see the email addresses its Google account uses and you will have the option to verify that it is only one YouTube channel associated with the Google account in question.  By going to the Google account's Dashboard.

Similarly- if you wish to log into www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecordz you can do this either with its YouTube or its Google username.

However- if you have a GMail with the same name (ie FunhouzeRecordz[@]gmail[dot]com) then you will probably log into that instead if you use the YouTube username for the www.youtube.com/FunhouzeRecordz YouTube channel.  Since users commonly use the same password for all/many of their channels and thereby confuse the log in system.  And if the GMail Google account you get logged into in place of the YouTube you meant to log into then you will/can only ever log into its YouTube channel and not the one which is not associated with the Google account you are in.

Then you must either change the GMail password and avoid using it at YouTube or you must know/use the email address/Google account of the inaccessible one.

In your case you do not know the email address/Google username of the inaccessible YouTube.  If you did, you'd have no problems logging into it with the Google username.  Either at YouTube or at Google.

Work out what Google account was used to perma-create the YouTube on in August of 2010 and you will, once more, be able to log into it.  As long as you do not it is unlikely that you will.  This is a conclusion born out by the fact that until now you have assumed wrongly that the GMail is in some way related to the YouTube you cannot access.  It is not.  It never was.

Nor is the recovery email address you are trying to use.  Because of the fact that your inaccessible YouTube's perma-associated Google account's email cannot BE the Google account username of/associated with the other YouTube's Google account.

You do have to trust that what JDoors and I have written- you do have an email/Google account you have not yet considered.
