|Youtube mixing subscriptions and recommended videos||CrashingThunder||6/14/12 12:35 PM|
Not sure if everyone has this now, but recommended videos are now part of my subscription feed, and it's quite annoying. They used to be on the right side of the page, and I was fine with that, but now it's really difficult to watch the videos I actually want to watch. And before you ask, I do have the "Show Uploads Only" box checked.

UGH I hear you bro. They reccomended to me both old videos from people i subscribed to, AND people who I didn't subscribe to, ALL IN THE SAME CATEGORY.
I have "show uploads only" AND "Everything" ticked off. (not highlights) AND ALL I SEE IS CRAP.
WTF IS YOUTUBE THINKING. I WAS BETTER OFF TWO FREAKING VERSIONS AGO!!!

It's another of their lunatic experiments, which they're inflicting on a percentage of users without notice. Nice of them, eh?
Deleting YouTube cookies has been known to reset it and return the page to normal. Or at least as "normal" as the front page gets these days....
|Re: Youtube mixing subscriptions and recommended videos||CrashingThunder||6/14/12 1:10 PM|
Deleting cookies fixed it. Don't know why I didn't think of that before. I'm pretty content with the "normal" Youtube front page. If I get to see my subscriptions, that's all I really care about.

I sure i once read when they make these stupid changes its to help use make "more informed decisions" on what we watch, yet all that happens is they make it more difficult for me to see the videos i actually want to see.
Instead showing me "higjlights" or mixing the "recommended videos" with user uploads. Not to mention removing the add to playlist option so now i have one massive watch later playlist.
Please change it back.

I want things to be as they should be. At this rate, it'll end up killing YouTube like they did with their crappy video service.

Brilliant job, Youtube, just mash everything together into one incoherent list, with actual uploads and suggestions only differentiated by tiny lines of text. For the love of god, can't you make this kind of crap a toggle-able option?? I don't want the dang suggestions at all, that's why I have subscriptions in the first place, so I don't have to watch the other 96% of the junk that's here, but I was at least content with them being on the side, and out of the way.

go to your cookies and delete the "VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE" string and you should be good again.

Thanks! This had really helped me out.

Thanks had this issue as well. It's very annoying
|Re: Youtube mixing subscriptions and recommended videos||xkore||6/17/12 2:04 AM|
Oh I definitely noticed this. I was so annoyed because it would recommend videos and I thought they were new uploads but they aren't. I tried to re-pin my subscriptions and now I can't even do that at all. I went as far as deleting my youtube history just to have the homepage show me uploads from people I don't even subscribe to! It's ridiculous really.

A big thanks for pointing out which one was the problem. That fixed it right up.

I just got put on this stupid layout as well and It was so stupid that at first I thought my browser had simply not displayed the youtube homepage correctly, then I realised that it was actually some sort of new layout!
Why are google determined to destroy YouTube?
They've made it ugly, given us a terrible homepage that looks untidy and unorganised, and now they are just doing random things like mixing recommended videos with subscriptions. It's horrifying.

I found if you pause your viewing history in your video manager section under history stops the recommended videos from appearing. I guess it goes off your viewing history.
|Re: Youtube mixing subscriptions and recommended videos||AAkos||6/19/12 3:32 AM|
I guess I understand what they're trying to do, but it's really annoying because the recommendations are completely overtaking the subscriptions. So far since the change, I've switched to just going to the subscriptions page from my account name at the top-right. However, that only keeps a certain number of videos. And the load more button at the bottom of the subscription box is broken again anyway.

I said it before, and I'll say it again - The whole YouTube 'team' from managers to the lowest IT guy needs to be fired and a whole new group of employees who actually use and appreciate YouTube needs to be hired!
|Re: Youtube mixing subscriptions and recommended videos||Timasu||6/19/12 10:58 AM|
I agree! I don't want to have to sift through the "recommended" videos to see the ones I subscribed to. Please put them back on the side.

Thank you so much for this! I was just about to give up on using my youtube homepage. This made it useful again. Hey youtube: QUIT BREAKING THINGS! I subscribed to things for a reason. I expect you to respect that and keep my subscriptions seperated from everything else!
