|Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||JDSCAU||10/17/11 8:19 PM|
I'd like to make a complaint about the World Of Tanks ad that appears in the square ad box in the top right corner of YT's home page. I have few issues with ads on websites, but it is ridiculous to have an ad that has sound on a site that has it's own sound source (user videos). There have been countless times where I've been playing a video in a new tab and all of a sudden, World Of Tanks starts up with an ad.
Please, no ads with sound.

I agree !

|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||speaknow||10/20/11 11:19 AM|
How can you top the sound. This is crazy.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Eidolon64||10/21/11 6:35 AM|
It's even worse: you can mute the sound of the ad, (clicking the white speaker icon, bottom-right) but after a few minutes it un-mutes itself!
This is totally crazy!!
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||ytrebecca||10/21/11 1:28 PM|
Thanks for the heads up on this everyone. We're going to take a look at what's going on with this ad.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||speaknow||10/21/11 4:38 PM|
And here I had decided it was a Google experiment. I was "selected" :)
I can't imagine this lasting very long if Google employees had to endure it.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||halocore||10/23/11 1:14 PM|
YES, completely agree. There should not be ads with sound that completely block out the sound of a video. This ad now comes in probably about 30% of videos I watch on youtube now. Worse is when it sometimes loads in the ad space at the very bottom of the page and you have to scroll all the way down to mute it (which it then tends to unmute itself a few minutes later).
Please remove this ad or at least have so mute is on by default. In my opinion, there should be no ads with sounds within video pages.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||felchi80||10/24/11 6:40 PM|
Please make this ad dissapear. I found a way to at least stop... right click and "stop download"... i hate this ads...... very loud and annoying.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||felchi80||10/24/11 6:41 PM|
i dont even see the mute button.... lol
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Dabruuzer||10/25/11 5:05 PM|
Please do something about this - it is horrible, and enough to make me stop using YouTube.

God, give me an alternative to Youtube if I need to deal with that BS
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||speaknow||10/26/11 1:23 PM|
I am fascinated that this ad exists like it does. Can you imagine if all ads were this intrusive. Why do these people get away with it?
As it is, the page is not useable. When the ad starts shooting me I click any link to get off the page.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||ytrebecca||10/26/11 6:10 PM|
Are you still seeing this ad?
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||kidhash||10/26/11 6:27 PM|
Yes! It came on just now. So stupid and annoying - how on earth did it slip through?

