how do I export dxf files in which circles are not broken into little lines, but are circles. for cnc machines markodd 9/5/11 2:48 AM
SketchUp version: Pro version7.1.6859
Operating system:MAC OSX ver10.6.8
Explain your issue in full detail here:
Sketchup draws circles as line segments around a central point. I am exporting my files as dxf for use by CNC machines for route cutting or laser cutting. The circles need to be circles not line segments. Increasing the number of segments is not a solution (the machine goes crazy with these tiny little lines). Is it possible for sketchup to render a circle as a center point plot and a radius?

Sorry markodd, there are no true curved entities in SketchUp, only straight Edges and flat Faces.

If you export a 3D model instead of a 2D image, circles and arcs will export as true AutoCad circle and arc entities.

Thanks for pointing this out, Anssi. If I export my Circles and Curves via the »Export 3D« not the »Export 2D« it will result in Connected Linex (Bezier Lines) in the DXF file! Perfect!
