Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 10/12/11 6:09 PM
If you go to youtube.com/my_videos_upload and notice significant visual changes, then you are a card carrying member of our new experimental uploads interface.

If you have issues with the new UI, you may choose to go back to the old UI.  Even if you decide to go back to the old view, please provide us with positive or negative feedback about the new UI in this thread.  Bug reports, subjective feedback, and coherent rants are all welcome.  Please be as detailed as possible in your reports, so that we can act on them.

Thanks,

David

The problem is that for me the new upload ui didn't appear for me. How can i make it appear?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. unauthorizedIWA 10/13/11 11:09 AM
The new UI looks great. What I noticed was that I couldn't save the extra information (like description, tags, etc.) right away. The button said "Save Changes," but I couldn't actually click on it. I wasn't sure if the settings were actually saved for the video or not, but when the videos were done uploading, I could save. Since this new UI started, I've also been getting warnings about possible Audio/Video sync problems. Also, it'd be great to have the time remaining estimate back.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. supernick345 10/17/11 4:01 PM
I think that its good at streamlining the information, although it would be nice if you better published how easy it is to drag and drop video files onto the upload page from Chrome & Firefox instead of having to locate them through the file browser, seems to work just as fast as the old uploader so impressed! :)
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Jagr06 10/20/11 1:19 AM
did you guys remove this? cause I don't see it now on the upload page and I originally had it as shown my this http://oi52.tinypic.com/6z7ehy.jpg
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. limesquared 10/23/11 12:17 PM
First of all I don't even know what a UI is or why youtube did this?  My videos are 720.  They are supposed to say
5 min down to 0 min then film is uploaded but then a lot of my videos get stuck at 6 min if I try at faster format
and if I try 720 it says say 30 min then hr, then 2hr.  Fix this, please.  This is not fair and youtube is not transparent. Shame!
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. HappyCabbie 10/26/11 4:07 PM
@Dj Aligator it is going live out to everyone today

@TheLime20 UI stands for upload interface.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. dheitm8612 10/26/11 5:16 PM
As a preface, I'm going back to the old format.

I don't see the need to "fix" something that wasn't broken.

The new Upload UI is a terrible layout, in my opinion. The Title, Description and Tags boxes are not wide enough. The description box needs to be larger and the title and tags box needs to be longer.

What's the point of moving the catagory and privacy and license options to the side. Were they not happy at the bottom where they belong?

You have formatted the page so that those of us using a smaller screen resolution (1024x768) and less than full screen browser window have to scroll to the right in order to see or access the SAVE button. What a pain.

Once again YouTube has excelled in making something that was simple into something more complex. Stop adding extra steps to the upload process and all the other functions of YouTube, i.e., the reviled My Playlist scroll bar now eating up 25% of my browser window.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 10/26/11 6:22 PM
OK, let's try to bring this back to actionable feedback.  Here is what I'm hearing:

--The page doesn't scale well for users with smaller displays/screen resolutions
--You would like to see a progress bar with time estimates

Any other specific suggestions?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. PoiMage 10/26/11 7:31 PM
@ytDavid: A captcha in the upload page to deter bot spam accounts posting videos en masse - I know these video can be flagged, but spammers are currently posting them at an alarming rate, making it impossible for flaggers to keep up, for now it's a cat-and-mouse game with botnet/manual spammers. Will you please consider this?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ZephyrSonic 10/26/11 7:35 PM
@ytDavid

Also how about posting the current upload speed in the upload page while the video is uploading so we know how fast it's going and not have to resort to bandwidth monitors to find this out so that way we can know if we keep a constant connection or not and see how fast it's uploading.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. HappyCabbie 10/26/11 7:44 PM
I myself would like to see the return of the thumbnail scrollers but at least bring back the time estimates.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. TheBlackBeltPanda 10/26/11 7:51 PM
I have a problem with the new UI.

After entering the information in the title, description, and tag fields, I do not have the option to save changes.  The save changes button remains grayed out and un-clickable.  Occasionally, after some time, the button will be available to click.  Sometimes I cannot sit here and wait for it to be available.  This especially occurs when there is a problem with one of the data fields.  For example, if I use the same tag twice, it will report an error stating invalid data field.  At that point, I cannot click the save changes button at all, even after fixing the error.

Also, when uploading multiple files, it is impossible to save settings on the videos that have not started uploading.  This means I cannot upload multiple videos overnight while I sleep as they will not retain the information I gave them when fully uploaded.

As far as appearances are concerned, I too believe the text fields are too small.  I have my browser full-screened at a resolution of 1440x900 and they still seem too small.  It takes too much scrolling and I can only see a small portion of my text at one time.  This makes editing the text difficult.

Lastly, I agree there should also be a progress bar.  It should display current upload speed and estimated time remaining at current upload speed.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 10/26/11 8:43 PM
@TheBlackBeltPanda thanks for letting us know.  We have identified this issue and prepared a fix to be released in the coming days.  In the meantime, there is a workaround:

click the "less" button to close the box; it triggers a save event.

Let me know if this works.

Looking forward to the upcoming fixes! =D
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Ausx 10/27/11 1:05 AM
I like to see how long a video will take to upload as well as how long I have left. So for me this is a problem.

I can't save the info right away as the save button doesn't appear.

I have uploaded a couple of videos with the new upload page and 1 out of 3 says it's finished uploading and finished the process but won't show online as available (even though settings are set right)

Someone mentioned captcha's Please don't do that. There's so many issues with thos. For one half the time you can't understand what they say!
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Blaiyan 10/27/11 9:47 AM
My biggest complaints have already been addressed several times. The Progress Information. The old uploader gave me the total minutes remaining for upload, processing percentage and a total for both. Then it gave you a video link when all is said and done. I would like for you to include all that and the upload speed (as suggested earlier) in the new User Interface upload page.

I wonder. Is it me or is this new uploader a lot slower?  It seemed to take longer for me to upload. On my slow DSL connection I can on average upload 300MB in 1 hours time. Something I have tracked several times. I have uploaded a lot of videos and with that have had a lot of errors. Seeing the minutes I can tell if there's an error with the connection because the minutes would almost triple during errors if it didn't out right fail. So I liked being able to see the time remaining.

Anyway, moving on. Like others have said the tags, description and title information bar are too short for me.

Adding the 'share' and 'add to' tabs is okay I guess but I'd like to have more than 3 options to choose from for thumbnails. I would like an option where I can actually expand the thumbnail so I can see it clearly. Those boxes are really small. Also the option to choose a thumbnail on the upload page isn't working (yet?). No pictures appear to choose from and I upload 3 new videos last night.

oh yes. This is something I wanted expanded on but you've seem to remove any video information besides the original title name. On top of showing the dimensions of the video, size, format and whether it was 16:9 I would've liked for youtube to show the bitrate as well. Also I've always wanted all of this info visible and attached to the actual video. You see everything (but bitrate) on the upload page but once it's available for viewing none of that information is viewable.

