|Street view embed takes focus in Internet Explorer||dave.bonds||6/16/10 3:55 PM|
Summarize the issue:
Embedded Google Street View map will take focus on any page it is used in Internet Explorer only.
I have the Street View embedded on pages for home listings. Instead of staying at the top of the page, IE will automatically scroll to the location of the embedded map when it is loaded. Visit http://www.moxleyteam.com/listings/383-christina-court-pleasanton/ in IE to see.
This occurs on all pages where Street view is used. Take a look at http://www.moxleyteam.com/featured-listings/ and view any of the listings to see the issue.
Link to the map or business listing in question if applicable:
Thanks for any help you can provide!

although I have to confirm this happens with your above website in IE8 but not with FF or Chrome I don't believe and I'm very much doubting it is a GoogleMaps issue.
If websites are differently displayed with different browsers this is caused mostly by any invalid Html coding of the website.
Note several browsers are differently sensitive to invalidations of the Pagecoding.
Therefore I tried to validate your website using the Html validator page as in getting the website can't validated due to an serious coding error (see the explaining message bottom of )
So at first make page valid then see what happens.

OK. Fixed the UTF-8 encoding error that was disallowing the validation. And fixed all other validation errors. The only invalid code is now the Street View embed code or a YouTube embed code, which I didn't write. The code is straight from Google, but both are showing errors in the validator.
Street view problem still exists.

unfortunately I have at the moment strange difficulties to even create very simple websites with embedded streetview maps.
No idea why?
Even using your same Html code (extracted from your website) or an other previewed streetveiw code of the same location in pleasanton I dont get the streetviews shown at all. See bottom the website in (to simulate being the "streetview" map bottom the page I put some stuff images on top of the page).
I will ask my co-contributors here - hoping they have an idea about your & my problem.

This is really aggravating.

I am glad that I have found someone else with the same problem. It was driving me crazy. The google maps work fine, it is just the street view that takes the focus. It is a real pain. If you have any further updates, please let me know.

Still no updates. Still having the problem and have no idea what to do.
Glad to see it's not just me.

I have a very bare bones HTML example and it does it as well in IE8 Win7. But it doesn't always do it. Sometimes if I hit refresh or just visit it again. Im not talking about violent repeated refreshing that would break the rendering either. Just one casual refresh.

OK basic html. I see it works now.
I'm using it on WordPress. Could it be a WP conflict? or a WP plugin conflict?
@nwkmedia are you using WordPress?
|Re: Street view embed takes focus in Internet Explorer||dave.bonds||8/6/10 12:04 AM|
Actually @dralzero.. the Street View on the example you gave has no controls. Zooming, panning, moving around. WTF?

Yes, I first noticed it using wordpress, but I have also tried it in a normal html page (http://www.thesussexguild.co.uk/index3.html), with the same results. I am using XP and IE8.

I have the same problem please help.

I have the same problem, and it is not related to the HTML page (or WordPress), it's and unwanted and disrupting "feature" of Street View. Google please fix this: it's a BUG in real web page usage. Nobody wants a web page to scroll to the bottom automatically.

I'm experiencing the same problem with a site I'm currently working on. Haven't been able to find a solution, but have kinda used a workaround.
Not an ideal solution, but until Google or Microsoft fix this isssue (if ever!!) then it's the only workaround I can think of..

Hope this helps.
