Sneaky, Youtube. You removed the option to revert to the classic youtube, in essence forcing your buggy design on people that never wanted to changes in the first place. I actually wouldn't mind the design if you'd actually fix the f**king bug the causes elements on the screen to shift left and right depending on the placement of the mouse cursor. But despite many submitted feedbacks and comments on this forum, you chose to ignore it all and force us users to use your crappy new design.
Please, for the love of god...someone...Vimeo...Roku...Apple....anyone!!! Create a compelling alternative to youtube!!!!!! Perhaps then the arrogant a**holes at youtube might start to listen to its users once again.

I am currently using the old YouTube but will test this on another browser to see if there is any thing I can figure out to help you (you're not the only user reporting it) and, if not, report it to support for clarification. 1. Go to any youtube channel page (the main channel page, with the channel art and nav bar)
2. Move the mouse over the nav column on the left.
3. Move the mouse over the video section on the right.
4. Repeat 2 and 3. Am I the only one seeing the channel art and nav bar shift left and right as the scroll bars become visible.
Maybe it's because back in the day, when I was toying with HTML and a:hover, I use to pay a lot of attention to make sure that my UI didn't shift with any of the hover elements. But seeing this kind of things on Youtube makes me sad that no one cares for the small details.
FYI, switched to my alternate / newer account, and the old ui option is not available for this account. It is, however, the default for my main account. I certainly hope that if this is a permanent move, that my main accounts remains on the old ui.

I will be testing it in Firefox, my back-up browser. Not taking the chance with Chrome as I cannot risk getting stuck in the new view. ;) I should also add that my browsers are seriously "vanilla" and I don't tend to run incognito etc.

I think that it is less that they don't care, and more that they care too quickly. Meaning that they are keen to get stuff out there, and let us users "test" to the max, getting stressed into the bargain. :(
I am having the same problem I have been signing in and immediately clicking on my profile picture and scrolling down and there was a option to revert to old youtube design now there is no option.at the minute I have found when you are on your own channel click on the big blue option customise channel you channel page will go back to the old design but doing anything after that is the new bad design again why can't youtube just leave the option to go back and stay back in the old design the new design is terrible.

Yeah, it all kind of sux now and has since they made a change to the appearance back in 2011. We used to have more control over the appearance and function of our channels page, using our own background pics, having a feature video playing (not the snippet version "about my channel" one they now have) people being able to visit your page and leave comments where it was more visible and could leave little text doodles, easier functionality. They made it so everyones just looks the same and they have removed our ability to be self-expressive in the design. All now wearing the same "uniform" much like Facebook with no say in regards to changes just stuck with what they do. I too wish they would leave things alone. I don't like being stuck with this new version or any of the other ones they have had since they made that switch in 2011.

I am using my standard computer, which is an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4460 CPU that uses Windows 10, and my internet of choice is Microsoft Edge, but this issue also exists on Google Chrome as well. I no longer have the option to switch back to the original YouTube layout. I also have an I-Pad and a laptop. My I-Pad is not affected by this change, and my laptop is a current unknown at this moment. But I am absolutely FURIOUS that the option has been removed. I gave feedback multiple times when I was able to switch to the old layout before that YouTube was perfectly fine BEFORE they created the new layout. When people give you feedback, you are supposed to LISTEN TO IT!!!!!!! My primary issue with the new YouTube layout was that the Auto-Play feature would keep turning on each time I opened a new video, even after ALREADY turning off that option, and I HATED IT!!!!!! Right now, I'm seriously considering starting a petition on Change.org to threaten to SUE YouTube if they don't listen to their user's feedback and restore the option to go back to the old YouTube layout. In fact, I'm going to do exactly that: I will give them exactly one week. If they don't restore the option to revert back to the old YouTube layout, then I am starting that petition on Change.org

Then, all of a sudden they decide to force everyone to use the crappy design simply cause someone at Google made it. Just because a team has worked hard on a product, that does not make it good. I'm using a user script called 'Get me old YouTube' with ViolentMonkey, which works but only as long as the style sheet for old layout is still available on the YouTube server. It basically sets the same cookie that is set when the option to revert back to classic YouTube still existed.
There's already user scripts that do this for you...