Okay this will be my last piece of feedback. I think I said everything I wanted to say or could remember to say. I can't believe I almost forgot this because I think it causes problems but is it possible to have an option to for multiple uploaders to choose to let a video completely upload And process before moving on to the next one? I've seen slow down in the past when the above video processing and the below video uploading overlaps. Though this may just be a problem with slow dsl connections for people who can't get something like Fios so I don't know.

Alright that's it.

I guess that's not it. Okay one last thing for people seeing the saved button greyed out. I'm sure this was mentioned earlier but once you enter the info it saves it automatically. I too thought it might be an error until I checked the 'my videos' page during upload after I entered in the info in. This is something youtube probably should've said because it does is so fast you'll miss it if you're not looking. I like it. I think it saves time. Especially if you forget some tags or add new info the your description more than a couple times.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. dheitm8612 10/27/11 2:19 PM
@TheBlackBeltPanda and others with a greyed out buttons, try opening your uploads page in another tab. Then use the Edit Info button to make changes and saves to the video being uploaded. This has always worked for me.

Other than that the greyed out buttons are a bug that need addressing.

One added point, I wish we could designate what thumbnail image to use with our uplaods intead of the randomly selected three that we get now. Many times the three choices we get are lousey.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ZephyrSonic 10/27/11 2:40 PM
For partners we should be able to select our thumbnail we want to use while it's uploading.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. dheitm8612 10/27/11 2:49 PM
There seems to be a problem with a second video starting after the first one has completed uploading.

I started one upload and added a second one after the first upload was in progress. When the first upload finished the second one just sat there. The icon showing activity was there but the upload progress bar just sat there at 0%.

A quick look at my uploads page confirmed that the first upload had uploaded and was processed and ready to view, but the second upload wasn't listed. Normally videos being uploaded appear on the list prior while they are being uploaded.

After 10 minutes I cancelled the second upload.

The SAVE and SAVE CHANGES button remained greyed out.

I switched over the old style.

Don't like the new upload page.  I can't be bothered going into detail as to why I don't like it.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. AccNight 11/1/11 2:05 PM
After spending an hour and a half uploading a video, I came back to find that the upload had supposedly completed. I stupidly navigated away from the page to my Uploaded list, and the video is nowhere to be found. Going back to the old uploader.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 11/2/11 12:07 AM
@AccNight what is your account name?  Complications like this occur independent of the old/new interface.  I'm happy to investigate this issue for you if you provide your account name here.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. bittermusic 11/2/11 8:37 PM
I don't know if this has to do with the new UI but I've been trying to upload a video which supposedly uploads, the page says it has uploaded, but in My Videos I'm told the upload failed and was aborted.

I have tried to upload one particular video 3 or 4 times to the same result. It is in the same encoding/format as most of my videos.

My account name is bittermusic.

Thanks.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 11/2/11 10:55 PM
Does it hit 100% on the upload page?  Does it turn over to processing and stall?

Thanks.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Jagr06 11/3/11 9:02 PM
How come some people can't see the new upload page?

@ytDavid Sorry to go off topic but do you guys have any updates regarding accounts that have lost the ability to upload longer than 15 minutes? It's been about 3 and half weeks since you last gave people any news about it. :(
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. bittermusic 11/4/11 8:36 PM
Hey David, didn't see earlier that you replied here -- it does hit 100% and says its uploaded and gives me a link.

Although today I uploaded a video successfully so maybe the system is back on track. Uploading another one now, we'll see.

But I still have a video which has uploaded and got stuck in processing though I can watch it and can send direct links to it, it's just not in My Channel or Search (this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNV7n3MBVW0).

Thanks.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. bittermusic 11/4/11 8:40 PM
@ytDavid, what I did different with the new upload today which was successful (and similar to the first uploads on the new system) is that I did not add the tag "yt:crop=4:3" which is necessary for the videos in question to display properly.

It seems silly that it could be that, which caused the problem, but who knows. I just ended up tagging it after video was up and running.

Cheers

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. CallofDutyDS 11/4/11 9:33 PM
I uploaded a video for three hours and it finished and gave me the watch button.  I clicked my videos and it was totally gone :(. It is not even there.  It uploaded 100% and processed 100%.  Will it show up in a day?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. bittermusic 11/4/11 9:36 PM
@CallofDutyDS This is exactly the problem I was having, and, no, the video never showed up for me during the day.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. DoughBoy319 11/5/11 3:01 PM
This new change is awful. Why did you decrease the size of the description box? Hopefully this change will be scrapped and we'll be able to keep the previous way of uploading videos.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. bittermusic 11/5/11 10:34 PM
@ytDavid, my other uploads came in fine without the yt:stretch=4:3 tag (sorry, last night I wrote crop, which was wrong).

But my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNV7n3MBVW0 is still supposedly processing. Please help.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. poagao 11/6/11 7:21 AM
I have had a lot of trouble uploading anything since the new system came online. The problems occur after the uploading has supposedly finished, in the "processing" stage, which lasts forever, and then gets stuck, and then the video page says "Upload aborted". I've tried this dozens of times, under the new and old-style upload pages. It's quite frustrating, and I wish things were like before, when, regardless of the trappings, we could at least upload videos.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. dheitm8612 11/9/11 12:08 AM
@poagao

You can use the old upload page. There is a text link near the top of the new beta page that will take you there.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. gbcali 11/9/11 4:02 AM
The ability to "Publish" your video "At custom time" has been removed – I thought that was a useful feature.

I would also like to have the ability to set the options for Comments, Comment Voting, Video Responses, Ratings, Embedding, and Syndication on the Upload page.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. BoredOnTheCorner 11/19/11 7:02 AM
The upload page is once again frozen on "loading", and has been all this week (at least for me). This is the SECOND WEEK IN A ROW that this has been happening.

BTW, seeing as my account is monetized, I'm more than rhetorically wondering if I can sue YouTube for lost revenue, on account of you guys being less than competent in your bug testing.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. JJustice 11/22/11 3:25 AM
A lot of people here have echoed my gripes, but I will list them anyway just for reenforced feedback.

1. Why change the old uploader to something that is less featured?  I do not understand the logic behind the change and it has not been explained anywhere I've seen.  You're not making changes just for the sake of making them, are you?  With this new uploader, it seems like it.  If you are attempting to make it "more simple" for all of the people who can't figure out what 2+2 is, please don't.  I hate it when companies pander to the lowest common denominator.  It's insulting.

