With a KML file loaded in Google Maps, can I search for an address and maintain the overlay? Officer JMetcalf 5/1/12 1:00 PM
I created this KML file loaded in Google maps

It illustrates our Wichita Police Department beats and I would like to have the ability to enter an address in the search bar and maintain the beat overlays.
I know it is possible in Google earth if the KML file is loaded, but is it possible in Google Maps?

Can't maintain the kml displaying when running the search

But can turn it back on. So load the file. Run the search, then hover over the "Traffic" button under the layer switcher. From there should be able to reenable the KML file. To view the search results and kml together.

That works! Thank you for the response.

Is there a way that I can create a link to the page once I have searched for an address and turned the kml back on? I'd like to be able to send citizens to google maps with the kml enabled and have them search for an address and see what beat the address is on.