Okay, please, if this somehow can't be fixed, YouTube's just lost a user. I cleared my cookies due to error messages and this happened.
It's not as clean/organized as the slick old layout, it eats more CPU (i.e., is slower), etc.
It has happened to me too, I hate is as my PC is old so it is slow loading and a pain in the arse.

So, the powers that be are leaving the rest of us behind by forcing this new format. There may be workarounds for a while but those will eventually be gone. Let us not forget what Google did with Google Maps.
The programmers need to realize there are people that prefer the old format not so much because they don't like the view but because they are limited by their hardware. Is it really that much of a burden to make site backwards compatible? Is it really necessary to change programming simply because you can?

I wanted to watch youtube today and I freaked out because it signed me out and I couldn't get back in without deleting the cookies. The problem is, the cookies are most likely what allow me to watch youtube on the old platform. This time they didn't even tell us about the update and took away the restore button, which absolutely sucks.
This time the update looks more like the mobile version, which I hate so much that I changed the mobile version to the desktop version on my Ipad but now I guess it's useless.
I use a surface laptop (specifically surface pro 4) which has the general layout of any other Windows 10 laptop when in laptop mode.

Another piece of proof of their bad design is that when you click your own channel, the settings go back to the old one, but then they go back to the new layout again when you leave that page. They couldn't even make all the youtube pages the same layout.
I found a slight solution to get old classic youtube back from a little testing.
Click your google icon while drop menu shows
Then go to creator studio then click Youtube Home button
But if you refresh it return it back to new youtube again..

I just wanted to watch videos without the layout bothering me. You can watch videos like that until you reload (sorry people with bad internet). However, if you click the go back button/arrow at the top of the page, it still stays as the old layout, which means I can finally watch videos in peace. It is quite simple and you have to do that every time you go on youtube, but I don't go on in intervals a bunch of times during the day so that should be fine. I still wish that they could add back the restore button.
Hopefully they don't fix the bug.
I guess that youtube developers are aware that besides the cluttered and non functional new design, HD videos play well only on Chrome.

...Of course it may just be to say that the change is permanent, i.e. that it is all as intended. Which would be a shame since, as many of you are aware, still not a complete transition in that editing still reverts to the old version anyway.
In case you're wondering- it is how sites appear to be going- very device/mobile phone orientated. :'( I am NOT a fan (since I only ever use YouTube on desktop view) but I cannot argue with their statistics which show that the lion's share of users now access YouTube with an app. Sigh...
You can restore old layout by adding /?disable_polymer=true to adress bar, but it does not work everywhere,on main site this work ok,but you must remember to add this every time you visited main page,about channel,same thing,you must add this again to adress bar to restore old layout,unfortunly I don't know what to do with movie/clip you are currently watching,because adding this line to navbar do nothing,site just reload.

Classic YouTube seems to work and be the default in Internet Explorer. On Firefox, the option to revert back to Old Youtube is gone on my account. And the default seems to be the new layout. Appears to be a browser issue we're all suffering.
Everyone using Firefox?LOL. Looks like I'm not alone in being mightily annoyed at the changes. Hopefully, enough voices will bring about some change.

1. It used to be that when I used my main google account, Youtube would show up in the old layout. However, as I was having some issues with a recent bitdefender update, out of an abundance of caution, I cleared out my history and cookies, and now I can only see the new layout on youtube. I think there was a cookie that tied my main account to the old layout (but not my backup account, apparently).
2. In essence, I think Youtube has removed any further options for users to revert to the old style...except for users like me who never really used the new one, and had a cookie tied to the old layout...until I wiped them out. It appears to be policy, and in my opinion, a poor one at that, since Youtube has a habit of changing things without getting input from users. From the new navigation items, it's clear that youtube is trying to shape are direct traffic towards its other efforts like Youtube Kids, TV and gaming.
3. But...the new layout is laggy and buggy (shifty UI...I keep repeating it, but it never changes). Even with the dark UI, it will ocassionally load white before changing color. And worse still, some parts of the site is still using the old layout (I think under settings).
I did try the "youtube-restore-classic" /"get me old youtube" scripts. IT WORKS! Don't know how long, but I'll take it.
So.
1. If you have the original layout, DO NOT DELETE YOUR COOKIES!
2. But if you had to delete it (like I did), then the "youtube-restore-classic" /"get me old youtube" scripts are your next bets.

