| Google showing results based on IP location instead of user preference | guyyst | 14/11/17 09:20 | I've selected English as my preferred language for pretty much any setting I can change. "Which language should Google products use?" is set to English "Currently showing search results in:" is set to English Google Chrome's user interface language is set to English My Windows 10 installation is in English Yet when I google, for example "c# content control", these are the results I get with and without a VPN disguising my IP address: As you can see, the second result without a VPN is basically the German version of the first result. I don't care for the German version of that. I don't care for the German version of any results, yet I need to use a VPN, just to keep irrelevant search results out of my life? Why does Google even offer a setting called "Currently showing search results in", when it's apparently just a button you click for fun, without actually affecting the results of your search. This also happens on my phone and really any other device. |
