How to plot multiple addresses from an Excel Spreadsheet Shawn LVNV 7/19/10 11:44 AM
I work for a delivery company and am looking for an application or 3rd party site that will allow me to import a spreadsheet of 100+ addresses and plot them to be printed - NOT PUBLISHED.  All of the addresses will be within the same or adjoining zip codes, so I need the ability to print them on detailed, street level maps on as few pages as possible.  Is there an application / 3rd party site that would allow me to do this?  I would need to be able to generate several routes per day.

Thanks.

There are several options but none directly with GoogleMaps.
T
ry one of the following services for mapping batch points.

1. using Mapchannels:http://mapchannels.com/
2. using "batchgeo": http://batchgeocode.com/
3. using Google's Fusion Tables: http://tables.googlelabs.com/

Using ehg's very helpful response above I went to http://tables.googlelabs.com/ and it worked perfectly.

After importing the excel spreadsheet I went to 'edit' > 'modify columns' --> and then selected 'type' drop down changing it to location --> 'save'

'visualize' > 'map' (And now just let it work its magic)

Note: All of my address data was in (1) one cell. I have not tried this process with the city, state, and zip in separate columns.

Great answer !!! I found http://batchgeocode.com/ worked the best for our company customer sales

Wow, jon23781's direction to use visualize > map was truly magic.  Fairfax county lists all of the licensed in home day care providers but there's >50 in my zip code.  Since this let me do it automatically, I found two in-home day care places near my house that I never would have known existed!

trishboss, use the CONCATENATE function in Excel to combine values from multiple cells into one string

Based on the help above I was able to plot all sold and available homes in my neighborhood.
Currently all the homes are "red dots" on the map... can I somehow have red dots if column A = Sold and current green dots if column A = Available?

Hi, this is really good. I am having a problem though. I used http://tables.googlelabs.com/  I am trying to plot a user community for expenses training. Where there are more than one user in a location, it doesn't show more than one record. Any one help?

Thanks ehg & jon23781 - it works well for UK addresses too.

Very nice.  However, I can only "visualize" 20 rows of data on the map.  Is there a limit or am I missing something?
Thanks