Have absolutely the same problem. Only in my case the Chrome settings were resent after some system crashdown and subsequent restoration.
Can't revert back to Classic YouTube and the new one is just a total crap! Maybe it looks good on mobiles or tablets, but on PC - it is AWFUL!!! So much blank space. Absolutely useless! Plus I was able to go directly to any main edit feature of the video and access awesome statictics tabs just under the video!.. The "inventor" who made the new interface should... well... let's call it "find another line of work"... because I don't want to go into swearing...
PS. And I wonder, when YouTube will finally admit that the "new YouTube" is a TOTAL FAILURE! And just delete this nightmare and revert back to normal YouTube. And that's not about "it is always hard to get used to new looks and features"!.. I tried to get used to this .... for several months already. It is just crap! Stupid and awful design decisions!
PPS. If you want something to work on: ffs finally make something about subscriptions!.. You removed COLLECTIONS several years ago and promised to implement something awesome instead. But till now - there is NOTHING!!!.. work on that if you want to work on smth... Subscription management on YouTube - is another failure!... and as to the old design it was cool enough... maybe needed some polishing but not a complete "rethinking" by some "creative" idiot...

Please restore it to classic. I can change the view of my channel by clicking "Customize Channel" button - it restores the old look for me (adding ?disable_polymer=1 or ?disable_polymer=true to the url). But as long as I open any video or other channel - it is same crappy "new YouTube" look. And there is no "restore old youtube" or "restore classic youtube" when I click on the portrait in the upper right corner as it used to be.

I don't get it! why mess around with the layout of the desktop website, how does that affect people using the YouTube app on their phones in the slightest? It just doesn't make sense at all, I was under the impression that the new layout was made with 4K smart TVs in mind or at least that's the way it seems to me. It's kinda like Windows 10 and its modern design....don't get me wrong I love and use Windows 10 on a daily basis but the whole one OS for all devices thing that Microsoft was going really seems silly to me.

Windows tried that and got their arses handed back to them on a plate. I use sties that have seperate interfaces for mobile devices and PCs and they are nowhere near the size of YT alone, let alone the whole google product group, if they can do it then YT can too.

I experienced the very same issue. I have tested by switching to the new YouTube, and now I can't switch back to the old one. YouTube is the most foolish video sharing website ever, because the good stuff (like the old YouTube) is now disabled (cannot be switched back to).
There's an extension for chrome called "Youtube Revert" but there's no such thing for other browsers.
I found a solution that you don't have to apply every time you use Youtube! So far, I've only tested it on Google Chrome so I don't know how well it works on other browsers. When you open a new tab on Chrome, you have these eight boxes underneath that show your most visited pages. I need you to clear all of them. Now, go to the Youtube website and type in
/?disable_polymer=1
right after it. Now, refresh the page three to five times until it ends up in one of those boxes beneath the search bar in Chrome. When you click on it, it takes you straight to the old platform. The only slight problem is that you can't just type in 'Youtube' in the search bar for this to work. However, if you clear all of your history and repeatedly refresh the old platform web address around ten times, it will end up being in autofill. This is pretty convenient.
Also, YouTube LIED about the new YouTube look being better than ever. It is actually the worst look anyone has ever came up with in the whole world, ever, anytime / anywhere.

danggg the disable polymer link was patched. It worked fine 5 hours ago and I could refresh with the page staying the same. Damn, youtube really doesn't want anyone using the old layout!
However, for those people (like me) who have to use the old layout, click your profile picture in the top right corner, and click creator studio, then click the youtube home button. The old layout stays until you refresh.
It worked 5 hours ago perfectly, but now Youtube patched it. Why can't they just let us have back the old version? The new one is anything but smooth and is so inconvenient. Now the desktop version looks like the mobile version, and I hate the mobile version.

