|GV number assigned to two people?||asocasno||7/1/12 3:53 PM|
Since late last year a few people, particularly my mother, have been claiming they are unable to reach me by my google voice number. Initially, I didn't believe them since I could call myself via my google voice number and was getting calls from it. I was recently told by a friend that when they tried to call me someone else picked up and claimed to have the same google voice number since late last year. I shrugged it off a bit until I tried calling myself with a friend's phone earlier today and it never rang my phone, it went to someone I've never heard of.
I've checked my forwarding settings (back last year it was, in fact, forwarding to a dead number that I neglected). I have searched on the forums and entered in my phone number on one of the links, I did, get an email confirming my account.
So, aside from the confusion that resulted from the fact that some of my calls do seem to come through, I don't know what to do so that I get all my calls.

I can't seem to call my own account anymore either now. Is there any way to get some support for a problem?

If I call my GV number from GV (connecting to my home), it works fine. If I call my GV number from my home line, I get someone else!

Do you have a Google Number or Google Lite? https://support.google.com/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1210136
If Lite, your callers must call your 10-digit MOBILE number even for a local call, not your Google Access number http://support.google.com/voice/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=164651
If Google Number, your callers must call your 10-digit Google Number even for a local call .
What happens if your mother calls your 10-digit MOBILE number?
If you get a Google number that is NOT local to your personal numbers your local callers may incur a long distance charge to reach you by dialing 1+10-digit GV number. Confirm number is local to yours, even in the same area code at http://www.localcallingguide.com/lca_rcdist.php

I have a google number.
I always tell people to use my 10-digit number anyway (and have tried with 1+10-digit).
Calling my 10-digit mobile number was the only way my mother could reach me.
I don't actually know anyone in the same area code as my google voice number. I'm not concerned about people calling me and incurring long distance charges, I'm concerned about the fact that all calls are getting routing elsewhere.