2.  On the old uploader, I like seeing the preview of where my video is as far as processing goes.  Processing with the new uploader takes about 10-30x longer than the old and the progress bar for the processing is completely unreliable.  Again, why the change to something that offers no new features and actually has fewer features?  Please explain.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. PoiMage 11/22/11 9:27 AM

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ytDavid 11/22/11 7:04 PM
@PoiMage

The new upload page is not quite ready for YouTube partners.  You guys have additional functionality available on the page, so we are still tweaking and perfecting it.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. BoredOnTheCorner 11/23/11 6:41 AM
I've noticed that a ton of people still can't upload videos, no matter what browser or version of the interface is being used.

It's stuck on the loading screen.

When are you guys at YT going to fix this?

(oh BTW did I mention my account is MONETIZED?)
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Jagr06 11/23/11 10:11 AM
monetized simply means you can earn money from your videos by which I mean your own videos like vlogs and what. Unfortunately the amount you get is not even worth it unless you have a huge subscriber base. :P

I'm now seeing the UI again on my channel.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. getbrett 11/24/11 3:15 AM
The new interface does not provide an "estimated time remaining" left on the upload like the old interface does. A percentage complete is not nearly as useful as an estimated time remaining. It should be reintroduced.

This was working for me - really well, faster than before on my 7 minute 1 gig 1280x720 HD WMV's but then - without warning - its started to fail, time after time, it shows the link to the "live" video seconds after its started uploading - clearly a glitch - then if you leave it, it will emulate the upload - then BOMB - as in when you click "watch" its not there, nor is it there on the video page list, it says "video removed by user" - which I did no such thing!!??????

I have wasted hours of time messing with this, went back to the old basic uploader for now - odd!!!

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. dogstar7 12/10/11 2:31 PM
This is the worst! Since the new format, uploading time has increased at least 5X! I just wasted a entire day trying to upload a 1.3Gig MP4. Four failed attempts taking over 2 hours each! As a partner, I'm losing potential ad revenue if I cannot upload and edit in a reasonable manner! NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

LoveEarth, I'm currently having the same issue. All I want is to upload a single 8-minute video that I absolutely need uploaded by tonight or tomorrow, and it just won't upload right. The first several attempts were slow, one attempt showed the Invalid Server Response message, and one attempt uploaded all the way but the video just plain didn't show up in my videos list at all! One attempt got all the way to 99% before it just froze!

What on earth is the issue here, Google? I'm beginning to worry I won't get my videos out in time for my deadline, all because of a glitch or a server error. Please fix the uploader issues; they're not just gonna go away by ignoring us.

Just stopping by to say thank you for listening and adding the time remaining to the new upload page.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. loveEarth 12/18/11 6:47 AM
Hey guys; I did it with my google Chrome. It uploaded my avi file successfully but, I have to disable webshield, network shield, and behaviour shield etc of my avast free edition otherwise it didn't work. Firefox 6.0.1 didn't work I don't know why. Thank you Google but you need to fix this before it is too late.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. omgxdwo 12/19/11 12:26 PM
After a few hours I saw that my video was 100% uploaded but it stalled like that for hours.  How long does it take to process a video that is 4:30 minutes long? The old layout won't even give me the correct percentage.  I have to cancel and resume to see the real %.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LetsPlayNintendoITA 12/28/11 11:14 AM

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. gbcali 12/28/11 5:34 PM
@Blaiyan – The screenshot you provided of the Uploader page doesn't show the "time remaining" it shows the percentage of the upload competed.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. gbcali 12/29/11 11:45 AM
@LetsPlayNintendoITA – I don't know why some users have the "time remaining" clock and other users don't – I don't see it when I upload.

You can still use the previous uploader which displays time remaining ––> http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload?forceui=3

Hello I have been having problems uploading. I successfully uploaded 26 videos but now (since last month) when I upload it it "uploads" fast, stops and 30 seconds later says your video will be live at (gives link) but then when I click it says 'are you sure you want to leave the page?' so I am stuck. What is wrong and how do I fix it?

I have 2 Youtube accounts.  But the new uploader page only comes up on one of them.  On the other one I still get the old uploader page coming up when I make upload.  Are there any key differences?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. tahirarchive 1/16/12 7:56 PM
Also please bring back the option to display playlists only which was present on the old channels.  I am not uploading videos chronologically and there's no point in displaying those, they look much better categorised  into neat little playlists please.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LetsPlayNintendoITA 1/16/12 9:03 PM
on top of your channel there should be editing options
if you go on the 1st one there should be a Go back to the old channel option or something.
click it and it'll take u back to the old one
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. OfficialBSN 1/16/12 11:32 PM
I think youtube should just leave the website alone, it was fine in 2010/2011 I loved that style so easy to work with. But the constant updates and changes really annoy me. It's the same with gamemakers, they bring out an awesome game. Then the next in the series is ok, but the next one is the same as the 1st just with lots of new added content that complicates the game and people find it boring and unoriginal.

Leave youtube alone youtube please :D

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Lucius1958 1/22/12 5:02 PM
HEY YOUTUBE: Ever since you "improved" things, the upload page REFUSES to save changes to video info. In fact, even the OLD upload page, which USED to work fairly reliably,is not saving any more than a few words of text.

Oh, SURE, I get the fake "Saving" notice; but it CONSISTENTLY REFUSES to save anything. I have complained about this REPEATEDLY, but you have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to remedy this.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. GodlessManitoban 2/5/12 7:51 AM
@Lucius1958
Perhaps you have too many words in video tags?
I've found that messes up the saving of video info. After the video is uploaded/process/published you can add more video tags in info & settings.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. ZephyrSonic 2/5/12 7:13 PM
For those that want the new uploader page even if you have the old one go here.

