More information please.
What device are you using?
Which operating system?
Which browser/version or app?
Which "display page"?
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? noah o 11/20/13 7:59 PM
i have the same problem. googles results are just text a couple words per line on the very left side of the screen. I can't use the engine at all.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? bluequoll 11/20/13 8:27 PM
noah o:
It sounds like your problem is using Internet Explorer browser.
You might be able to fix it by changing the compatibility settings.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? nealeigh 11/21/13 11:28 AM
Hi everyone,

We've escalated this issue to the Search team. A fix is in the works.

Thanks for your patience!

Best,
Nealeigh

I am also having the same problem.  It only happened after windows update installed internet explorer 11.  I did a system restore back to version 10 and everything worked fine.  Thought it may have been a glitch, but I accomplished to update back to internet explorer 11 again and all the text is on the left with only 1 or 2 words per line.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Shannon... 11/24/13 2:23 PM
Hello Wayne,

Here are some ideas I would like to toss out to you to consider.  Have you tried changing the compatibility settings as bluequoll mentioned?  I would suggest unchecking "Use Microsoft compatibility lists."  Then closing and reopening your browser.

Another idea would be to try "disabling" the Google Toolbar?  Then again closing and reopening your browser.

Since the issue has been escalated to the Google Team, hopefully a solution will be coming up soon.

I also have the same problem, and I checked the compatibility and it wasn't active. Any other suggestions?
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Todd Babs 11/24/13 10:23 PM
is there a fix to this yet? mine worked fine yesterday and all my searches are showing up all crammed within the left side only in about 1 inch of screen?
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Todd Babs 11/25/13 1:41 PM
I'm running IE 11, compatibility mode is off and its still not displaying properly would appreciate a fix here sometime soon for this?

Hey Todd,

On the 21st nealeigh, a Community Manager at Google, escalated the issue to the Search team.  Hopefully, there will be a resolution soon.

I'm having this problem also.
Hopefully they'll get this fixed soon, in the mean time my husband found that after we search for something, hit images under the search bar then go back to web.
It temporarily corrects the problem. :•)
Hope this helps some for the time being.

I am having the same problem and it is so challenging to deal with.  Has anyone identified a fix?
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Mark Se. 11/30/13 8:11 AM
I am also having trouble using Google search.... Everything lines up on the left side and if I want to search, I have to hit images first and then click on web from the images page.
How long before Google has this problem fixed ???
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Elocution 11/30/13 8:22 AM
At this point I stopped using google search and from the luck I've had on forums... they're not going to do anything.  I've followed all steps as far as compatibility settings, if I have to go backwards to fix it, have threads on the forum moved/deleted... I'm going to find a new browser.

The problem seems simple and many users have had the same issue, but I'm just told by moderators to search the forums because there are other posts about the issue.  I can't find any, not any that actually solve the issue...

I am done with scroogle search, google can thank the helpful forum moderators for putting the final nail in.

Hey Elocution,

Nealeigh one of our Community Managers at Google escalated this to the Google engineers on the 21st of November.  Hopefully this will be resolved soon.

Sorry for the inconvenience,

In a different discussion on the same subject:
http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/websearch/TP2qWYOo3L4/discussion
user jglaziers reported a temporary workaround: in Search Settings, select Never show Instant results.

Has anyone else tried this, and did it work?
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 11/30/13 1:32 PM
I tried it and it worked (Win7 - 64b, IE11)

BUT, you got to be signed in to Google to save the setting and you got to be signed in to Google to use Google Search with this setting :-(

Not what I want to have to go thru, if I want a quick search - without having to sign-in!.

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 11/30/13 1:42 PM
Adding my posting from the 'other' site that bluequoll quoted:

http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/websearch/TP2qWYOo3L4/discussion

The strange part: We have two machines, both Win 7 with 64-bit (both HP). Her default browser is IE11, mine is Chrome. We both have IE11, Chrome and Firefox on our machines.
I never had any problem with Google Search on my HP, even when I use IE11 and my setting (default??) at 'Google Instant predictions' is checked "Only when my computer is fast enough".
My wife's machine is set exactly the same in IE11, but she gets the garbage display, except when she checks the option "Never show instant results" as you indicated.
I am pulling my (remaining) hair! Anybody with any ideas??