|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||zarovich1980||10/26/11 10:46 PM|
plesae youtube and all other services ban this awful insulting blast of noise. I dont see how it benefits them, it positions them as online garbage, but please exterminate World of Tanks ads, ill try again in a week if it still blasts my ears again I am done with your service
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Ryan_Hill||10/26/11 11:22 PM|
It kinda makes youtube unbearable to stay on. I'm afraid that it's going to go off again and ruin the videos I'm watching.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||ausdave5555||10/27/11 9:28 AM|
Yep, third time this week i've bailed out of youtube because of the world of tanks ad...
Net effect of advertisement on revenue = - $ lots
I wonder what other youtube-esque sites I should be considering.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Nexx295||10/27/11 12:59 PM|
They must remove that bloody ad! This is definitely the most annoying ad I've ever seen.
I'll start using ad blockers or stop visiting YouTube if that ad won't get removed very soon.
Do they even review the ads before publishing them? Apparently not...
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||moldboy||10/27/11 1:07 PM|
People, People, it is very simple, we all need to start clicking on that ad so that "World of Tanks" has to keep paying up, since none of us are actually going to sign up for their product the advertising account will quickly run out of money and it will stop appearing. Simple. Also it has been a week since a "Google Employee" has looked into this, it's still there, it is very very annoying. It is enough to stop using youtube, or as was suggested, run ad blocker or similar.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||moldboy||10/27/11 1:10 PM|
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||speaknow||10/27/11 1:55 PM|
@moldboy is of course correct. It is funny how we feel helpless to what we consider abuse when we do have remedies. Voting with your feet is powerful, but youtube is normally pretty amazing. I am really curious why Google is running this obnoxious ad, but clicking on it is a sensible approach.
That is, unless this really is an experiment to test our tolerance. It is so bad, it makes me curious.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||I3VI5||11/1/11 4:42 PM|
The youtube ads with sound are getting really annoying. How haven't they noticed that?! Do google employees even use youtube?
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Hackepeter||11/2/11 6:08 AM|
Yeah it's really annoying. I always have to pause the video and leave fullscreen just to disable the ad. I already hate the game without even knowing something about it ^^
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||maxisma||11/2/11 6:29 AM|
STOP THIS AD, god dammit.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Miniduffa||6/12/12 9:14 AM|
What I think is worse is the 'World of Tanks' ad that appears on videos. It causes the screen to move about 5cm to the right. Or at least it does on Google Chrome.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Rickyleo||6/15/12 8:46 PM|
Seriously, what Miniduffa said.
Every time the World of Tanks ad appears in the rectangle ad box during a video, it shifts the video to the right. Any part of the video that is off to the right will now be off the screen and unseeable.
Making the video fullscreen will sometimes make the video centered again (until you leave fullscreen again, in which state the video is still off-center), or in some cases it will move the video further to the right and off-screen.
This is seriously annoying, and renders some videos un-watchable. This has been happening on any youtube video with a World Of Tanks ad appearing on it for at least a couple months now if not longer. Please fix this soon.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Rickyleo||6/15/12 8:48 PM|
Oh, and for the record, I use Firefox. So the fact that it's happening to me and Miniduffa who uses Chrome shows that it's not just a singular browser problem, it's a problem with the ad itself.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||LgacyX6||6/15/12 10:24 PM|
AdBlockers save you the trouble.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||CopyableRug||6/19/12 5:08 AM|
I have a problem with the ad on videos. It displays incorrectly and somehow shifts the entire video to the right. It leaves black space about a fifth of the width of a regular video on the left and cuts off the same amount on the right. As well as this, the "X" is on the top right so I can't exit it and so the ad itself covers the bottom quarter of the video too. Viewing in Chrome.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Wolfsting||6/19/12 9:09 AM|
That Entire advert messes with everything
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Hokkus||6/20/12 3:30 AM|
This seems to be a resize issue. If u resize the website (ctrl+mouse wheel) the flash video moves differently than rest of youtube (only if u had the World of Tanks ad). if u havent resized youtube, the world of tanks ad does nothing. To fix the issue: ctrl+ mouse wheel till the flash player connects with the youtube frame. I still hope google fixes this since its caused only by the world of tanks ad. The flash player moving offscreen also happened on streams with world of tanks ad, not just on youtube. If they dont read this topic anymore, someone please pass this information to google cause im too lazy.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||gman115||6/20/12 7:39 AM|
I've never encountered that problem, maybe Google have fixed it by now, however, I've noticed another problem with a "world of tanks" ad. When it appears at the bottom of the video player screen when viewing a video, it shifts the whole video player screen to the right, so the buttons to change view size, and most importantly, to close the ad, are hidden and unusable. I'm not sure who's at fault here, but 2 different highly intrusive ads from the same company doesn't seem like coincidence, and I suggest Google stop showing "world of tanks" adverts for good
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Aloverssoulz||6/25/12 6:10 AM|
The ad still shifts the video to the right. I have to watch it in full screen to fix the issue. Such a pain because YouTube's player is also buggy as Hell lately.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Jy3||6/25/12 5:27 PM|
What are you doing youtube ...
This ad is still used and still shift away the player to the right.
Why on earth is this ad still here ?
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||chiralTC||6/27/12 12:02 AM|
Does Anybody know how to complain more directly, this is ridiculous.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||NeapolitanSixth||6/28/12 6:23 AM|
I'm also having this problem; it doesn't play sound for me, but it does break the video player, and causes me to be unable to close the ad; see the attached image. Can we please fix this, it's terribly obnoxious.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Xeltrio||7/2/12 8:06 AM|
it has been like this for months now... how hard can it be to fix it?
Get to it google
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||elitisty||7/5/12 4:53 AM|
Chiming in here to notify Google that I will be blocking Youtube ads indefinitely, due to the world of tanks in-video ads that shift your video to the right in order to prevent the user from closing the ad. I recommend that everyone here do the same.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Vovegog||7/6/12 12:19 AM|
Hey, YouTube. The world of tanks-ad is still there, but now as a pop-up thing in videos, and it shifts my videos out of the screen to. I WILL use AdBlock till you fix this, cuz this shit is just ridiculous, and I don't stand by it as a consumer.
Fix your shit.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||X-7000||7/7/12 9:01 AM|
Youtube wont allow me to post anymore comments when all I was trying to do was help people having difficulties. Einstein was made by short comments like these. What do you want me to do, get a job with a bullshit media company that over pays their employees. Do you want me to go this guy is the greatest guy since take that.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||landsharkkidd||7/8/12 5:55 AM|
Can I complain about it, it's just a normal ad like any other but it moves the video I'm watching to the right so it cuts off a bit. It's not super annoying, but I'd love to watch the whole video if you know what I mean.

|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||apollolbin||7/10/12 8:26 AM|
the world of tanks ad does it on purpose, it moves the screen to the right so that u can't press the button to close the ad, this should be illegal and they should not be able to advertise on youtube, god dammit and this faking game is retarded too
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Dragon18||7/12/12 7:02 PM|
I hope they do something, because it´s truly annoying
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Howler54||7/14/12 12:24 PM|
I have had problems with the World of tanks ad for a very long time now. EVERY SINGLE TIME I get that ad on a video (and I get it A LOT), the videoscreen glitches and moves to the right.
I don't understand how you guys at Google havn't fixed this yet. Come on!

|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Mr_Moose||7/21/12 11:34 AM|
This problem has been occurring for months now, and after seeing the massive amount of complaints for the same ad I'm appalled at Google's inability to resolve this issue/listen to it's users.