Also too with the new uploading page even though I don't have it myself yet you could add preview windows or some kind of processing progress indicator so we know the progress of it's processing. Also for that link that I actually tested the number at the end to try that new UI you must use that link if you want to upload with the new uploader otherwise it reverts back to the old one when you regularly go to your my uploading page.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. 189nps 3/3/12 10:10 AM
The new YouTube uploader does not appear to work with a proxy server. I use a squid/dansguardian proxy server, and whenever I try to upload a video to YouTube, the progress bar just sits at zero percent and never moves. The old YouTube uploader seems to still be working, and I am able to upload using the old interface. But when I try using the new interface, it doesn't seem to work. I did some trouble shoooting using a debugging program called Fiddler, (which I highly reccomend to anyone who needs to troubleshoot a web site) and it shows that the proxy authentication is not being requested from the YouTube uploader. When I use a different proxy server with no authentication, it works fine. Unfortunately in this particular setting, turning off authentication is not an option. The problem happens in both Firefox and Internet Explorer. YouTube please add proxy authentication support into your new uploader interface.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. tahirarchive 3/16/12 12:57 PM
When I upload a file to my Youtube account I can't see the uploader telling me how much of it has been uploaded.  Nothing happens and I still get the 'Upload Video' or 'Record from Webcam' option showing.  The video is obviously downloading because my browser is running a bit slower and I can see the file under Video Manager but nothing happens to the upload page which means I can't change title and privacy options, tags etc.  I have over 800 videos on my account and this has never happened before.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Stoneinfl 3/16/12 2:34 PM
I'm having the same issue. It just started for me this afternoon. Prior to that I had been using the new interface just fine. It's not browser or machine specific. I normally used Firefox, but tried it on Chrome with the same results. I tried a different computer, and the results were the same. I also tried tried and true solutions like clearing cookies and cache with no success.

I, however, didn't realize that my videos were uploading each time I tried. The above note made me look at the video manager and to my horror I found they had all uploaded and were public. I deleted all except the first.

Can somebody fix this or come up with a workaround?

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 3/16/12 2:39 PM
First, I'm not trying to respond to a single post, but the only way I can see to post with this new layout is to click on "Post reply".

The new upload page is broken - I can click on a file to upload, but there there is no indication of anything happening - until I go to video manager.  Also, my camera's AVI files (which worked for more than two years) are all uploading as 1-second files (a problem that has been on-going for about two weeks.

I guess YouTube is overloaded and so is taking measures to cut down the inflow?

I am also having the same problem, it also started this afternoon.  My vids are HD and 5 minutes long and they won't even make it beyond the processing phase.  I can edit the title and things of that nature, but they never fully process.  Is this an issue on Youtube's end, perhaps?  Has anyone figured out a resolution?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Kiyarii 3/16/12 7:13 PM
I'm having the same issue. All of my accounts won't show the edit details/progress section once you select a video to start uploading.

To test if it was just my account I then created a new account which features the new UI. I was able to upload on the new account so it must be some issue with the old UI? Is there a way to update to the new one?

I'm having an issue where, when I click upload and select the video, nothing happens. I tried switching to the old uploader (I believe I'm still using the old UI) and when I click the upload button there, nothing happens at all.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 3/16/12 10:14 PM
Check Video Manager.  When I tried an upload earlier, there was no indication of anything happening, but if you look at your modem, you might be able to see evidence of outgoing data.  And after it's been uploaded, there should be some evidence of it under Video Manager on your YouTube page.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Montegro 3/16/12 10:21 PM
Yeah, I see that, I'm leaving the upload page open in hopes of the upload finish without it telling me anything, and I see the videos in my video manager, processing, but what can I do to fix all of this?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 3/16/12 11:21 PM
I don't think there's much users can do.  From the number of complaints, it seems that they're making a number of changes at YouTube and - as users - the only thing we can do is give them feedback and hope they fix it.  I think the problem is on their end.  At least with the upload page giving zero feedback, there is still functionality ongoing in the background, so you can still upload to YouTube.  The problem with all of AVI files being posted as 1-second videos however, is  more frustrating, because the functionality is broken.  At least other formats are working okay (and some types of AVI aren't experiencing problems)...  YouTube: Is there a fix for the AVI->1-Second issue on the way, or is that type of file unofficially banned from being uploaded now?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. vnguyen972 3/17/12 12:42 AM
I am having the same issue over here, it was strange that last night everything worked. As uploading, I could see the progress and was able to type in any other info while the uploading doing its job. But today, it refuses to work... I didn't see anything but everytime I tried, it was a new upload I saw in the Video Manager.
So I let one go and didn't close the browser... then kept checking the Video Manager until it was done. Then there it is, but now I can't have the thumbnail... how can we generate a thumbnail for the video?

My Ui is not updated still? Also I have not been able to upload videos since yesterday evening? The old upload page stays on the upload video screen after I select a file... If I hit the button again it allows me to select the file again, once selected again the upload screen stays, no uploading status no change. The videos appear in my videos as processing but I have no idea if they are uploading or not (I think not) I get no upload % screen. This has never happened before. I have tried using chrome, Internet explorer and my other computer I get the same problem every time. Please fix this! It can't take 2 days to update my page if that is what is happening? I upload daily so this is bad for me. I'm running on Windows 7 64 bit btw, although I'm pretty sure it is an account problem which I need fixed. I have no strikes or account warnings so I can't be anything to do with that. Please help!

PS: I tried the Forceui=4 thing to change to the new layout for uploading but it doesn't work for me on any browser.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. sambo_nz 3/17/12 8:23 AM
Same here - happening since today.
The upload button prompts for a file but then nothing happens.
Earlier tests showed up in my Video Manager but now uploads won't show there either.

Clearly YouTube have once again changed something in the background and broken it.

The 'new' and 'old' uploader URLs do nothing - all i get is the upload button and not the new interface.

So it literally means I can't upload, which isn't great considering I upload daily.

Hello YouTube? Care to investigate or comment?

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. IrixGuy 3/17/12 9:04 AM
Exact same problem here and started yesterday.  I'm a YouTube partner and planned to upload a lot of new content this weekend.  http://www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload page appears and lets me select video file but never progresses to page where I can enter video details, monetization options, etc.  The problem is not isolated to my browser or computer.  I've tried Mac OS X Lion Safari, Chrome and Firefox browsers with the exact same results.  I also tried Windows 7 PC with Internet Explorer and got the same results.  I also noticed that the numbers and "next" buttons at the bottom of the Video Manager page no longer progress to the next set of videos.  It seems that something server-side is screwy.  This is the first problem such as this that I have encountered with YouTube.  I use the new YouTube interface.

I Also thought that it *might* be linked to an Adobe Flash update that came in so uninstalled and reinstalled that.  That didn't fix it.  My Windows PC had an ancient Flash and I got the same results.....that was further confirmation that root cause is likely not Flash.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. IrixGuy 3/17/12 9:18 AM
Ok so I just uploaded a video.  Although it never advanced to where I could enter video details, etc. I opened a new tab and it was "processing."  Try starting an upload and keep that tab open.  Open a new tab and see if you see it uploading within Video Manager.  I know that it's not ideal but maybe it'll at least let you get your Vid uploaded without waiting for the bug fix.

Try starting upload and then opening a new tab.  Although I'm still bugged, it uploaded completely and I can then edit within Video Manager to add monetization options, description ,etc.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. FoodslingerTV 3/17/12 11:57 AM
Do we have any indication that anyone from YouTube is monitoring this thread or even knows about this issue?  ytDavid hasn't posted for months, and there appears to be no way I can find to officially report this on YT -- just a lot of canned inapplicable answers to other problems.

