Question on rel="canonical", does it work for News as well as Search? DonHommes3 4/24/12 8:18 AM
We use the rel="canonical" tag for all of our news stories and I have a question about it.

One of our stories was wriiten and published on one site:
1.  http://www.patriotledger.com/topstories/x101303317/New-study-gives-Quincy-s-Manet-Center-healthy-grades
and
picked up on another:
2.  http://www.enterprisenews.com/answerbook/brockton/x101303317/New-study-gives-Quincy-s-Manet-Center-healthy-grades
which is fine.

The rel="canonical" tag is correct for both stories giving credit to #1.

When I do a Google Search, #1 comes up. - Great.
When I Google News Search, #2 comes up. - Not good.

Shouldnt the #1 story be shown in both Search and News using the rel="canonical" tag or is the tag for Search only?