I found a way but its not really 100% efficient, try typing before the URL " cache: ". Example - cache:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIEE7YKTQXU
and the old youtube will appear, but it will sign you out of your account.

If there is anything missing under the new YouTube (which was present under the old one) then please give YouTube feedback on the appropriate page at YouTube itself.

Step 1: Google Search Tampermonkey
Step 2: Whichever Browser your using such as Opera, Chrome, Firefox, etc. Add the Extension which will show Tampermonkey icon.
Step 3: Once you've add Tampermonkey extension on your browser click on the Tampermonkey icon
Step 4: Click the Dashboard on Tampermonkey
Step 5: Go back to the Reddit Link for Tampermonkey Code and copy the code.
Step 6: Return back to Tampermonkey dashboard and click on the [+] Icon
Step 7: The rest is just Select All[Crtl+ A] or Highlight the entire code
Step 8: Paste the Code & use Crtl + S [This saves the code]
That all there is to it at least this is an eaiser method then direct downloading a extension which probably will show as a potential threat to your computer.

If anyone doesn't like the wide player (the useless black area right and left of the player) you can remove it using custom CSS. I used the "enhance for Youtube" extension (since I already use it for controlling the volume with mouse wheel) and added the following CSS under the "custom theme" setting of the extension with the following code:

First line changes the width of the video container to the exact size of the video player.
The second line changes the width of the comments and related videos, to be less spread and aligned with the video player width
With a little more digging to youtube's CSS you can change other aspects like font size and family, colors ect., to bring things closer to the old layout...
The new design SUCKS BIG FRIGGIN TIME!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't like it. Please put the restore old youtube button back. We didn't ask for the change. You didn't ask us do we want it. Which manager has to justify his/her existence for this pointless change?

Hey, how about giving us back our choice? Changing the layout and saying "deal with it" is frankly a terrible decision. I disliked the new layout when it was introduced so I was glad for the option to stay with what I'm used to, what works fine and what is more ideal than making everything different. The removal of this choice is unacceptable. I want to use old YouTube again, I'm sick of getting used to new layouts when the old ones still work perfectly fine and we are used to those. So please stop removing our choice to use the established layout that we have gotten used to. Thank you.
Look, I actually kinda like the new YouTube, except it feels kinda... Lacking, especially in playlist management. In old YouTube, clicking on the title of the playlist used to take you to the list of videos in the playlist, and editing the playlist was easier - removing duplicates, sorting, changing playlist settings, and other options. Clicking on the playlist thumbnail used to start playing all the videos in order. But now, clicking on either the title or the thumbnail of a playlist starts playing all the videos... To edit the list, we have to click on the title again ( appearing on the right side of the player, followed by up next videos ), then click edit, then start editing... Whew! That's a lot of stupidity and complications... Especially for someone who works a lot with playlist - creating, saving, managing, adding all videos to another playlist or something...
So, if such minor functionality could be restored, it'd be great. Otherwise, the new design ain't that bad - modern, simpler, cleaner... And look, there's a Dark theme... Yippee!!! It just feels a little childish, little too simplified and noob friendly. It'd be nice if there was at least a little button that takes you directly to the editing page. Also, the new design doesn't apply to the whole site, you'd still get the crappy, white, uninteresting YouTube page in many places - not cool! It'd be great if the new look is consistent.
P.S. While we're at it, the Android version of YouTube is disgusting. Yes, disgusting. It's incredibly messy, buggy, lacking in functionality, keeps crashing, newly saved playlists don't show up, the list of playlists doesn't load properly if too many playlists are created or saved, sometimes the tabs go blank, there's not even an option to remove duplicate videos in playlists, editing and management is crappy... Fix it guys, make a fully functional mobile version of YouTube, we shouldn't have to turn to a computer to do basic, minor stuff... 😤
Intentionally removing the ability to stick with a layout we are used to is inexcusable. Please give us back our choice, the new YouTube is foreign, strange and many things are in different places but nothing is objectively better. All it serves to do is screw up our routines knowing where everything is by putting them in different places. And then when people finally do get used to this layout you'll just change it again. Why not stick with what people are used to, what works fine, or at least quit robbing us of the choice to stick to it ourselves?

