|Google is being manipulated (i.e., played) by trying to be neutral||Seporad||5/5/12 9:06 PM|
When Google removes the name "Persian Gulf" from its maps it is unequivocally being as biased as it claims it is avoiding. For hundreds, and actually thousands, of years this body of water has been known by no name other than an adjective synonymous with "Persian", in every map ever produced.
Now that Iran (formerly called Persia until 1935) is a relative pariah to the free world, opportunists seek to take advantage (believe me, this author has no love for the current Iranian regime). The so called "dispute" was manufactured with a lot of financial backing by rich Arab states in the past 3 decades only.
If Google really seeks to remain neutral, then do exactly that: do not change the name that has never really changed. By removing it, Google has precisely moved away from neutral and played in the hands of those who would erase history with money.
