I'm having the exact same issues...Would love any enlightenment on what Google is up to but it is rather frustrating at the moment - usually changes like these are saved for the realm of Facebook.

I have just found this link (which doesn't work, suggesting they're adjusting something, maybe?): http://support.google.com/talk/bin/topic.py?hl=en&topic=15059
I'm wondering if maybe it is something to do with regional availability of their new apps but I would have thought Canada would have full access to all apps. Can you confirm you're in Canada r.mehreen? Do you remember who assisted you in fixing this problem last time?

Thanks for that info. Any chance you/anyone else could explain in layman's terms what the last bit of the last sentence means? Other than converting to an Android, any other suggestions as to anything I could do that might allow me to use Google talk on my iPhone?

I have no idea what it means exactly, but there are numerous apps that work with google talk. I occasionally use IM+ which supports many messaging programs and has some nice features including notifications for when contacts come online. Another I used is ebuddy, but I'm sure there are many other apps that have come along with good features.

Great, thanks for that info PurepleMoneky55 :-)

Plain and simple, they just need to reinstate the chat feature...especially since it is used via safari at times instead of an "app".

Okay I checked the link sent by PurpleMonkey55 . It states about shutting down of mobile web app of google talk. My question is what is the authenticity of this blog?
Could someone from google officially please confirm the status of this application if it is true and the alternative course specifically?
As to owlcycling202 I was helped by Ry Guy in March 2011.
PurpleMonkey55 thanks for your suggestions but I like to use the mobile web app of google talk and not use a third party application.
I fail to understand why a google talk application page opens up with the message "launch now" if it is not available for iPhone. When I click on "launch now" it says "Not found Error 404" Why does it not say that it has been shut down for iPhone?
How could Google unilaterally decide to spring clean without thinking of its clients/customers who rely and trust its products?

I agree.. It seems a bit unusual that the option is still available, but only through specific avenues and devices. If they were "cleaning" and developing new options, wouldn't it be deleted across the board. My thought is that there is conflict (not electronically) between google and apple?...but on the other hand, why just the chat/talk feature and maintain all the other features.
Google, please provide some answers and fix this...so many of your clients rely on...

Just for information locinkram "iPhone" does not support Android. It has its own operating system called "iOS". Android is owned by "Google" and runs on mobile devices designed for it like Galaxy nexus. So you could understand the fix of iPhone users who are going to suffer due to this apparent business competition. I hope that with "business" Google remains mindful of "ethics" as well.