Folks- giving feedback here, however heart-felt and/or well argued is not "pointful" (and far too easy to ignore for being "angry mob ramblings"). Please sign into/go to YouTube and use the feedback link there.
Consider being on a page where the biggest issues for you arise and then using the option to share a screenshot with the pertinent bits highlighted and/or masked. Then explain what the problem is, and not just use bad language. Better to be propelling in your arguments than just venting your spleen. That way you KNOW that someone will see it. Of course- I don't know if anything we do will help.... But if we don't at least try, we are just whistling in the wind and YouTube will continue regardless.
For me personally- the option to retire the old version is premature. Why?
- Because the new YouTube still relies on the old version for editing most anything anyway, and doesn't "work" on IE anyway.
- And it is NOT a good experience for non-app use, i.e. on desktop. Too much white, too much "moved onto another screen/hidden" content designed to make it easier for smaller screens.
It is why I haven't been using it, except to test it once in a while for users. And it is why I wont be adopting it until I must, when it is forced upon me.
Obviously these Youtube morons think having the option to have a Dark theme is better than reverting to the old format - the format we all love. Well, Youtube morons you are mistaken BIG STYLE. I have the new method to revert back to the old YouTube layout. Try the following steps if you are on Chrome and don't like the new YouTube layout:
1. Install the EditThisCookie extension from the Chrome Web Store
2. Go to YouTube and click on the EditThisCookie extension on that tab
3. Click on PREF
4. Copy the following text: &f6=8
5. Click on the check mark button and reload the page
You should get the old YouTube layout back if you do all of these steps in order.
You forgot the padlock/Secure option and then SAVE function or next time the site scripts refreshes the cookie info it will ERASE the changes you made and you have to do it all again next week...

New layout is disgusting, unintelligible and awfully slow. It takes ages to load, sometimes I need to wait for 10 seconds for it to load the comments!
And of course it will be excluded from the search segregation, right? Because poorly optimized sites are meant to be positioned lower in Google search results. New youtube page takes ages to load (compared to the old one that loaded almost intantly) so it should be moved to the bottom in search results. Why do I have a feeling that it's not what's going to happen?
you can't do the disable polymer link because it doesn't work on videos. There's another way to do it thats actually permanent
There is a new method that actually works (I'm using it right now)
follow all of the steps in this video and the script/extension download is in the description box.
One of the biggest problems I had with this extension was that when I created a new script, it wouldn't run properly. If you are a nub with stuff like this like me, you'll have some trouble with this. Here is the proper way to do it since the video only gives resources but not very good instructions.
By the way, this is only for chrome, there is another extension you have to download for firefox/internet explorer
1. Download tampermonkey from the chrome store > https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tampermonkey/dhdgffkkebhmkfjojejmpbldmpobfkfo
2. Copy the revert youtube script from this reddit thread > https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/82whs4/old_layout_option_gonegoogle_dead_to_me/dvddfem/
3. click on the extension you just downloaded. If it's not in the top right corner of the browser, click the three dots and then click the extension
4. one of the options that pop up should be 'create a new script' > go ahead and click that
5. Since you are using a pre-made script, delete all of the text that is already in the box and paste in the new script
6. click this save button -----> 
7. make sure the script is running, and you're good to go!
If you are wondering how this works or if you can get a virus from this, 1. tampermonkey is an extension that automatically runs any new scripts so you can change up any website you would like, and 2. no, if you use the direct links I give you, you should not get a virus.
You can't leave feedback there because this laggy piece of junk has some buggy script ("include screenshot") that freezes the entire site.
Today's date is Sunday 3/11/2018. I hadn't been on YouTube in 2-3 days. Upon my return (today) I was greeted with this ANNOYING newer YouTube GUI (which I had previously "rolled back" to the older layout some time in 2017). However as other users are stating, the "Restore Classic YouTube" option is not appearing in the drop-down menu.

