|Google Now Navigation Detour||malcolmparsons||8/7/12 2:40 AM|
Last night, Google Now suggested 2 possible routes to get from work to home.
I tapped Navigate and the Navigation app told me to take the attached route home.
Google thinks I work in a field, and it tries to get me as close as possible to the field before going home.
The Navigation app gives me sensible directions from work to home when I launch it directly.
Can someone at Google fix this?

Not sure I understand...if Google Now guesses the wrong address of your work your can tap the "settings-dots" on the right hand of the card and choose edit.
Or is it the actual route that is wrong?

The Blue arrow is my current location in my work car park.
My work building is just south of the blue arrow.
Navigation wants me to exit the car park, turn left, turn left, turn left, go to the end of the road, near the field, turn around and then take my normal route home.
Google location history knows the correct street address of my work, but Google Maps thinks that this street address is in a field.
The route is wrong, but I think it's wrong because Google thinks my work is in a field.

Can you switch it from the Navigation app to the Google Maps app with the (incorrect) directions to your home? If so, then you can report the problem using these instructions. I don't believe there's a way to do it from the Navigation app, just from Google Maps.

I've attached a screenshot of my route to work this morning, after I'd arrived at work, showing the destination in a field.
Maybe I should drive there and press "Destination is not here".

I've checked my location history, and I have never been in this field.

I have the same thing. Only from home to work and I double checked my work address.
The inserted address is: Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), Evert v/d Beekstraat 202, 1118 CP Schiphol, The Netherlands
It shows directions to: Tweeduizend El
I get directions to a field instead of the airport. When I use Google Maps/Now on my Android it shows correct work address. When I check it on the web version it also shows the right address but when I use the route from Google Now it shows me the wrong destination.
I've decided to reset my work address to see if it might be fixed this way since I had the Work address entered before Google Now was released to the public.

If you type your business address into Google Maps, does it report the location of your work's building correctly? If not, here's an article in the Google Maps Help Center that will allow you to report the issue.
If you visit Google Maps from a desktop or laptop and click My places and then Work, does it report the location of your work's building correctly? If not, you can click the triangle to the right of Work and edit the location.
If you make either one of those changes they will be reflected in Google Maps -- the change in work address should be changed immediately, the map result for your building probably later.

Searching for "Linguamatics, 324 Cambridge Science Park, Milton Road, Cambridge, United Kingdom" reports the location of the building correctly.
Searching for "324 Cambridge Science Park, Milton Road, Cambridge, United Kingdom" reports the location of the building incorrectly, but isn't in the field.
Google location history actually thinks my work is at "KidsUnlimited Cambridge Science Park, 319, Cambridge Science Park, Milton Rd, Cambridge, CB4 0WG, UK". Searching for this reports the location of my work building, which is not number 319.
Searching for "319, Cambridge Science Park, Milton Rd, Cambridge, CB4 0WG, UK" also reports the location of my work building, which is not number 319.
If I click on my work location in Google location history, then it goes to http://maps.google.com/?ll=52.236244,email@example.com,0.1396894 which is in the field. This location is labelled "Science Park 319 Milton Rd, Cambridge, Milton, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB4 0WG, UK". It is also the location of the briefcase icon.
If I search for "Science Park 319 Milton Rd, Cambridge, Milton, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire CB4 0WG, UK",
Clicking on Work puts a red marker on my work's building, but the briefcase icon is still in the field.
I don't understand how this is possible.
Changing my work address from 319 to 324 has no effect, the briefcase icon and red marker do not move. Pressing edit again still shows 319.
I've used the Report a Problem button to report several issues.

OK if you've reported the issues they've been sent over to our side for evaluation; it can take a while before we make any corrections on our end.

I decided to reset my work place and let Google Now determine it. After 24 hours or so it found the correct location and is properly displaying it.
