|Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||shaunhelp||6/19/12 8:43 AM|
Hi, I was trying to port my number from Verizon to GV on 6/16 and it failed because I put my Voicemail PIN rather than my account PIN. (My mistake) Well now I am unable to reprocess my request even though the error message I received reads as below:
"Your request to port 631-338-**** has encountered an error.
Please login to Google Voice to update your information and resubmit your request.
Well not only was I charged $20 for the failed port, I now get this error msg when trying to reprocess:
Porting your mobile number to Google Voice is unavailable
Your mobile number can not be ported at this time.
To Google Employees:
It genuinely troubles me that I am stuck here and have no customer service to help me. This is a timely manner because I wish to port this before my billing cycle. Furthermore, it's pretty ridiculous how this whole customer service forum works.. people shouldnt have to do the WORK to find answers about using YOUR service. Seriously, there are 10000 threads/posts on issues like this. It is not my full time job to find an answer. I paid the $20 I expect the service that comes along with this.
Please look into that matter for me. Thank you

24 hours later, no resolution- not even a response. Here I am sitting completely in the dark. Thanks Google!!

shaunhelp, have you made any progress with your number port? I am having a very similar issues. I also input the wrong PIN number and had an error, however I was able to resubmit with the proper PIN number. But now 3 days later, that port process still says that same thing that it did prior to the error message. My wireless phone still rings/calls with the number that I am trying to port. I have no idea what is going on....
Your request to port (262) 635-xxxx to Google Voice is in process.

Nothing to update on. Porting my number is still unavailable. No response from Google, No refund, No hope.
Does Google offer tech help if you physically go to their offices?

Stuck in the same situations like yours chrischris. Not sure what to do or who to call....
If this is how customer service IS from a company like Google - how in the world they expect to compete with likes of Apples and succeed?..... frustrating.... (Granted there is a lot of people here who had smooth experiences.... but the customer service is all of the minority few like us who didn't get things to work the way it was supposed to work.... right?)

Good luck dude. I've been waiting for my GV number to get ported to Virgin Mobile for 12 days. Still can't send/ rec text messages. Google doesn't support GV or help the folks whose information they're gleaning. Very frustrating.

Still no response. I was able to find out the voip provider for GV, inetwork. They were very responsive (on the phone) but did not have any answers for me. They also could not provide a contact number for GV porting.
I attempted to call the NYC office at 212-565-0000 and actually response a gatekeeper! (exited that this is my first human interaction with google) I was told that I needed to know the name of the person I was trying to contact. When I started to explain my issue I was referred to these forums. I had told her that this is an ongoing issue and that I have yet to receive 1. MY REFUND 2. an answer. I was told once again that I needed to know the name of the person, so I then asked to be connected to a 'rep from the voice dept" and was told that they only offer online support because they are an online company. Why is being an online company an excuse to neglect customer service?
I then began to explain my problem in further detail and was subsequently hung up on by the very unfriendly gatekeeper. Nobody picks up when I call now.
Google, get it together... this is not OK and you're lucky that there aren't more people complaining.
I WILL be contacting the BBB as well as local authorities if I do not so much as see my refund soon.

I feel let down.. this is not I expected from a company like GOOGLE.... sad.... :(

Have you looked here:
There is also an ongoing thread with a Google employee responding, so I suggest you check it out, as well:
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||steelclouds||7/6/12 9:20 PM|
Yes. I am leaving no stones unturned... but I find is strange that there isn't even interactive chat support.... The forum seems to be only resort. I feel it is like "write a post" and "pray hard" hoping that a friendly google employee takes notice of yours (first) and the actually could help me with my problem.....
I am waiting.... for someone to answer my prayers...

This post is the epitome of my point... I am trying to port my # in, NOT OUT. This is why support forums are terrible, it's impossible to read every post and then you get nice people trying to help out but in reality just confuse the whole thing that much more.
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||mudwoman||7/8/12 10:34 AM|
I'm afraid you're stuck with us, steelclouds. I need to correct myself, too. I gave you references for port OUT of GV. Here's the help page on porting IN TO GV:
You've probably found that on your own by now, but in case anyone else looks at this thread, I wanted to post the correct info.
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||mudwoman||7/8/12 11:05 AM|
After I realized my error (and posted just a few minutes before you did), I searched for a recent port IN thread with a Google employee responding. I found none, but I see you posted at the other one. It's still a good idea to check that thread, because if the G employee is still monitoring it, you still might get some action. Sorry for your troubles. I hope you get it straightened out.

Interestingly Google Wallet has cancelled my porting order "auto-magically". It indicates that the order was cancelled on "user request". I never requested to cancel the order nor the porting.....
Anyway, I am trying to port one more time. Let's see what happens this time around...

Google? what gives?
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||SRamRoyy||7/20/12 4:48 AM|
I am in the same situation. Looks like there are quite a few people with this issue. If Google cannot port the number, at least they should release it. Now as the porting is in progress, we can not do anything with the phone number.
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||steelclouds||7/20/12 6:45 AM|
Good news for folks like me. After the 1st attempt to port was stuck "in progress" for over 18 days (and after numerous postings later) Google wallet canceled my porting process and refunded my money without any action on my part.
I still didn't lose ny faith in Google yet. So, initiated a porting process again for the same number. This time the porting completed under 24 hours. The text messages took another 2 days before it was fully functional.
Life back as it was known again. :)
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||mudwoman||7/20/12 8:15 AM|
So glad to hear this, steelclouds! Hopefully it's an indication that Google is going through and looking for folks stuck in the process.
Any of the rest of you - if your situation changes, let us all know.
|Re: Porting a Number to GV - feeling helpless||SRamRoyy||7/20/12 2:33 PM|
After 15 days of waiting and numerous emails, inquiries and postings, Google finally UnStuck my porting request.They have not refunded my money yet. I think they will, eventually. Meanwhile I am trying the porting one more time. No error message so far... keeping my fingers crossed.

I apologize for the delay getting to your thread. I see that 0736 was successfully ported and you were issued a refund.