BTW, things started happening after the latest update for IE 11 on 11/10/2013. Any help from MS will be appreciated!

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? bluequoll 11/30/13 2:15 PM
I'm a bit mystified myself. I have IE11 on a Win7/64 machine and it behaves OK. I can't get it to display the reported behaviour, whatever I do — changing IE settings, Google settings, etc. — so I can't even test any fixes or workarounds.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 11/30/13 2:27 PM
Thank you Shannon!
I hope it is not a case like the Event Flair page that is on page #30 now, and 7 mos after the Google Community Managers said they are working on it!

I'm having the same issue. Everything is left justified on google searches. I noticed this when I updated to windows 8.1. It's really annoying. Please help.

Hey Temigood,

Check out the suggestion by iGlaziers. This discussion also is about the left justification issue.

"Windows 8.1 Google Search Results now displayed as a list with one word per line"

In english it means:

Still does not make sense :-(

I think it means "Google Search has been stopped (or is not working).
Plz give the tablet type/version
Its OS
Browser used

Or in Google italian:

Penso che significa "Google Search è stato interrotto (o non funziona).
Plz dare il tipo di tablet / version

Thank you Carmen for getting back to us!
Questions:
1. Which one of the "remedies" worked for you?
2. Your OS? Win7 ot 8? Or something else?
3. Browser IE11??

Thank you!!

Here's what worked for me to solve the "text on left side problem".  Click on  "Settings" at bottom of Google Search Page.  Next, click on "Search Settings".  Under "Google Instant Predictions" heading, choose "Never show instant results" radio button.  I set my choice of results at 40, seems to work fine.  This problem started after resent Windows 7 update and IE11 install.  Good luck.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Elocution 12/2/13 12:31 PM
Doing this worked for me, kind of... the results aren't left justified, but they are only about 6" wide on the page.  The ads to the right are HUGE.

progress, I'm still not satisfied that it's fixed.

I also HATE the predictive auto fill google uses to input what it thinks I want  before I'm done typing.  Giant waste of time, I have to redo it every single time...but that's for a post in another section. (settle down moderators)

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 12/2/13 6:07 PM
Things are getting weird-er!
As I reported before on MY machine (Win7/64 and IE11) I had no problem...
Just now it did the same thing: All squeezed to the left side of the screen!
What did I changed just earlier?? I re-installed Constant Guard Protection Suit from Symantec/Comcast.net. Is this another mix-up?
Since I have the problem now on my machine, I did the selection of "Never show instant results"...and it did work well.
But this is NOT a solution, especially with a 20 MB connection...Too many cooks in the kitchen and they spoiled it for all  of us!

PS @Elocution: I would love ANY indication that some Google-ite is monitoring ANY of these forums (fora??? I hate the term!)

I am having the same issue.  I'm not able to use it.  I have no problems with other search engines or web pages, just google.  I am using Windows 7.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 12/3/13 12:06 PM
@kamy107: If you want to stay with IE11, use this solution - one of a few published on this forum:

Install the Google Toolbar from: (http://downloads.gufile.com/V1/google-toolbar?gclid=CJDjkfXDkLsCFYlAMgodPBIAhA)

Open up Google Search on IE11. Ignore the window in the middle of the screen - go to the one in the Google Toolbar and type in your search object. All's well after that!!!
My wife finds it easy to use on her machine and her IE11.
I use Chrome...no problem there!

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 12/11/13 12:31 PM

Hi to All!

It is nice so many people come back to tell us that IT worked for them...

But we get no indication of what the particular "IT" is/was.

So please, can you include which of the three suggestions worked for YOU???

1. Uncheck Compatibility Views method

2. Install the Google Toolbar method

3. Never show instant results method

Use #1, 2, 3 if you like!