That is not your decision to make. The forum moderators will do anything necessary, and they will certainly not listen to what anyone wants unless it is absolutely necessary. Locking the topic is not necessary for this topic at all, because there are people who post ways to get back the old YouTube layout.

So for their latest vanity project they couldn't put an announcement of the roll out? Instead you have to be the barer of bad news Lady, after all it's not like they bothered with feed back in the first placew when making announcements.
I understand why they couldn't offer a choice with the notification system, and like that the bugs in this will never be fixed, but for a skin surely that wouldn't be too complicated. Thry are now having people risking their accounts with third party addons, not that they are breaking the rules but that it won't be long before some nefarious groups start putting these things up and compromising the persons security. Had a feeling it was deliberate, but I was hoping I would be wrong.
There is a lot about the new layout I don't like, but could probably get used to. My main problem with it is the huge disgustingly bright red subscribe button that appears under videos. It is so bright that after a few seconds it looks like it's alive or vibrating and I end up getting distracted and annoyed.
As it is I just no longer watch videos from channels I'm not subscribed to.

The new design is hideous. The old layout was user-friendly and had an appealing look.
The new design hurts my eyes to look at. I'm not blind. Everything is too big. I like the condensed look of the old version. The new version also takes longer to load and the option to email videos is gone. Ugh.
i have to say, the new youtube design is terrible in many ways. the colour balance is all wrong, the borders are all removed and the font is changed. also, the comments load immediately to the second layer when opening the page, causing lots of lag. its terrible
I HATE the new youtube!!!!!!!! With the old one, I was able to add any song I enjoyed into a list of songs I created for myself i.e. OLD SCHOOL!!!!! I can still listen JUST can't add. Just use MPV. It's cross platform, supports all youtube URLs, but it doesn't update the view count. Once enough but tubers start bitching, they'll bring it back. Hit then where it hurts, MPV will NOT play publicity. Take THAT.

This is a youtube user forum. If there to lazy to use a COOKIE editior to return the OLD template... there NOT going to add an extension to force the URL into external applications and they Will be to LAZY to copy and paste URLs each and every time... into to external app... with out the required extension thats what you have to do for each video

Plus those extensions are Blocked in chrome store, so you need another extension to convert Firefox/opera extensions to work in chrome...
Also MPV is unable natively to stream any higher than 720p content with out an extension to force a remuxed 1080p feed...
So for most user moaning above there not going to touch MPV and thats if the default GUI of the player does not make them panic and delete the app...

Thank You for your response & solution (employing the "EditThisCookie" Chrome extension). I followed your instructions & it seems to have worked. For the benefit of other readers/viewers, I will simply note that the VALUE I found when I opened the PREF tab was: HIDDEN_MASTHEAD_ID=a9Q23cNd2aA&f5=30.
Per your suggestion, I replaced it with: &f6=8.
After reloading the page (www.YouTube.com), it reverted back to the older version.

I have this problem with my YouTube look and setup.Whenever I watch a video, I can never access or look at any comments posted on the video, and no suggestions for upcoming videos show up on the right. I also cannot disable Autoplay because whenever I turn it off on each individual video setting, (which is the only place that I can change it), it automatically resets to positive. Whenever I click on a video and start watching it, the only things that appear on the screen are the video, the summary and other notes made by the channel owner, and the Like and Dislike etc. buttons, (and the top bar with my account icon and the like). I would at least like the Autoplay button on the right side os the screen to appear back, and for me to see comments on the videos.
However, I am not sure if this has something to do with this, but I do not have an official YouTube account, only a Google account that I can sign into my YouTube "ID". I am not sure if I am explaining it right, but I hope this doesn't have to do anything with this problem.
I thought I was the only one experiencing this problem. Just use Stylish and change it back, its not hard. You can use it to change any background on almost any website. They have tons of facebook ones and stuff so go ahead and use that. You can also change your cursor

