Video not available on mobile MSchmidke 10/12/09 10:03 PM
Hello All!

Everybody is speaking about the brillant music video made by canadian students, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zcOFN_VBVo. But I cannot view it on my Android G1. The video "is not available on mobile devices". Does anybody know the reason why? Misconfiguration or with intent?

Marcus.

Some people do not make their videos available to mobile devices.  The ones you're trying to play may have that privacy setting.

where in the heck is that setting? I have several videos, and a few are not available on mobile.  all the settings I can SEE are the same, but I don't see a mobile setting.

WHY would you need to limit a video from being played mobile anyway?

OK Bin, if there's a privacy setting to make videos unavailable on mobile devices, what is that setting? I have several dozen videos uploaded to our company account, and only a third of them are playable on mobile devices. I see no setting during the upload process that would ban a video from mobile play, and the files are all the same type and came from the same exporter.

THIS IS STEP BY STEP TO FIX THE REFERENCED PROBLEM "NOT AVAILABLE ON MOBILE".

Go to:

1. Your Account

2. Your Uploaded Videos

3. Click "EDIT" on video in question

4. Scroll down into "Broadcasting and Sharing Options"

5. Click on "Syndication"

7. Select "Yes..."

Advice still required please.  Following the above instruction worked on my video (and I could then view it on my mobile) for a while but it later reset itself to the "No, this video should not be available on mobile phones and TV".  Has anyone any idea why this happens and what I can do to permanently enable viewing on mobile devices?
Re: Video not available on mobile seschwan 2/3/10 5:43 PM
I also have that problem where 2 of my videos won't play on mobile devices. I change the syndication and it will allow it for about 24 hours then it will automatically reset it self to "No, this video should not be available on mobile phones and TV". I have noticed that these 2 videos do say that "Video is blocked in some countries", so i don't know if that has something to do with it or not.

Any info on how to fix this would be great.

WHY IS NOBODY RESPONDING TO THIS ISSUE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Re: Video not available on mobile opticron 5/10/10 8:57 AM
The problem is that some people want to make a distinction between mobile devices (like PDAs, smart phones, and MIDs) and less mobile devices (like laptops and desktops) where no such distinction actually exists because we all use the same internet.  If I can do something from my laptop, I better be able to do it from my phone, whose specs are actually better than those of my laptop, since THEY BOTH USE THE SAME DAMN INTERNET.  If said functionality is lacking, I suggest you find a way to enable the functionality someone has decided to lock away for arbitrary reasons.

I have everything set correctly and it's still not working.  What the heck?!

That is all well and good that you detect mobile browsers, but how is that detection done? If this is done with user agent of the browser then I am happy to switch it.  If it uses the ip address, then I worries about those devices which tether through a mobile device.

My video says "Sorry not available" in the youtube android app (Android 2.1).  I have made sure the privacy settings allow for mobile and TV.  But when I go try to play only My video, not others, it wont play it and says "Sorry this video is unavailable".  I am baffled as to what the issue could be since it plays just fine on non-mobile.
Re: Video not available on mobile PhotoLarry 6/9/10 10:42 PM
Is it possible the format is wrong for mobile?  I am not sure what else I can try to solve this issue.
Re: Video not available on mobile LOLLIEBOY 7/9/10 12:04 AM
I uploaded a video to youtube, then i went to Info & Settings and down the bottom it says Syndication, i ticked the circle that says: Yes, make this video available on mobile phones and TV. And i can view my video on my iPod touch, but every day it resets itself to: No, this video should not be available on mobile phones and TV. How can i make it stay on this setting? Does anyone know?
Re: Video not available on mobile LOLLIEBOY 7/9/10 12:08 AM
@seschwan Yeah i am having the same problem as you, it resets itself to NO every day. I cant make it stay on YES. Does anyone know what to do?
Re: Video not available on mobile spambanjo 7/9/10 2:16 AM
@LOLLIEBOY It may be because you have a song on your video that Youtube see's to be in breach of copyrigh.

@pop321 and @Solution Finder... Nice adverts, posts reported. The solution has already been suggested several times. This happens due to copyright material being used. Simples.