I can get to the new uploader on one of my accounts, and it works fine.  But on the other (more important) account, I get only the old uploader and have the exact same problem as everyone else.  It occurs on multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, IE 32 and 64, with or without Flash, Silverlight, Extensions disabled, etc) on multiple PCs and I haven't made changes to any of them.  So it seems clear the problem is on YT's server end, but there's no indication that they know about this or are working on it.

I stumbled onto the same workaround as IrixGuy and it'll do for now, but it's a pain.  And I can't find any way to force YT to give me access to the newer uploader.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/17/12 1:02 PM
This is fucking bullshit! I am seeing tons of other channels able to upload. My theory is YouTube is selectively allowing which channels to upload now. Not to mention my views have completely dropped to ZERO overnight from 75K a day. It's like YouTube is starting to silence which channels they no longer want. It starts with preventing uploads.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. brianbotkiller 3/17/12 1:45 PM
Hello,

the uploader is broken. Every time I try to upload in chrome, after selecting my video, I get no upload status, but in some cases, the video does upload, and shows up in my video manager. If I try to use the basic uploader, the page I'm taken to doesn't even bring up a file selection dialog when I click upload video.

firefox works sporadically, as well.  This all began yesterday. I am on the latest versions of chrome and firefox, this happens on  mac and PC.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. IrixGuy 3/17/12 2:18 PM
David Thanks for this post!  I looked at your screenshot and although I have the new UI (playlists, etc.) my uploader page does not look like that.  Do you work for Google?  If so, any idea how I turn this new uploader UI on?  It looks like I'm bugged....this started a few days.  All was well until then but my uploader page never looked like the one that you screenshotted in this post.  Thanks!

YouTube has officially killed itself. Uploader does not work at all. It doesn't appear on my current account. In a very old YouTube account, I get the new uploader, and it DOES NOT WORK!. Either way YouTube has just signed its death warrant. Take your videos to Vimeo.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. CodenameSailorEarth2 3/17/12 3:54 PM
I'm just now trying this, so forgive me if it doesn't work:

1. Go to upload and find your file and click open.
2. You won't see any progress bar or the standard edit details form.  It will look like nothing happens.  Leave the window open anyways
3. open a new tab after a few minutes and check your video manager.  There should be a video that says "processing"
4. technically that video isn't processing, it's actually uploading... you just don't see progress.
5. Wait... after the time it takes to upload the video you should see it in your video manager as fully uploaded and can edit the details then

Hi there,

I can't see any changes in the UI but the fact the one I got is not working anymore. I click upload, and nothing is going on.

In file manager, it's processing a file immediately after I click upload. No time spent uploading, no progress bar uploading.

Also, basic html upload is not working. It do not open a dialog box to select a file.

Thanks any help here!

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/18/12 10:47 AM
I got it to work after fiddle with it. What you have to do is click upload, select your file, open a new tab, go to your video manager and it is there. DO NOT close the upload tab.  It does get uploaded. I was able to successfully upload two videos FINALLY about the normal time for HD uploads.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. garak99 3/18/12 3:42 PM
Actually if you pick a video then open another page to the Video Manager you will see the video on top and a non moving Processing arrow just let it be walk away for 15-20 minutes reload the page and it will uploaded like you are use to. I am betting however it and when You Tube reads all this post they will again put some sort of progress meter

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/19/12 1:41 PM
That is the exact way it should be done until YouTube pulls their head out of their collective trained monkey A$@#$

I can personally vouch for this "fix" and have successfully uploaded twice. Definately must leave the upload window/tab open until the other window/tab with your video manager no longer shows it in progress. Closing the upload tab before then will kill the upload and you're left with a video that will always show Processing and it will never finish.

Why change what works well and replace it with something that does not work.
It's like the new youtube layout. It's crap.
My upload page is the same for me, it has not changed.
And I can't upload video since 5 days now.

Fix it please. No, sorry, replace all with the old version of youtube who worked fine thanks.

Yeah, I've noticed changes just now, but now, the new and old uploader just slows my browser down when I use them.

Why can't you people tell us WHEN you are going to make changes?

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/21/12 5:54 PM
YouTube/Google is changing to stuff that pushes the rendering/scripting off onto your/visitors computers. The video manager is now triggering an intense scan by my avp software as is the loading of this forum, the youtube player and analytics. It explains the striking similarity between the new layout all over google and youtube to that of bland totally flash driven sites. FlashPlayer/scripts also trigger intense scans by my avp software.

That aside, click the old upload button, select the file and click ok. DO NOT close the tab. Open a new tab and go to your video manager. It shows as processing. You can edit the video info and click save. WAIT patiently until the video manager shows the video thumbnail (no longer shows processing) then you can close the upload tab.

If you close the upload tab or visit another page in the upload tab, it will effectively kill your upload. It's the workaround I and other channel owners have found to work until Youtube actually fixes it. Going on two months now with one serious site malfunction after another and people are getting fed up.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. frozzytoobz 3/22/12 5:01 AM
videos are taking a very long time to upload.
I can't find out whether it's my own laptops fault or a youtube problem.
I've never had a problem with loading up my videos to youtube before.
Even before I had the speed in my laptop increased it was ok.
It has just taken about 5 hours to upload a 3 minute video.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/22/12 6:29 PM
The restriction on video upload time is automatically set to 15 mins max when copyright claims are logged against you. The restriction is automatically lifted when the claim is lifted or the claimant fails to respond in time.

Dispute the claim if you have a valid reason to. However be sure you do because repeated abuse of the dispute process will cause your account to be terminated.

At any given time I have 1 to 2 claims logged against me. I dispute them because the footage is public domain and documented to be free from copyright. I provide this information during the dispute process. The times I have no claims against me, I can upload longer than 15 min.

Most of the time the claims are automatic from the content id matching service from YouTube and misindentify. Again be sure you don't have copyrighted material though. If the claim is valid and you do have copyrighted material, it's best to voluntarily remove it as this avoids a copyright strike against your account if YouTube forces it down.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 3/24/12 10:52 PM
Latest Uploading Issue:  Thought I'd try one of my un-re-processed avi files.  It loaded the full length!  "Fixed!" thought I!  But no... now all of the *picture* loads, but there is only one second of *sound*.  Back to re-processing....  (If I reprocess the file into some other format, it damages pictures quality, but seems to upload while all attempts of uploading the original file fail).

Just to repeat.  The problem of only one second of the video uploading appears to be partially fixed, but although the picture loads, there is no sound beyond the first second.  (Since it's embarrassing to have the videos in that condition, I deleted them.)