SORT THIS BLOODY ADD OUT, FOR GOD SAKE!
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||antoniho||7/23/12 4:37 AM|
Even when I try fullscreen, my video still shifts to the right! I have to zoom out a lot to see the whole player, or refresh till I get another ad! This is ridiculous.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||TwistyMeat||7/23/12 6:04 AM|
LOL SOUNDS TO ME LIKE YOU ALL HAVE ADWARE / SPYWARE INSTALLED. YOUTUBE DOESNT HAVE AD WITH AUTO PLAYING SOUND AND NEVER HAS DONE, WHAT YOU HAVE DONE IS INSTALL THIRDPARTY SOFTWARE WHICH HAS HIJACKED YOUR BROWSER TO SHOW DIFFERENT ADS TO WHAT SHOULD BE SHOWING. SO BEFORE COMING HERE AND RANTING, STOP DOWNLOADING BULLSHIT SOFTWARE. AND REMOVE ALL TOOLBARS FROM YOUR SYSTEM, AND THEN CHECK IF THE AD IS STILL THERE, SCREEN SHOTS WOULD BE HELPFULLL IF ANYONE CAN GET THEM
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Dragon18||7/23/12 6:58 AM|
Dude i haven´t installed any software to hide the ads, so SHUT UP if you are not going to say something productive :)
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||anmoose||7/23/12 8:58 AM|
@TwistyMeat, this is a known issue with the ad that staff has been aware of since last October. It is an issue either with the ad or with the player, and they have so far done absolutely nothing in the way of fixing it. No, it does not involve third party software or bullshit toolbars, it is a very real bug with the ad. And if you'd take the time to look through this thread and other related ones, you'd find those screenshots.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Jcollins17||7/23/12 10:16 AM|
get an ad blocker and configure it to block ads like that. i use it, but dont disable all ads, only ones like you described so the website still makes money, but i still have an enjoyable experience

Sorry youtube, I've installed addblock and set it up to only block youtubes ads
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Fester B||7/31/12 2:37 AM|
Use AdBlock and/or Greasemonkey scripts to get rid of the ads.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||JP96||8/5/12 10:51 AM|
Nor should the adverts displace the video off to one side, I think than you really need to reconsider your contract with world of tanks, their adverts are ruining the experience for everyone
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||anmoose||8/5/12 11:20 AM|
YouTube has had ten months, now, to "reconsider," and they've made it apparent that they don't care. The only thing left now would be to go to World of Tanks, and tell them what is going on. I'd think that if they knew what YouTube's negligence is doing to their image, they'd do something about it.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Eraos||8/8/12 10:17 AM|
Agree with Iliketrains very much. I've been holding off on installing AdBlock because I _want_ to support YouTube for the videos that I watch, but this is getting absurd.
This is an exceptionally long-lived problem, and it is REALLY annoying. Fix it already, before even more of your users (me included) go the AdBlock route.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Dwerg||8/15/12 8:00 PM|
I'm having the same problem on the latest Chrome on Windows 7 x64. This is extremely annoying and I have had enough, I'm giving you the finger YouTube and I'm blocking your stupid ads... Tell me when it's fixed and I'll remove the ad blocker.
I encourage everyone to do the same until it's fixed, we are strong in numbers.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Fester B||8/16/12 1:25 AM|
Why wouldn't you be blocking ads anyway? I block every ad I see on any site.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Iliketrains934934||8/16/12 2:49 AM|
To let the maker of the site earn money without asking us for donations or making some crazy premiums?
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Fester B||8/16/12 3:31 AM|
Well, in my opinion it is a wrong way to earn a living when it involves pesting the lives for those who the site was meant for in the first place. I despise ads so much that I will never use a site which I cannot block ads from. To me it doesn't make any difference if a site has unblockable ads or if it is not there at all. The result is the same - I never visit it.
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Iliketrains934934||8/16/12 4:04 AM|
Most sites that you use would never exist if they did't start out with ads
Hosting and domain costs
And what do the ads do to you? Are they disturbing or blocking your view = block
Are they in a footer or somewhere where you don't even notice them = leave it alone and let the developer get that 1cent
|Re: Complaint - World Of Tanks Ad||Fester B||8/16/12 6:59 AM|
They are annoying simply because they are there. Ads in general bug me, because they pest everything with their presence. You can't do anything without getting ads thrown in your face - the streets, the newspaper, the television, the internet, the movies, they are everyhere. On the internet I at least have the option of getting rid of them, and that is what I do, no matter how they are presented. I just hate them, and they have to go, and I don't care what sites are not able to survive without them.

It's very good for us too to get feedback, thank you.
I have heard it works fine when the browser is zoomed to 100%, I think the problem comes from a problem with the ad and zooming in the browser.
I can give you some debug information that might help. The debug info is taken on a ordinary video where the problem happened before, but I don't see the World of Tanks ad anymore so I couldn't reproduce the problem. This shows scale and sizes and some other information you could find useful.
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1
Browser: Chrome 21.0.1180.79 (using 175% zoom on YouTube)
