seems to affect the drag + drop only. Use the Browse button. Works for me!

Ditto, It happened just after I noticed the new Google look, I thought it was the browser at fault, anyone for any clue?

Well like mentioned before, the drag and drop function doesn't work but if you click the little camera in the search box and select upload from computer, it works fine that way.

Sure, the camera icon works. Only takes about 10 times as long, though.

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. LunarShaddow 10/11/13 11:40 PM
lol I even changed the picture's format several times to ensure there's not a format corruption in image data.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. anyone mok 10/12/13 1:17 AM
to all: you can browse to the file instead of dragging it, till google fix it.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. fixgoogleimagesyo 10/12/13 3:58 AM
+1. You'd think this would be a problem for like, an hour? Why don't they temporarily revert to the way it was? It just seems lackluster to leave the new broken format up for so long.

I don't think that Google schedules Bugs like this. :-) It's unsolved for about 24 hours or so.

I managed to drag and drop some images this morning. It worked fine for a while. Now I'm getting the following message: Images must be larger than 20 bytes! They are way larger than that!

Use 'Search by Image' *small camera icon in Search field.

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Travis Gray 10/12/13 10:43 AM
Lol it seems like a lot of people are too lazy to browse for the picture; apparently it takes too long. It takes me a whole 5 seconds longer to click a couple more things than to sit here and freak out about the drag and drop function not working.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. AL6 10/12/13 11:22 AM
Travis, if you don't like people reporting bugs then don't read bug reports.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. juanmo 10/12/13 11:39 AM
its not laziness... i have to do a search of many images, not just one, and it gets tedious to do a browsing for each of the 60 images or so, when with the previous system it was ten times faster.

I suddenly am getting the same issues. I think Google no longer is supporting it anymore. I've tried all formats too. They just didn't remove. Probably something to do with copyright issues...

Please stop telling us about clicking the camera. Everyone knows that, and it's fine if you only want to search one or two pictures. But it is NOT a viable alternative for anyone who uses the facility a lot, like I do.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Rodney Gaines 10/13/13 2:38 PM
I take it, the last reply was NOT directed towards me. Sometime, I guess we must take real-time updates via Email with a grain--or two of salt. Sugar might be a sweeter alternative, please no sodium saccharin. So, any REAL news? or has Image Search been shut down with the Government?

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Rodney Gaines 10/13/13 4:27 PM
Actually, it has, it works but you can't be lazy, No dropping photos in search boxes, you have to "upload" from your directory. i.e. explore (Winders) Nautilus for those of us who prefers the Gnome style desktop in Linux.... Y'know--"the old fashioned way". I assume it was a boo-boo in a basic script someone wrote, no doubt the code money will be in the principal's office first thing in the morning and the typo corrected by lunch time. At least us lazy people hope so.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Jerry K Stevens 10/13/13 4:30 PM
Yeah, I think we all got that since this is about the tenth post that says exactly the same thing. It's not a huge deal but we would like it to be fixed.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Jarron Remington 10/13/13 8:05 PM
YES, we can BROWSE but when you have to do multiple images for whatever reason, D&D is MUCH faster.  It's not about being lazy- it's about having a feature that we expect to work, not work. If they give us drag and drop, drag and drop should work. It would be like, if every time you used spell check you would have to browse or download the dictionary first. It might work, but it would not be as convenient.
Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Rodney Gaines 10/13/13 8:23 PM
(sigh) I guess some people can see sarcasm in they see it. It happened over the weekend, it will probably be fix sometime before none PDT. Hey, it could have been worse! Remember last week when Youtube's flash player was starting up in mute mode? Oh, that's really bad. I had to TURN UP THE VOLUME... see, I'm lazy too.

it's been like that for 3+ days here at the very least now.

not sure what google meant by SOON...

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. UndertakerBDoll 10/14/13 1:26 AM

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Suzanne Corson 10/14/13 9:41 AM
Also still getting the error, 9:40 a.m. PST, 10/14.

(BTW, I've tried using the Chrome extension that is supposed to allow you to right click a photo from the web and you can choose to search via Google Images there, but I keep getting an error that the file is too big, no matter what size it is. Argh)

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Jesse § Hall 10/14/13 12:00 PM
The drag and drop is broken, but like others have mentioned before me the old(er) browse option still functions.
I would love it if this were fixed.  Thanks for working on it, have a nice day!

Re: The image must be in one of the following formats: .jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .tif, or .webp. Rodney Gaines 10/15/13 12:49 PM
Not only is it working, but last night I noticed some of the bugs were removed. larger images can be used without my Linux based PC going into a Memory overload (An error was produced saying image too large--well after it bogged it down for 30 seconds), at which point I had to rescale it to try again.

I guess sometimes you have to break something to fix it.

Thanks