And, someone said it had something to do with Google accounts, but it doesn't. I have 2 channels, and both of them can't comment on any YouTube vlogs/videos. I tested loading and making comments with the new YouTube layout
and its working for me with Firefox Quantum, test with v57, v58 &
v59. You sure that the problem isn't being caused by an add-on that you
may be using? You can test this by restarting Firefox is safe mode,
Menu>Help>Restart with Add-ons Disabled... then clear cookies and
see if the problem persists. Also YouTube doesn't seem to play nicely
when you choose to block third-party cookies so make sure you have those
set to allow, Menu>Options>Privacy & Security>[under the
history section] Accept third-party cookies....it should be set to
either Always or From visited.

Well crap! I don't even have many add-ons. Hate when it does that. I still don't like this forced design onto us. And, it does behave differently than Chrome. For instance, when I click the triple-horizontal lines under the logo, I don't see the list of the same options at all. I'm about to get rid of Quantum and go back to the version previously for 64-bit computers. This one just does too many strange things to other website software changes.

The point of it is to automatically add the suffix for old YouTube without having to do it yourself when getting into a video.

I am an older YouTuber, both in age and in experience. I was on the original YouTube before Google bought it out and turned it "mainstream" and profiteering. I put up with the change for a while until Google required a link to it's other online services and I decided to delete my original channel.
Then I came back because I wanted access to the videos and create favorite music-video play lists, that's all (I still don't use your other "required services" despite being forced to link them).
I prefer the Old YouTube format. It's more organized, easy on the eyes, and I am used to it.
I don't understand why whoever is running this service thinks that change for the sake of change must needs be a "good thing." I know I am not the only user who is angry about the enforced changes. It should be no skin off your noses if some of the members prefer the old format over the new one. Forcing people to adapt to your changes when there is no need is both arrogant and insensitive to the wants and needs of your customers.
IMO you developers should take a step back and open your minds to the idea that just because YOU think something is a good idea doesn't mean everyone else will think so. That's why it is always a good idea to leave OPTIONS so those who agree can use YOUR format, and those who want to use YouTube but don't like the new format can continue to enjoy the experience using the old one.
We are not all little drones who think the same way. YouTube should not become a propaganda tool for the owners to try to make us think their way either. Stop messing with a good thing and be satisfied making your money on your overly intrusive advertising...let us endure that in exchange for enjoying it OUR way. Thanks

I have read all of those comments/complaints and I most certainly cannot agree enough with all of you. As for me, I want to point out that the biggest and probably the most annoying and irritating issue I have with the new Youtube layout is the subscription manager. I am not sure whether there is a limit to having how many subscriptions but I am sure that we can have as many subscribed channels as we want right? It would be ridiculous to set a limit or restriction to the number of subscribed channels you are allowed to have. I have over 1000 channels and the new layout always says "internal error 500" and when it works, it always only shows exactly 1000 channels when I know 101% that I have more than that. Not to say that the other subscribed channels become 'magically' unsubscribed by myself but rather the notification bell is screwed up. Whenever I try to change the notification bell to always receive new videos/news from the subscribed channel, I cannot get to the option of doing it. So, I have to resubscribe the channel and then change the notification bell. Not sure whether you guys are facing this issue/bug but this is certainly enraging me to my limit now despite me sending countless and constructive feedback to Youtube can they do not seem to do anything about it.Here, here, Anthony Nunya! And, my agreement comes as a retired software consultant. These days, they just shove new buggy releases down people's throats, and that is just NOT COOL! There should be an easy option to revert, because too many don't like this and it's full of bugs that they're making us take the time to report it to them. That's just nonsense. That's called Beta Testing, which should go on for a long time on these platforms. If the majority of your beta-testers say this is crap, do NOT release it onto the world. There are petition sites all over the internet, but they don't target executives of these platforms to pay attention. I've seen them time and again DO NOTHING! I hate the new YouTube layout! It's dysfunctional and messy. I'm no longer able to post comments on someone's video without getting the stupid circle that keeps spinning over and over. I also noticed that YouTube started publishing comments that are up to ten years old. Seriously, does Google or YouTube even bother to test this crap before pushing it out? Having or not having all of the features wasn't a problem it was the issues.
Like, you know, pages not loading at all until you open the tab (whereas normal websites just load and make sure any HTML5 type content are paused until you open the tab). And then when you do open it and it wastes 5 seconds loading that it shouldn't, the video section loads first followed by everything else and then the entire page reloads, restarting the video.A reminder IF you don't extend the expire date and padlock the Cookie... Youtube can over write the cookie back to the new template...
Youtube will also change the Cookie value or set the web site script to ignore cookie settings in time... they have done this BEFORE...IF youtube makes the choice to BLOCK out of date browsers they can remove the Classic template... As it would only block Consoles and IE web browsers an legacy hardware PCs, then they might be willing to dump those users... IE would then be treated like old builds of safari that can't load modern web sites and be ignored...