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. yourjudgeandjury 3/24/12 11:49 PM
The old upload form is back functioning at least for me. I'm curious as to what you mean by un-re-processed though. Most likely your issue is from the upload glitch where as you closed the malfunctioning upload window (it was still uploading) causing a corrupt upload.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 3/25/12 1:48 AM
Re: "Most likely your issue is from the upload glitch where as you closed the malfunctioning upload window..."

No - in my case, in no instance did I close the upload window before the upload completed.  I monitored data outflow (independently of the browser) and could see that data was flowing out normally, so I didn't close the upload window (tab actually).  In all cases, I received confirmation that the upload was complete (via Video Manager), but then - after a short time processing - only one second appeared on-line.  Now the full length of the video loads, but there is no sound beyond one second.

Re: "I'm curious as to what you mean by un-re-processed though" - What I mean is taking the original avi file from my camera and converting it into another format (before uploading it), which works, but has degraded picture quality.  To go back over the history of the past couple of weeks - first I completed uploads, never closing the upload window/tab, but after a short processing time, only 1-second (and always exactly 1-second) of the video appeared on-line.  Then, using files that I had converted into another format and uploading them in the same way (also with no visual indication of the upload occurring beyond my monitoring data flowing out of my computer) they uploaded successfully.  1) 100% failure rate with original avi files, 2) 100% success rate with reformatted (and damaged picture quality) files.  (Also note that I've had almost no problems with this file format for two years of uploading the same type of file.) and 3) Several files all uploading and appearing in full length, but with only one-second of sound.

My issue with the New Uploader is that I can not access the new uploader.

I switched to the Old one due to me just wantting to upload a video quickly and not have to grasp a new interface and I've been stuck with it ever since.

The following links have all been tried:

http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload?restrict=flash

http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload?restrict=html_form

http://upload.youtube.com/my_videos_upload?forceui=3

http://www.youtube.com/my_videos_upload?forceui=4

These have no effect and I'm stuck with the Old Uploader.

If anyone can give me a working link or any Google staff just change me over I'd appreciate it greatly.

Hello,
I've been uploading videos on the current upload page by dragging and dropping files into the upload window. Today that seems to have stopped working. I tried it in Chrome and IE, but the problem remains. When I click on "old upload design," then drag the video in, the upload works great.

Also "report an upload issue" button opens a window for me to type in my user and password and after I type it in, the screen kind of blinks and sits on the logon screen still asking me to login.  I can't report anything that way.

Thank you,
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Blaiyan 4/13/12 7:55 PM
@Kathleen YT

You need editing software. You can download windows movie maker for free if you have XP (try c-net) or you can download windows live movie maker free if you have windows 7.

Then you pretty much have to change the picture duration time to match the audio length. Wlmm has an easy fit to video button. It's all really easy once you do it.

I also suggest paint.net (free software) for editing pictures. So you can change the dimensions of the picture or brightness or erase things, etc.

The new as well as the old uploader isn't working. I tried to upload my video and the new uploader says 'uploading your video' but it stays stuck at 0%. This is the first time something like this has happened. The video doesn't even show up in the video manager. I noticed there are others experiencing these problems as well. Please help!!
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. PRussell1865 4/18/12 1:41 PM
We are having the same problem with the new uploader. We have routinely been able to upload large files, but we are now having issues. Is there an easy fix?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 4/18/12 2:17 PM
Reprocessing the file into another format before uploading might help.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Chester54 4/18/12 10:08 PM
Ok forgive me if this has been discussed but searched with google and it didn't come up.

I never switched to the new uploader because of this bug.  Thought it'd be fixed before you forced it on us - but nope.

When I was uploading, if I entered text in the fields (title/description/tags), often (like almost always), after youtube "autosaves" the bar at the top indicating the progress/time remaining would disappear.  This was really annoying when I was uploading GBs and the transfer time was hrs.

I _just_ figured out that what's happening since I'm now forced to deal with another pointless YT upgrade.

Please fix: It seems that when I put a title that is longer than the display space at the top (but not too long for youtube) that txt somehow pushing the progress off screen.  It doesn't happen character by character (the status all goes away) and it doesn't happen until youtube runs an autosave (after a brief period of inactivity).  I'm sure there are others who don't realize if they remove their title (or shorten it below about 93 characters the status will return).

The first few times this happened I assumed my transfer died.

the new upload site is CRAP!
U cant upload nothing, and u use to allow us to use the old UI
but it seems that u have now cancelled that as a result no video can be uploaded which is extremely F***ed up for a video upload domain
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. derekrants 4/19/12 7:17 PM
@ytdavid with the new UI there isnt anywhere to put in details for monitization like song name and artist to give credit to them so we can use their music?

Yet another change to kill YouTube.Obviously you are not listening to people because there have been millions upon millions of complaints and negative feedback from the very beginning of this YouTube overhaul......It's more like CrapTube now and you are lossing a great number of channels to Vimeo because of this.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. BWL1989 4/21/12 3:59 AM
It took a couple seconds to get used to, but I'll admit... I'm impressed! I like having access to everything on the uploader page rather than going back and forth between my_videos and my_videos_upload tabs. One thing - I use the tab key and my keyboard a lot more than my mouse, and noticed that when I tab to the "Category" dropdown and press P (expecting it to select "People & Blogs"), the box doesn't show "People & Blogs" until I tab out... But this is just nit-picking at it, I have no choice but to admit I actually like the new uploader ;)
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. filmoninternet 4/21/12 10:57 AM
Sorry but it really sucks. I can't upload anything through that page, only when I click on "switch back to the old design" it uploads. How on earth could I know there is something changed on my page????? And even in the "old design" mode the upload speed is much much slower than a few days ago when I could easily upload.

You should have at least notified me about this experiment. It is rude not to notify people and just experiment with their page. I am now waiting for nearly half an hour for a clip which is just a few seconds to be uploaded.

I got the same issue but I realized that it only happened to my Google account.  The new interface worked a week ago but today when I tried, it did not work anymore.  However, if I signed out and signed in as a different Google account, the new interface works!

The old design works okay but I liked the new design better.  Not sure how to fix my issue though.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Zips 4/22/12 12:50 AM
Where are all of the options on the monetization tab now?  The ones where we selected "Yes" or "No" for if the video may contain something that will potentially screw us over without a proper permission outlined with a link?

Right now it just says "Monetize my video" and checking that does NOT result in any sort of text box where we can say "yes, here is where there is a public statement from Company A that people are allowed to monetize footage from their product."

