1 number per GV account.

You can change your number once every 90 days for $10, and your previous number will remain active with your new number for a short time in effect giving you 2 numbers. But it is only temporary.

Presumably one could have more than one account each with a separate GV number?   For instance business & other.  I have 2 email addresses registered with gmail.  Could each of these have a separate GV account?

Perhaps the person is asking if this violates the TOS. I'm not sure but am curious to find out. I've heard of folks using one GV number for personal and another for business (associated with separate Google Accounts, of course) and presume this is legit. Is it?

One GV number per account, one account per gmail account.  I am not sure that GV would be happy to know that you have more than one GV account, but I do know others who are doing this.  You will need a separate invite for each account.

From what I know so far, you can have more than one GV number, one per gmail account.  However, you cannot have both GV numbers route to the same phone.  Example: 2 GV route to the same cell phone number.   Wish it could be done though.  This way one GV can be used for personal calls and another can be used for business calls without having to give out your actual cell phone number.

I'd like to know more about this.  Does it violate the TOS to have more than one Google Account/Google Voice Account?  One for biz and one for personal.  One GV Number with a local area code and another GV Number in a distant area code?

As far as I've seen, there is no penalty for people having more than one Google + GV account.

Is this true?... that you can't have two google voice numbers route to the same phone number...

A cell phone can be on two-GV accounts if it is not listed as a 'mobile' device.  (call it a home or work number).  You lose the ability to get SMS via GV, but otherwise you have access to all GV features.

A landline can be on two GV accounts.

Having two accounts is a moral issue for me.  Am I trying to cheat the system or am I simply using it as it was intended to be used?

Yes you can have multiple Google Voice numbers. However, you can only have 1 free Google Voice number per invite, per email address (gmail, yahoo, aol, aim, personal domain, etc..) used to sign up with Google Voice.

Although I completely understand the limitation to stop misuse; I believe allowing calls to forward from only 2 google voice accounts is limiting. A great use of google voice is for business developers - companies they work for (often more than 2), may like them to be able to receive calls directly to their phone. I think a better solution to simply enforcing a forwarding max would be to ensure that the number is not the only single number on the account - ensure it is ringing another number in addition - perhaps enforce a unique constraint (limiti 2) on accounts ringing the same set of numbers.

If you have a magic jack number  just forward one google voice number to your cell phone. Then have the other google voice number forwarded to your magic jack number, and just forward your magic jack phone calls to your cell phone. This is of course if you have a magic jack... which I do. I haven't tested this out because I don't have two GV numbers. But it should work.

I have 4 businesses all with different gmail accounts and I was excited to attach a GV Number to each one. That way I could give out different GV numbers to different people for each different business and have all 4 numbers forwarded to my private number; all 4 with it's own separate out-going business message. I was excited to make contacts, have them sorted to my private phone incoming from different business voicemails, with each contact leaving messages pertaining to the right business. Now I find out you can have several gmaiI accounts each with it's own GV number, but only one can be forwarded to my private number. I have been excited and telling people how cool google voice was, turns out "Google Voice" isn't so cool after all. The most obvious reason to have google voice doesn't exist........

I have a business in utah and another in washington I would like to have the option of dialing out with 2 different area codes so that it looks like a local area code in those states is that possible (360) and (801) giving me an option to which # to use
Re: Can you have more than one google voice number? Box7184 6/29/10 7:18 PM
@mikek9117

You would need to set up two different Google Voice accounts on two different Google accounts.

One of the limits of GV is that a mobile phone can only be verified on one GV account.  You can call your number a "work" or "home" number, and then it could be on two different GV accounts.

Unfortunately, texts sent to a GV number cannot be delivered to a "work" or "home" number.  You'd have to get them on the website.

Assuming your cell phone is already registered in one of the 2 area codes. If you have an Android phone you can install GV and register the phone # in the other area code. With GV installed on your Android cell you have the option of selecting every time you call if you want to call using WITH or WITHOUT using GV.

In other words on outbound calls you can select what area code your call will originate from, and you can retain the benefits of receiving text msg to both phone # coming to the same cell.

For those looking to get multiple numbers that forward to the same single One phone... there is a solution available.  Contact your phone company.

What you are looking to do is the reverse of what GV is about.  Google Voice gives you one number to forward to many contact numbers so you only need to give the one number and it finds you.

GV is not supposed to be a replacement for phone service, especially for business.

If you do have 2 GV numbers, can you have one forward to your personal number then use the other to forward your personal number's voicemail to.  ie.  I use my GV number as my business phone.  Could I then use another GV number as my Iphone's voicemail?
Re: Can you have more than one google voice number? Brian Shea - SevenSages 12/6/10 12:09 PM
@DocSerrada
If your business GV number is not connected/forwarded to your iphone, then yes, use another GV and have that setup on the iphone.

I'm using one GV for my personal use, which uses my mobile.
And for business, I have to rely on just allowing those calls to go to a separate GV for voicemail. I then get to read my voicemail.
