I can't get styles to apply to the components I've imported. Is there any way to do it? Thanks!

Styles should work on model level so I cannot imagine a case when a certain style is active in the model while other elements (components) show a different style.

In fact, many users would really love such a feature but unfortunately it doesn't work.

Could you show us an example? (Upload the file to the 3D Warehouse and paste the link here)

I'm having this exact same problem  Stranger still, in one file Styles works as it's supposed to do, but in a copy of that file, Styles does not appear to function.  More precisely, components retain their colored faces.  In fact, I've compared all the settings between the two files and they are identical.  I also tried downloading anew the components from 3D warehouse, but to no avail.  Compare the two files.
Works fine here: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=398ab808f24ad7ca941bffb14648f2ae&result=4
Here not: http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=ca466b9c543d3a3e941bffb14648f2ae&result=4
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I've further established that what triggers this problem is cutting and pasting a Component from one file into another.  When I do that the Style no longer works with respect to ANY Components in the file into which I've pasted.

You only uploaded the kmz files. In kmz, the 3D file format is a collada file which does not retain styles.