Since youtube yet again shrinked the autoplay button, many people don't notice it, and usually watch one video, and then youtube keeps on autoplaying, and most likely plays ads on the next video so youtube can make more money and views. Its much more complicated than this, and I can't really explain it without a diagram.

I've only just noticed this today. And I must say I'm disappointed - yet again.
The new design is laggy, and the general layout of videos is clonky and it isn't as optimized like it was in the earlier design.
Adding a video to a playlist was more intuitive and again, a less laggy experience than it is now.
All the channels are also very big in the left side, and scrolling down in the list isn't a 'smooth experience' either.
It can be compared to the experience of installing Windows 10 on hardware too old for that OS in my opinion.
And people expect more from a company that allegedly have some of the greatest minds on the planet on payroll.

My MAIN complaint (I can live with the rest of the changes, even though I think they are ridiculous), is the GRID SEARCH is no longer available. Why is that? I hate having to scroll down constantly to see one video recommendation at a time when I do a search. Why would you foist this on your users?

Clearly youtube/google is doing something a lot of people don't like. everytime i clicked restore old youtube and it asked me why, i always said "stop trying to fix something thats not broke"
the new design sucks and its harder to find information about the video now. please turn back on the option to use the old version. i don't think theres anyone out there who actually likes it.

If you are on Chrome and don't like the new YouTube layout, I recommend that you try the following steps in order:
1. Install the EditThisCookie extension from the Chrome Web Store2. Go to YouTube and click on the EditThisCookie extension on that tab3. Click on PREF4. Copy and paste the following text: &f6=8. Paste it over the old text &f6=1004 if you can see it5. Click on the check mark button and reload the pageYou should get the old YouTube layout back if you do all of these steps in order in Chrome.
If you are on Firefox and don't like the new YouTube layout, please click on the link below and watch the entire video to know how you can get the old YouTube layout back.
This is outrageous. The fuck are we, their slaves? Yahoo Mail changed its UI too, but it implemented the option to keep the old UI. Every time I check my mail I get asked to switch to the new UI but I just press "Maybe later" and that's it, I'm using the old UI without any problem.
Why can't Youtube do this too? Is it that hard? They already implemented it once, why did they have to remove the option? They are fucking cunts. I'll make a daily support ticket asking to get back the option to restore the old Youtube.

But one thing I really hate is this f***ing new theater mode. It's not even a real 720p player...
I was admiring Youtube for having a real 720p player rather than old Twitch's blur player. Now Twitch has a real 720p player and Youtube has a stupid upscaled blur 800-900p player instead of a 720p one.
I've already sent thousands of feedback about this new crappy theater mode but they never answered and of course never changed it.
Now I don't know in which player should I watch videos, in the small 480p player or in this new stupid "720p" player.
At least give us this option back, not everyone likes new styles and layouts, why do you take away form us this option to get the older layout?