A lot of anxious visitors to this forum will be grateful to you :-)

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Vince Mains 12/11/13 7:44 PM
"Never show instant results" worked for me using IE 11. On the Google search page click the "Settings" link in the lower right hand corner.  Select "Never show instant results" radio button. Save and restart IE. For what's worth I had no problem with Firefox or Chrome. Problem seemed to start after I installed Norton Security Suite from Comcast.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Terrifla 12/12/13 3:04 PM
"A fix is in the works" and when would that be completed???  It seems that this does not have the priority that it should. I have always been a loyal Google user, but am getting to know Bing quite well because of this issue.

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Patricia Eddleman 12/13/13 9:31 AM
IT WORKED!!! I updated to IE11 and I upgraded Comcast Constant Guard on the same day. One or the other, or both got me. Kenneth J Ouellette's solution posted on Dec 2 is spot on.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 12/13/13 9:54 AM
Might as well add my input: The "Never show instant results" method worked for me.

BTW, since some mentioned CG effects: AFTER the Google Search problem was fixed, I UNINSTALLED the bothersome Constant Guard (Comcast version) Norton stayed as it was!
I discovered that one does not need the other to function.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Terrifla 12/13/13 3:13 PM
Thank you all -  I did the selection of "Never show instant results"...and it fixed my immediate issue.  Agree, Constant Guard needs to go! If only I could remember the passwords I stored there...
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Marcia Bollea 12/13/13 5:24 PM
It worked!  It worked!  It worked!  Finally.  Thanks to you all but especially GeorgeB66 who laid it out.  I used the "Never show instant results" method.  I had tried the "Uncheck Compatibility Views" method several times several ways and it didn't work.  Thanks again everybody.

Hi, I have read some of the other posts below and they are having the same problem I am having.
I am not sure about your comment.
The other postings below seam to say that Internet Explorer 11 is the problem.
Do you have a suggestion about a solution?

Rich

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? Dan Moritz 12/15/13 4:01 AM
The "Never Show Instant Results" method also worked for me.  Compatibility views did nothing for me.  I also had a recent update to IE11.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? mzkz7g 12/15/13 8:44 AM
Same problem but wanted to report additional behavior.  After a search justifies left if you select Images then back to Web again everything looks fine.
Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 12/15/13 9:07 AM
The problem appears when you use 'Google Search', and your browser is IE11, and you see the "text on left side problem".

Do what Kenneth J Ouellette (above) says:

Click on  "Settings" at bottom right of Google Search Page.
Next, click on "Search Settings".
Under "Google Instant Predictions" heading, choose "Never show instant results" radio button.

HIT THE SAVE BUTTON.
You are done!

Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for sharing these workarounds. Very clever!

The team is currently working on a fix for this issue so you'll no longer have to take these extra steps. I'll report back when it's complete.

Thanks for your patience and ingenuity.

Hurray, excellent suggestion Kenneth, you were absolutely correct to enter "settings" on the search page, "search settings", "never show instant results". Thanks so much for saving me a lot of frustration. I hope the rest of these folks follow suit. Thanks for shepherding us out of the darkness and into the light.

I think MS sucks. They never can make any products that work. IE is always slow and has issues. Same with their lousy OS. They keep upgrading it and it continues to suck each time.

I am using Chrome on my Mac.  Problem started when I was on maps and maps started changing size from going larger to smaller without my input.  Went out of maps when it was very small view and google has stayed in small view ever since.  Two to three words per line with lines overlapping and not readable.

I have rebooted, tried resetting to default settings nothing has worked

Very frustrated

Re: Display page is left justified. Hw do I chnage t to the center? GeorgeB66 3/8/14 9:28 AM
Very disturbing, Farrell. I thought since the Google guy (Nealeigh) came in with promises THREE MONTHS ago, the problem was solved by now...

Newleigh, any news from your group???

In the meantime Farrell, plz read all the great suggestions on this page and try them - if you hadn't already.
It appears that the "in Search Settings, select Never show Instant results" method is the one that worked for most of us.
So try it, you'll like it :-).
