I've always used google for bus routes, and suddenly they don't work anymore. Is this feature under construction, or being removed?

Hi krel420,

I wasn't able to get bus information when I just tried. Thanks for letting us know - the Via Metro feed may not be updated by the agency. We'll check up on it!

Cheers,
Ryan

I'm not sure what's going on there at Google but this feature still has not been fixed. Until it is I can't find reliable info for VIA transit in San Antonio, TX. I know they have their own website but they refer to Google for trip planning and so I'm in this horrble never-ending loop of NO ROUTE AVAILABLE. Or the wonderfully helpful: YOU APPEAR TO BE OUT OF OUR SERVICE AREA. Can somebody PLEASE correct this ASAP? I can't be the only person in all of San Antonio with this problem. However given the fact that it took me two whole hours just to find this site, and only after I got home and logged onto my home computer (I spent three days trying to do it on my phone), I can't imagine too many of them know how to post for help or are easily able to find help...

I am in the same boat. Have to call Via directly for any information. :( Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

Ugh. Same boat here as well. I called VIA and they said that the problem was on Google's end & that everything on their end was working fine.
Geo Ryan, can you confirm or deny this?
And is there any ETA on when this is going to be fixed?

Hi all,

Thanks for your patience and also letting us know this was something you were experiencing. The feed should be back up and running now; can you please let me know if you're still having trouble accessing it?

Ryan

For the past week, every time i use Google maps app on my ZTE android phone; all i get is WALKING, DRIVING, or BIKING info. But not any BUS info. I live in San Antonio, TX. VIA buses run out here, which I use multiple times a day, but whenever i do TRANSIT info it ONLY gives me WALKING directions!!!

I was sent an email from VIA several days ago concerning this and was told "we are working closely with Google to resolve this matter".

What a stupid canned answer!
It is not Google's error, it is VIAs.  They have not posted a new GTFS data file and the one posted has expired.
VIA is about to go through the largest expansion since the late 70's, starting on Dec. 17.
That is the problem.  VIA will not tell you this, however, because they are as tight-lipped about internal affairs as the Obama administration is about Benghazi.  VIA, despite everything, is still stuck in the 70's.  They will have a new data file up as soon as the 22 chain smoking secretaries finish typing it up on their IBM Selectric typewriters.
