search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 neilbdm 10/18/13 7:31 AM
in Google search, i want 100 results per page, not 10. again & again Google switches me back to this - it's getting really annoying.
i always go back & reset the settings, but it's hard to make it stick. this time i can't get it to stick at all. i have tried the suggestions in other posts, including clearing the cache & cookies.
i agree with all the comments about Google changing things for the worse. i also would like a 'verbatim' search, but that's another question...

hi,
the cookies must be stored in the browser.
otherwise Google forgets these things.
it works here.

Same problem here. I have Instant turned off and my settings are for 100 results per page. But I only get 10. I get 100 in other browsers - it's just Chrome that does this.

Google is only giving me another reason to abandon this browser again.

hi,
i can't replicate this.
Google instant must be off, results per age 100, cookies must be allowed and stored.
works fine in my chrome.

Hi, ta for prompt replies. I’ve checked Google settings: Google instant must be off, results per page 100, cookies must be allowed: all YES; and stored. – I can’t see where ‘store’ is.
Choices saved – YES [though I didn’t get the ‘SAVE’ button for a while]. All done while signed in; signed out & back in, refreshed search – no change, still only 10 results.

My experience exactly.  Cookies allowed, cache cleared, instant off, signed in to google, 50 or 100 / page selected and I only get 10.  I have always had problems with this occasionally resetting, but today I CANNOT make it give me more than 10/page.  Very annoying.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 Seitenmeister 10/20/13 12:07 PM
hi
with "store" i meant that your browser must keep these cookies.
no further idea here. something is wrong, probably anywheren in your settings.
OS or browser ....

hi,
I checked Chrome settings../Adv/../’all cookies & site data’, & there are loads of cookies with ‘google’ in the name there, well over 30.
I also noticed that in ‘Shopping’ or Images, I have plenty of results; this problem seems to be confined to ‘Web’ & ‘Video’.
I had a problem recently with ‘SearchGol’ taking over my search page, [persistent & hard to get rid of – foolishly gave too many permissions while installing Quick Time Player – beware!], & this problem’s been permanent since then; but I can’t see how there could be a conn’n..
I appreciate all the other replies, keep them coming, maybe somebody’ll figure it out.
Thanks again Seitenmeister

Started happening for me about a week ago. No system changes on my behalf to prompt any change. Now showing only 10 results per page, even though I have it set to 100. All other settings as they should be. Again - I have made no change to prompt this.

I have a feeling this may be a Google bug.

Hi websearch users

When you save search settings please make sure that you're signed in. After you've chosen the settings that you want, it's also important to scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the blue 'Save' button.

I would like you all to please see the attached article

I hope it helps

Hi, thanks but all these points already covered above, plus I read the article & tried the sugg’ns. I imagine other posters will say the same.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 Evan O'Donoghue 10/21/13 11:37 AM
Just as neilbdm has stated - I have done these things. Results still do not reflect settings.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 O'Dogs 10/22/13 12:54 PM
I might be onto a potential workaround. Can someone else try this...

The only way I can get Google to reflect my true search settings is using the Google homepage search. If I use the Chrome search panel, my settings are ignored.

Could all users please confirm which browser you're using.

I can reproduce this behaviour in Chrome and Internet Explorer, but not in Firefox or Safari.

The issue has been flagged for Google's attention. Please monitor this discussion for updates or further comment.

Same exact thing here. Chrome Version 30.0.1599.101 m

If I search from URL bar or +page (default google) in Chrome, 10 results per page only (although I am set for 100 results/page and open selected result in new window). And yes, Google genii, I *am* signed in and *have* clicked on Save.

The only relief from this is searching via the google.com homepage- anything else results in 10/page.

Absolutely maddening.

Thanks O'Dogs! This worked for me, from the search box [but not from the address line]. Also now seems to work from the search box on any Google search page.
I also set my home page back to Google from SearchGol [see https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/95314?hl=en]. This worked, even though I don’t get a ‘Save’ button ATM, as I mentioned before.

i'm using Chrome

I am using chrome "Version 30.0.1599.101 m" (and it says Chrome is up to date) and I get the same behavior:

- In "Search Settings", "Results per Page" is set to 100, and "Never show instant results" is selected.  I hit "save" before leaving the page.

- When searching from URL bar or from Google+ home page, it gives me instant results and only ten results/page.

- When searching from google.com, I get 100 results.

I also deleted all my browsing history but the same behavior persisted.

It's looking like this is not a Google Search issue at all, but a bug in the Chrome New Tab Page search functionality.
See and follow the bug report at https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=308373
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 cv63ox 10/22/13 9:22 PM
To expound on bluequoll's post, the link mentioned contains the following key info:

"This issue is being discussed on:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/chrome/HYARhCExf4k/4e0F9IQdVQUJ

Users note that disabling Instant Extended API will give you the desired SRP results when searching through the Omnibox."

Further research yielded the steps necessary to disable 'Instant Extended API' as:

go to chrome://flags/ and **disable** "Enable Instant Extended API"

This appears to have solved the problem for me. YMMV

I'm using Google.com; I'm NOT using the OmniBox that either forces you to deal with an autocomplete that makes it impossible to get where you want -OR- it forces you to turn off the prediction service *completely* which makes you lose a lot of functionality.  If the OmniBox was actually as good as typing in Google.com, I'd use it more often.  As it stands, I rarely use the OmniBox.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 Kizzume 10/25/13 1:52 AM
Ok, well, it seems to be working now on the google.com page, ANNNNNND the OmniBar isn't doing the autocomplete garbage anymore, but the OmniBar results still only show 10 results, but still, at least it's not doing that autocomplete crap anymore....

I think I have ended up on a Windows thread again. The same thing is happening on my Mac but I can't find a thread for that. In the past the solution for this was to disable Google Instant. Under this latest version I can't find that. Can anyone here give me that info, or point me to a relevant group. Thanks.

gra-cee:
If you're using Google Chrome, you're in the right place.
Just read through this discussion.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 gra-cee 10/26/13 5:09 PM
I'm afraid I didn't know how to translate "go to chrome://flags/ and **disable** "Enable Instant Extended API"" in the original discussion, and I still don't understand it in this one. I need a pointer to where this info exists on my Mac.
Re: search settings i want 100 results per page, not 10 bluequoll 10/26/13 7:10 PM
• Open your Chrome browser
• In the Chrome address bar, type chrome://flags/ and press <Enter>
• Scroll down the list or search the page to find "Enable Instant Extended API"
• Click the box labelled "Enabled"
• In the drop down menu, click "Disabled"
• At the bottom of the window, click "Relaunch Now"

This will remove the Google search box from the New Tab page and restore your chosen Search Settings in searches from the Chrome address bar.

Well, that is an interesting page - and it worked. Thank you.

Hi all,
Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back to this. Thanks for the help, esp O'Dogs, bluequoll, cv63ox, & gra-cee [for getting bluequoll to spell out a workaround for non-geeks like us!]. Personally, I’m sticking with O'Dogs’ workaround, as I can’t see any advantage in the other. For a ‘best answer’, I’d pick the above 4 in combination – 4 heads are better than one! 
