Structured Data Dropped From <2600 items to 80 in 3 days?? Craig Cole 5/12/13 4:33 PM
I've read the FAQs and searched the help center.

Hi all,

I'm still learning my way around webmaster tools but I noticed my structured data dropped from over 2600 items to 80 in the space of a couple of days. (March 29th - April 2nd).

Around the same time my site went from ranking first page for most FIFA related keywords I went after to ranking way down even below a few scrapers. Do you think it could be related?

I did find a large number of football team audio posts that had a lot of duplicate content but with different audio per team so I'm wondering if I might have been hit by some algorithm. These posts where from 2010 when I first started the site and I've just 301 redirected them all to a single summary post just in case.

If anyone might be able to help I'd extremely appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi,

I'm not sure of details but there have been a few issues with Structured Data recently which have been rectified but it may take a little while to get back to normal.

Of course,  it may be unconnected but I shouldn't worry about it. Check again in a few days.

Hi , Did this ever get resolved? I'm experiencing a similar issue on my blog as of 6/7/2013. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Hello!

I have experienced the same drop in structured data count in WMT on exactly 6/7/13 also.  I lost URL's in the Microformat and Local Business Data Types. My website traffic also dropped on that date.

The odd thing is that I can still verify these dropped URL's  with the Structured Data Testing Tool. When I input a URL which I know has dropped from the Structured Data count list in WMT, it *does* verify.

Do I trust the Structured Data Tool verification, or do I look at the Structured Data Count chart which shows a huge drop off as what is coming down the pipe?  I'm just so pandalized, I am getting paranoid. Here are my details posted in another thread: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/webmasters/structured$20data/webmasters/TnbQdePTQk8/KIAvwxK4qAUJ

What to do? Thanks for any comments or suggestions!

BTW--the Microformat URL's which were lost are all hcard for authorship for blog posts.

Hi Leeza,  I'm still not sure what the score is with this unfortunately.  My site lost a lot of traffic around the same time and some new pages weren't getting listed. ( they appear to be now).  I'm not sure if it's related our just a coincidence or if it actually affects anything.

Are you using the All-In-One SEO plugin by any chance? I noticed that this coincided with an update I did for that but don't know off it's related.

hi there,

I am using the All-in-One SEO, but I have not done any upgrades or changes to coincide even close to the date we were affected. So, maybe we take this parameter out of our 'What's Wrong Algo".  Let's call it the WWA. ;-)

By any chance did you experiment with The Structured Markup Tool in May? That is the only correlation that I can make for my WWA.

And just to be clear, here are the things that happened:

1) my Structured Data Count in WMT is down-- predominantly rich snippets for authorship for our 6 year old blog with the most ORIGINAL plastic surgery content out there .
2) Structured Data Testing Tool still confirms the URL's that have dropped out of the count in #1 above as verified structured data.
3) I still see the authorship pics in the SERPS
4) Despite #3 being a good sign, I am still afraid that this dropped URL count is a preview of what is coming down the next Panda iteration.

Just sayin.
