|Youtube account somehow lost after gmail account linked.||ZukiZilla||7/5/12 7:25 AM|
Im having a read headache with my youtube account - I am the owner of an account I have posted some videos too, but recently I linked my google account to a domain then backed out of it using a different email address.
Now ive recreated my google account as a non-domain one, it seems to have created a whole new youtube account for me, and I have lost access to the videos I previously owned.
This is despite the fact that if I log into youtube using the username i used before - which is the same name as the old account - it lets me log in but links to a whole new account AND i can still see my old account if i search for it along with my old videos.
I need to link together this account and the old one but online support is failing me!

Not clear what you mean you backed out of your Google account and "non-domain" email.
If your newer Google account has a different YouTube channel to the one you seek to access then your YouTube you want to access is associated with a different Google account. But if you have Google Apps then the YouTube channel is associated with a gtemp email/account pending linkage.
It is also not entirely clear WHAT you are logging into your YouTube channel with as there are two usernames- the Google account's email address AND the YouTube channel's username. It is better to use the YouTube username as there is less chance of trying to follow a tenuous link between Google account and YouTube channel where Google accounts appear to have been renamed.

Well perhaps the domain account thing is a red herring, lets just say that I set up a google account and was forced to migrate my old you tube account to it, but something seems to have gone wrong in the process.
If i go to you tube and type in my old youtube username it logs into my new google account, but this account despite having the same name as the account with my videos on it seems to be a totally new account with its own favourites and most importantly uploaded videos.
If i look at my old account - ZukiZilla - it exists and has my videos listed against it, but i cannot log into it even if i log into the Zukizilla username - it dumps me into my google accounts youtube account which seems to be seperate.
I need to be able to merge these accounts in some way as I am the original owner.

If you log in with ZukiZilla and end up in a different YouTube's Google account then that can only happen if you are actually logging into a GMail Google account also called ZukiZilla (GMail providing its Google account with the only email username which uses only the bit before @).
Log into the GMail with that username and change its password. Log out, clear the browser caches, close browser and reopen. Now go to www.youtube.com and use the ZukiZilla username but avoid using the new GMail password. Instead use the one your YouTube channel uses.

Sadly this didnt seem to work - whenever i changed my password on my google account it also changed my password on my youtube one.
The account i reach on logging in has its own recently watched videos, none of my favourites or uploaded movies.
I tried logging in on a seperate browser even and that go to the same account too, each time only the new password i changed to would work with Zukizilla, the others failed.
Thanks for your help though :)

I think what may well have happened is that when i created the google account for my personal use and merged it with a youtube account, it has merged it with a work google account that ive logged into youtube with before.
This is the youtube account im logging into when i connect as it seems to have some likes i made on this work gmail account in youtube - exactly why it merged it under the Zukizilla username i dont know.

If you change the password for the GMail Google account which is not associated with your YouTube channel then it CANNOT change the password for your YouTube. This is fact.
Again- do you have a GMail called zukizilla@gmail[.]com or zuki.zilla@gmail[.]com?
If you do- the first thing is to see if it is associated to your inaccessible YouTube or not (I am guessing not but if you believe it changes the password?) To do this you must log into it. Go to its Account page and there pick Products. From there go to Dashboard. You will need to sign in again. Now scroll down. Is your YouTube listed? If it is- any link there will take you to the YouTube channel already logged in.
If not- that GMail is not associated to your YouTube. Changing its password CANNOT affect the YouTube's password or access.

Google accounts don't merge with other Google accounts. Every Google account (GMail using or not) is only ever a standalone account. And every Google account may only have one YouTube associated with it at a time. And if it is associated to one Google account the YouTube channel cannot also be associated with a different Google account.

And using its changed password cannot and never will give you access to anything BUT the GMail. Which is the whole point. In order to log into the YouTube channel you will need to use its username (which is the same as the GMail's, yes) and its own password (which is not the same anymore. Because you made sure the GMail has a different password).
If you are not clear which password your YouTube channel now uses you would need to reset it to the email address it uses (it is not that GMail though, that much is clear). If you know its original password then you could just cut to the chase and use it with this link: www.youtube.com/my_account_unlink making sure you first logged out of Google.

Thanks, I managed to get my account back at least even if I had to create a new google account to do it - as my current account has a youtube account already I couldnt link it.
But this worked...thanks for your help!
