|Google Groups URL is wrong!||Leeson||8/17/12 1:36 PM|
First, I can't find a forum for Google Groups, which is very odd, because isn't this forum supposed to be itself a Google Group?
Never mind, this is the next best place, so here I am.
The question is this. I have just set up a Google Group, and I need the URL of the group.
On the setup page for the group, I am told that the URL for the Group is this:
Sadly this URL doesn't work. The real URL for the Group is this, discovered from a simple Google search.
Why am I being misled in this way?

In what way does the first URL not work? e.g., this one works for me:
Can you give the specific URL and the browser/OS on which you're seeing the issue?

Hello Rich Feit, thank you for your reply.
I think I probably didn't make myself clear, I was looking for the URL of the Group that you use to embed the Group in a web page. My apologies for this. Clearly, the regular URL is the right one for seeing the Group in a plain web browser, but the one I quoted is necessary to embed it. The instructions in the Group set up do not make this very clear at all.

goto https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!groupsettings/GROUPNAME HERE/information . The HTML to embed the group is on that page

Agreed; the https://groups.google.com/forum/?fromgroups#!forum/mygroupname form is really equivalent to https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mygroupname and is separate from the embedding URL.

My question is about your first point: where is the Google Group/Productforum message board for Google Groups?

Unfortunately there isn't one. :(

Seems funny and kind of odd to me.
There are some outdated ones here that are old and/or full of spam:

And the lack of a Groups forum is really strange. Reminds me of old anecdotes about the index of a library being missing from itself, after all, the index is a publication in its own right and should be included...or the Guinness Book of Records holding the record for the book containing the most records, and not including that record within itself.

Do you have a google group on your google site?