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. h2ofun 4/24/12 9:26 AM
Where did the progress status go?  Without this, any upload toy is worth nothing since I have no idea how much I have uploaded
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. HoldReset 4/24/12 9:34 AM
I can't say a whole lot about the new UI as I only used it for about 3 minutes. Once I realized there was no information box to make copyright claims when trying to monetize videos I immediately switched back to the old setup. This way I knew I would have no problems claiming permissions on videos. (If it ain't broke don't fix it.)

What I have noticed since the new UI has been rolled out is the amount of time it takes to actually upload. My upload times are increased about 1.5x - 2x since the change. I've also noticed that while uploading I now have a steady 20kB/s download stream that I didn't have before this change.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. h2ofun 4/24/12 10:18 AM
How does one go back to the old setup since I do not like the new upload tool.
And yes, I have seen huge increase in the upload times for the same files sizes compared to just a few months ago.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. HoldReset 4/24/12 10:27 AM
Next to the Activity Sharing toward the bottom you'll see three starred lines. The last one should look like this:

* Send us feedback or switch back to the old design.

Feedback and old design should be links to their respective pages.

I've been trying to upload a 20-minute-long video (I'm a YouTube Partner) and it keeps freezing at a certain percentage in the bar and never goes past it! I've been trying to upload this video for two days now; I've also compressed it and tried that, and that doesn't work either. I've also tried uploading on Safari, Firefox and Google Chrome, and none of those are working either! My internet connection is fast and reliable, and in every single one of these circumstances, the upload bar freezes at either 17% or 53%. Please help!
Thanks a lot,

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. rhimo 5/3/12 1:27 AM
1) I had to switch to the old interface to disable comments on my videos.
2)You keep randomly switching between me being able to upload 15 minute videos and videos that are longer. If you are going to do that, at least reject it BEFORE I have wasted my bandwitdth.

Sort it out. You don't need random people to tell you that having the full range of options available on the upload page is a good idea. Is Daddy trying to find his kiddies a pointless job to do, or are the staff at youtube genuinely so stupid that they thought that "streamlining" means the same thing as "removing half of the options so that we can't find them and get annoyed".

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. rhimo 5/3/12 1:29 AM
Also, your help page relates to the old interface, not the new one. So when I went to the help page to see how to disable comments under the new interface, it only showed me how to do it in the old interface! Is it humanly possible to be this incompetent.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Acetylen 5/8/12 8:25 AM
Aside from the timelimit issues, I think that one small detail need to be changed.
Autosave function makes adding tags very problematic. If I use [end] key to go to the end of the list of tags the autosave will start and put the cursor back to the beginning of the box. Same happens if I add a tag and want to write another one. In the end I need to manually move (without any shortcuts) typing cursor to the end, write one tag and repeat the process. This prolongs tagging videos a lot.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Poita 5/9/12 8:56 AM
The screen looks like Youtubes UI is finally dragging its self into the post 1990's age of UI design BUT I have been trying to find a way to upload videos longer than 15 mins for weeks now and on the 'upload' page I just CAN NOT see the 'verify' link. It's not there, not even when I go to the older view.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. gamingetc 5/9/12 3:35 PM
Even if I go back to the old ui, I just get errors. I've had 500 Internal Server Errors since the switch. This new experimental interface is awesome. I love it when I try to monetize my videos and then I look at my playlists everything is re-arranged.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. lovebugstudios 5/15/12 5:25 AM
I am using the new interface, but it is buggy.  Unfortunately, so is the Old UI.  I can't even use the old UI, because it keeps throwing up "500 Internal Server Error" when I click stuff.  I use Chrome & Firefox, so I know it's not me.  :)

My issue with the new UI is the Monetization settings.  I am allowed to check the box for monetization, but there is nowhere, nowhere, NOWHERE to submit documentation.  It doesn't even ask - it doesn't even tell you to wait 24 hours, or anything like that.  No problem I thought; I've got 40 videos that use the same royalty-free commercial OK music, and those are all monetized, so this one should not be a problem.  Nope; it got rejected.  So I sent in the documentation separately via the help area.  The next video I submitted, same thing.  Except, although I submitted documentation, I am not allowed to monetize that video at all.  I don't know what to do now.

So, I suggest that if documentation is critical, you guys PUT IT BACK in the monetization tab & allow people to submit it with the video. Or, if there's some sort of waiting period, don't let me click the button to enable monetization until the waiting period ends.

The new upload UI is ridiculous. I uploaded a new minecraft mod tutorial, and it was stripped of all rights to monetize-- there is no where to put documentation of my rights, or even a description for the monetization review people.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. MrBobjamesBob 5/17/12 7:17 AM
The Problem i have with this UI, is that i can not, when trying to monetise the video, do anything else than clicking "i owe all the rights in this video".
I make video's about minecraft with royalty free music in the intro, all is listed in the description of that video, but the monetisation is not allowed.
I think it is because i didn't have a chance of proving i owe the rights of using the song in the intro or the graphics from the game.
IF any1 can help me, thanks a lot!

The new upload page is fine for me - except I would like the ADD MORE VIDEOS "SHOW MORE" to be more prominent, maybe for the editing panel to be ready-loaded for adding a second video without having to SHOW MORE.

(I upload short clips of recordings from wildlife cams and often have to upload one after another PDQ.)

I have a usability suggestion: While uploading a file, I can change the title. But once I start typing, I lose the filename. If I'm uploading multiple videos, I might not know which video I'm titling. Please show the original filename somewhere within the Basic Info box - or near the upload progress bar. Thank you.

Hi David.

I've got the new upload interface. I upload videos of my TV show every week and every time, I convert these videos to .flv format and standard 720.. frame size before I upload. I ave been doing this for months without any issues. Recently though, I tried uploading a video. Not only did it take longer than usual (3 hours as a against just a little over an hour) but also, when it was done and I clicked to view it, I was informed that I, the "user deleted it". I can't trace the video to anywhere. I tried a second time, 3 or so days after, and the same thing happened. I'm scared to try again cos each time I start to upload, I see even more scary upload times displayed. What is happening? Just so you know, I tried switching to the old upload format but still got high upload times. I don't even want to bother watching it upload completely and it deletes itself again. What's even more weird is that I'm seeing these bunch of channels, on my profile, I don't remember subscribing to. Channels I would never subscribe to even if i were drunk. I changed my password thinking my account has been compromised, didn't seem to help. What is gong on? Please treat as urgent because I am now 2 episodes behind on uploads. Thank. The channel is www.youtube.com/taxmatterscom

Ever since YouTube changed its software last fall, every time I click on Analytics it goes into an infinite loop of trying to pass me off between a couple of web pages without ever landing on one and staying there.  Today, the same thing is happening when I click on an "Upload" button anywhere on YouTube.

