Googles weird crawling of a page content, is this a bug ? MM68 5/6/12 3:35 AM
I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues: Yes

My site's URL (web address) is: www.metro-mart.co.uk

Hello,

I'm new to websites and this is my first website business.

I'm trying to gauge why some of my pages are not being indexed well and I've found what I think looks like a bug in the crawling engine.

I have the following web page:

When I look at the entry on google search listings it shows:
Snooker Table, Full Size, made in Oak by Hixon & Sons Leeds For Sale at ... the Market Place for Classified and Property advertising. ... Metro Mart 2012.
"the market place for classified and property advertising" is from the page header and is repeated on every page.
"Metro Mart 2012" is a copyright from the bottom of every page.

I know Google is supposed to find content on a page which is better than the content within my Page Meta Description,,, but this plainly is not the case.

Is there any way I can turn off this feature and bring Google back in line with the text which is more relevant ?

Cheers,
MM68

I think I've solved the problem for now,,,

Because I was searching for my webpage - it didnt exist in the rankings as far as I can tell - I put in search criteria from my website name.

I guess Google inserted relevant criteria within the webpage into the description.

I'll monitor it for now and come back if there's a problem.

Hi

Also note that the way your page "presents" is not ideal from a search engine perspective.

For example:

--- the
tag should be used to mark the main heading of that specific page;

--- the main heading of that page ("Full Size Oak Snooker Table by Hixon & Sons Leeds") is enclosed in
( 3rd level of importance).

--- inside your
it has the site name and year.

Metro Mart

I hope it helps!

Hello Robbo,

Thanks very much for the reply.

I've been very busy both with the website and in farming.

I've unfortunately missed this message until now.

I think you have again a very valid point - H1 is classified of high importance.

I'll see what I can do to make the page conform a bit more.

Thanks again for the idea,
