Postfix - Route Local Mail to Postini axelseaa 1/31/12 6:23 AM
I am using postfix for my mta - i was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to route all local mail through postini instead of just delivering it to the local mailbox?  I have tried a few things in the past but nothing has ever been successful.  Thanks!

Which version of Postini are you using? You will need Message Security, using Postini outbound relay. See the Outbound Configuration Guide, for further details on how to set up Postfix.

Let me rephrase the question - i already have outbound configuration setup and working with message security.  However, this only works for emails that are sent from my local system to an external address.  What I'm trying to figure out is how to route all local emails (emails sent between addresses hosted on my server) through the postini outbound configuration to get filtering.  Any suggestions on that?

Would you not create a transport rule? I am not 100%, as I had this in some notes for Postfix.

Edit /etc/postfix/main.cf
outbounds[system #].obsmtp.com

Add the following to /etc/postfix/transport
yourdomain.com smtp:outbounds[system #].obsmtp.com:port#

Then create a postmap file; postmap hash:/etc/postfix/transport

Edit the /etc/postfix/main.cf
transport_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/transport

Restart Postfix.

I have seen that way, i was hoping there was a way to do it that we not per domain - i have roughly 30+ domains and will only be adding more

and actually, since i have one system setup for virtual accounts that sends and receives the mail, if I use the transport option it creates an infinite loop and just keeps passing the email between postfix and postini

Can you not create a transport rule for each domain? You may try reaching out to some of the Postfix forums, for a solution. Just curious, why is it important for intra-domain email to be processed by Postini?