The retarded new design doesn't even show a percentage for me.  It is pissing me off.  Trying to use the old upload design.  A video I am trying to upload.  I published it with windows move maker as a HD video file.  The old uploader doesn't like my video for some reason and it auto deletes it.  Youtube needs to freaking fix this problem where there is no percentage or estimated time with the new upload design.

I hate the new design.  I want to know what percentage my video is at while it uploads. I hate that the new design doesn't allow you to see a freaking percentage or a estimate time remaining.  It is retarded.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. MsKatana83 6/11/12 3:20 PM
I am not worried how the page looks.  It's the automatic stabilizing I really don't like and the fact that it has happened to my 200+ videos without my consent sucks.  It makes the video look stupid and really don't like it.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. LyleInTokyo 6/11/12 6:59 PM
That was done automatically?  I thought they asked before doing that?  Was it done to a new batch of videos uploaded, or done to videos you had uploaded months (or years) in the past?
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Fartkncoker 6/11/12 7:53 PM
Yeah I have a problem with it.  I can't see my percentage or estimated time remaining.  Me personally I am not too horribly picky.  If just a percentage screen would show up when I upload videos I would be fine.  But I can't even get the new upload design to even do that.  I just has this circle icon spinning around.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Launch Pad 39A 6/11/12 9:11 PM
All I hear is a bunch of whining and complaining about not being able to upload fast enough. I've had ZERO problems. Then again I don't try to do every damn thing on the internet at once like I am hearing everybody hear try to do.

STOP WHINING and STOP PLAYING GAMES when you try to upload. You can't shove everything through an internet connection at once no matter how fast your connection says it is. Your computer STILL has to do work.

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. uke4ia 6/12/12 2:43 PM
BossKitty, it doesn't look like Google is going to answer us.  But I was having the same problem you were using Internet Explorer.  Still am, in fact.  But I tried going to YouTube using Mozilla Firefox instead and the Upload button worked the way it's supposed to.  So if you have another browser on your computer, try using it to upload your video.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Fartkncoker 6/12/12 10:11 PM
Yeah but the thing is using the new upload design I don't see a percentage or estimated time remaining.  I have used Firefox, and Google Chrome, even IE too.  All of them will not show a percentage when uploaded a video using the new retarded upload design.  I think it is retarded because it will not show percentage or anything.  It is stupid.  And I have adobe flash installed and updated of firefox, and google chrome, and on IE.  I guess I will have to use google's old upload design unless google every decides to make it where the freaking percentage will appear using their retarded new upload design.  Why the hell do they think people don't want to see a percentage or estimated time remaining using the new upload design.  And it been a long ass time for them to fix the damn problem.  Stupid youtube people.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Fartkncoker 6/12/12 10:12 PM

They think youtube users don't want to be able to see the percentage or estimated time remaining when upload videos.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. mrbonebus 6/17/12 5:34 PM
its horrible. my videos are being denied monitization because it no longer gives us the option to explain why we can gain profit from the content. i dont get why youtube keeps trying to fix something by making a new layout. why not work out all the old bugs first (350 view bug) and so on.
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. OldGuyProductions 6/19/12 10:01 AM
It's horrible! Where do we put the royalty free license info? There is nowhere to attach it so the videos go under review for ever and by the time youtube reviews it then the video is already played out. Most views come within the first day or so but by the time youtube reviews it (if ever) the video is stagnant.

ME NO LIKE!

Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. Fartkncoker 6/19/12 11:21 AM

Am suddenly, since yesterday (21 June) unable to use the upload page AT ALL.  I normally use Chrome but have also tried Firefox and Opera.  (Can't even log in in IE.)

This is after many months up uploading videos short and long, some over 2 hours long, without any problems.

This coincides with the inability to edit details on the Video Watch page, have to go into Edit (more time consuming, video link on that page is only for edit page).
Re: Noticing a change to the upload page? Provide feedback here. FrancisFire 6/24/12 8:51 PM
The new UI is pretty convenient. The Tab style of the UI made it pretty arranged and Monetization is done in just one click. There is one issue though... Uploading videos is a bit slowed down for some reason but It doesn't really affect the overall convenience of the UI. It's also pretty easy to understand for newbies.

Overall, The New UI is pretty good and pretty convenient. Old and New Youtubers should find it easy to adjust to.

I have the new upload page but ever since it showed up, I can't upload anything.  Now when I go to the old format and try to upload, it automatically logs me out.  And I still can't upload.  Thought it was just me, but I've been dealing with this issue for weeks with no resolve.

I updated my upload video that exceeded the time limit.  After the video was rejected for being to long I upgraded my account through verification to increase the time limits.  How do I tell youtube to approve the video now?

Thanks

I need help! I'm a youtube partner and ever since yesterday whenever I go to the "video manager" section I get a 500 Internal server error.

@TheLime20 UI stands for upload interface.

Actually "UI" stands for User Interface.

I have uploaded over 50 videos to this system in the past 18 months without any problems. My last upload was in May. I tried to upload yesterday and today using both the new "improved" upload and the old "dependable" upload. Neither will work. The new upload comes back immediately with a file error message. The same video plays on my computer without a problem. The old upload comes back with the window screen message that it can't be displayed.  I even tried to upload videos that are currently in my YouTube channel, that were uploaded without a single problem in the past and I get the same dumb error messages. I have turned off my virus software (it was always on in the past) and used only the "c" drive (always used the "f" drive in the past). Nothing has changed in the way of software on my system other than standard updates. Are others having the same problem?

I haven't found any clear explanation about what's going on, but from watching this thread for awhile, it seems that some formats that were easily uploaded before are no longer supported/working.  Keep in mind that everything you post to YouTube is reprocessed into a different file format before it goes on-line, so once it's up, it's up, but they appear to have dropped file conversion support for some formats.  The solution appears to be to reprocess your videos into another format before uploading.

Sorry for posting in the wrong que.  It finally worked for me with the new format, I didn't try it in the old format, I only had one file.

i am having real problems uploading videos to the site using this uploader. i have successfully uploaded 9 videos only (but I have many more!) which took about 4 hours....none of them are very big files or long videos so I really don't understand why it takes so long. Now every time I try and upload more it gives me a ridiculous upload time, like a video of only 1.38 minutes will take over 900 minutes to upload???? wtf?

oh and additional comments, trying the old uploader doesn't work either, it just hangs......

Do i have to have google+ now? I really don't want another account.

I don't think you need to join Google+.  Google would prefer that you did, but it's not necessary for using YouTube... unless something has changed very recently.

Why do you ask?  Did you get some kind of message prompting you to join Google+?
