Reconsideration request for http://mportlandrealestate.com/: Site violates Google's quality guidelines JBern 5/17/12 10:42 AM
I have read the FAQs and checked for similar issues:

My site's URL (web address) is: http://mportlandrealestate.com/

So about a month ago I started noticing some fluctuations in our site rankings... Upon some inspection of our back link profile I find that someone has built several hundred of links from several different domains that are basically iframes of our whole site, but on a warez/illegal download domain of some sort.  Here's an example: http://www.downloadwarez.org/download-Real-estate-portland-indiana-full-crack-serial-keygen-rapidhare-by-PortlandHomesforSale-5701793.html

We ended up blocking the ability for other sites to iframe our site, thinking that would help, and things seemed fine after about a week.

Then Penguin hit.

Our site that used to rank for most of the main terms in regards to the "Portland Real Estate" market was slapped with some sort of penalty as it lost rankings for ALL the main terms.  It still ranks for longtail stuff...  but we lost a pretty large chunk of traffic and visitor registrations due to this.

So, I submitted a reconsideration request, with examples to these bad links, stating that they were not something that anyone on our team was responsible for (and we found a couple other sites that were apparently part of this "attack" with similar style links and thousands of porn related links too!) I included a link to that site as well (http://lakeoswegorealestatesearch.com) in my reconsideration request.

This is the response I get today:

Dear site owner or webmaster of http://mportlandrealestate.com/,
We received a request from a site owner to reconsider http://mportlandrealestate.com/ for compliance with Google's Webmaster Guidelines.
We've reviewed your site and we still see links to your site that violate our quality guidelines.
Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes.
We encourage you to make changes to comply with our quality guidelines. Once you've made these changes, please submit your site for reconsideration in Google's search results.
If you find unnatural links to your site that you are unable to control or remove, please provide the details in your reconsideration request.
If you have additional questions about how to resolve this issue, please see our Webmaster Help Forum for support.
Sincerely,
Google Search Quality Team

I mean, I know the Googler's are probably inundated with these requests right now, but really?  They basically told me to do what I originally did and provided no help whatsoever.

So, my question is...  is it worth my time to try another reconsideration request? Or am I just going to keep getting these lame ass responses?

Any helpful insight would be greatly appreciated!
-J

Did you ever get an answer to this? I have a very similar problem.

Cheers

I have a similar problem with my websites that were on the first page for terms "camere de supraveghere" . Of course the competition can create all those porn links to pull us down.
The websites that were on the first page are www.cameredesupraveghere.eu and www.cameredesupraveghere.net .
It is just absurd that we get penalties for something that anyone can do it ...

Good timing! I hope the Googlers who manually deal with these things aren't all in the US... we've been notified that the US offices of Google are going to be mostly vacant for the next week... Most of the duties we usually see being done in the US have been offloaded to folks in the EU and it's not like those folks aren't busy enough already with their own responsibilities. Going to be an interesting time...

It is a knee-jerk reaction to kick webspam in front of Google and say "LOOK AT OUR WEBSPAM"!

PENGUIN is automatic... you didn't need to submit a reconsideration request. But now because you did you have a manual review.

Because Googlers (Google staff members) are not googlebot their individual thought process is often different than that of their robot friend.

With PENGUIN you can review you major swaths of phrases in Analytics and appreciate which anchored links should go.

That changes with a manual review... now anything that looks articial has to go.

I would start with your pay to post article networks.

Get rid of them and then comb your link profile for other versions of webspam.

You have recieved Googles standard RECONSIDERATION REQUEST FORM.

What a CROCK!

Us as well. (Twice).  Even after removing all suspicious links

"MY WHAT AN EXCELLENT TROLL YOU POSTED!"

Any chance of you might enlighten the OP how to fix that?
