Why can I save only points on the map, not county or city boundaries?

Why can I save only points on the map, not county or city boundaries? Wash. Health Initiative 6/13/12 10:53 AM
When I search for my county (Washtenaw County, Michigan, USA), the map result shows two things: a light-red county border and a single red point on the map. When I 'save to my maps', it only saves the point, NOT the boundary. I would like to save the boundary (NOT redraw it). How can I do this?

Thank you.

you can't (yet) do this directly (the main reason is: Google doesn't or can't or isn't permitted providing the KML of suche boundary lines)
But you can do as I did - creating a sample.
I made a search for Berlin, Germany  getting the Boundary of Berlin.
I then saved the result - getting my custom map "Berlin" (no boundaries as you mentioned)
I then edited the saved marker in a specific manner (how i did this  is described in the describtion of the saved and edited map).
Best Regards
