|Constant error of "Your device isn't compatible with this item"||Zarazilla||1/18/12 7:28 AM|
Device: Samsung Galaxy S
Country / Language: United Kingdom
OS / Browser / build number (if applicable): Gingerbread.xxjvt
Hello, for the past few days I've been having trouble updating my apps. Market comes up telling me that I have 9 (10 today) updates and when I click "Update all" nothing happens. So I tried updating them separately, but for each app a little black bar comes up above the app and says "Your device isn't compatible with this item". This is for ALL apps even Google native apps like Google Maps and Google Search.
Possibly related (but I'm not sure how) my Google Talk has also stopped signing in, saying "Google Talk authentication failed". I'm not sure how it's related, but it's not a password/account thing (Gmail works fine).
I updated my OS last night thinking that might be it, but I still have the same problem. At the moment it is running Gingerbread.xxjvt but it was also running Gingerbread before (but an earlier build I guess).
Anybody have any ideas? I've looked this up and it seems to be mainly a problem with rooted phones, which my phone isn't. I'd really rather not have to factory reset as well!
EDIT: Just realised something else that's been going a bit funny. I said that Gmail works fine, but it isn't updating very often - new e-mail isn't coming to my phone so much (but it does arrive at some points). It's not a network problem - internet and twitter works fine.

I've got the same problem - Galaxy S on Orange in the UK, not rooted, firmware: PDA:JVC / Phone: JV3 / CSC: JV6 (ORA). Clearing Market data and the cache don't solve it. I am also getting the "Google Talk authentication has failed" message.
Email is working fine, but I use the K-9 mail app.
Very frustrating ...

Ah hah. I tried this last night and it worked!
Go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > choose "Google Services Framework" application
Click "Clear data"Once it is done, turn the phone off and then on again.

I was having the same issues... clearing data for Google Services Framework worked for me too. Thanks Zarazilla!

Kudos to you Zarazilla!!! It worked like a charm on my Thunderbolt w/ BAMF Forever 1.11.
What a shame, Google is steadily going the way of MS, Apple and other companies that forgot their roots. You Zarazilla figured out what Google, once again, could not and would not.

how long does it take to "clear data"?
