|Photos direc to Nexus 7||swagman11||7/26/12 5:01 PM|
So having read up on the (limited) tech specs for the Nexus 7 I went ahead and bought the 16gb one only to now find it doesnt support the OTG operations via the mini USB!! What's the Go with that Google? I need to be able to upload photos from my SD card / card reader via a USB direct to the Nexus 7, Im out travelling and dont have access to a PC so I bought the tablet for just that reason.
It would be so nice instead of just launching with pretty pictures if you guys actuallt spelt the technical details in detail and in advance.when launching a product.
I now appear top have the choice of throwing the Nexus away or having it rooted which I dont trust myself to do correctly.
If anyone has any other idea on how to get jpegs in to the tablet direct from a card reader please let me know.
Google - fail.

No SD card was also a big disappointment for me and no OTG to USB was an even bigger disappointment after seeing a demo of a Galaxy Nexus phone that was able to read from a USB thumb drive using a mini USB to USB converter so I assumed this would be a no-brainer for my Nexus 7 tablet but Google is obviously looking to make a buck from selling storage in the cloud. Still there are so many free cloud storage sites that offer 5GB or more for free that the cloud will work fine when you can get connected via w-fi. But there is always copying files from your desktop or laptop to your Nexus 7 device so it's not really a big deal; just a little less convenient. Other than that I absolutely love my Nexus 7 tablet; it's like having an android phone on steroids minus the phone (unless you Oovoo or Skype). It's just the right size and weight, lots of apps, screen resolution is good. It's fast, easy to use and in general lots of fun to use.
