Dear Sir/Madame,

I don't want to annoy google but I was wondering why the google search results have deteriorated so much in the last 2 years? Today, I did a search on google.com for "Translation services in Spain" with only one of the top five results yielding a translation service in Spain while the others were translation services in the US or UK. The same goes for "translation service in Germany" or "translation service in France".

Surely, this is easy to fix,

Thanks for the reply Shannon but I want I don’t want a personalized search, I would prefer to make up my own mind with a neutral search!
That’s why I am doing the google searches when I am not logged into my google account, I am also using Firefox!
I have asked friends to do the same searches from the UK and Ireland and regardless of whether they are logged into their google accounts or not they get the same results more or less??
It’s a shame but the same searches on google.com (translation services in Brazil) also yields big companies from the US and the UK!
Surely there is no place for American and English Companies in a Search of this type.

It’s weird that this problem exists for the majority of large commercial markets like Brazil, France, Spain and Germany????

It also happens that the same large translation services show for each market!

Shouldn’t this be addressed??

For searches with a geographic limitation I find maps.google.com to be a much more useful interface.

So is your question, "how can I rank better for the query Translation Services in Spain?" or "how do if use Google search to find Translation Service in Spain?

If the former, you may be better off asking in the Google Webmaster forums, http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/webmasters, as they deal with SEO questions there.

If the later, then I feel my answer is pertinent and useful.

Thanks for the reply, the question is pretty simple, if you type into google.com, a search for translation services in Spain, "Translation Services Spain", the majority of the results do not yield translation services in Spain.

I also agree that personalize searches are a limitation, not a real help. Google screwed up with that. Also by making them location-dependant, it totally messed up an objective search.

Anyways, what I have done to band-aid the issue, is that i do my search in a browser where I'm not logged into google, other wise the searches come up idiotic, because the algorithm tries to look for what i already want , as opposed to show me things that i have not might seen before and i might like.

In other words, an algorithm cannot make the decision for me, when I'm just asking it to do a search. Google was much better on that regard a few years ago.

I think it's all come down to a new school of thought among IT professionals, who got crazy believing that they can figure out what we want before we want it.
That's a stupid concept, if you ask me.

Anyways, yahoo does the same thing, and that is even, before Marissa Meyer, and I think Microsoft is hanging around the same concept, but I'm not sure because I use their services to a minimum.
