I get no further than a splash page which says Google with 3 dots moving below. The old maps also hang since a few weeks.
It just frustrates! I have a Mac OS 10.8.3 and use Firefox 21.0.
I browsed through quite some internet pages , but do not see a solution.

Have you tried using Chrome or Safari? I have personally experienced many issues with the new Google Maps and Firefox which is why I'm asking. Works very well under webkit browsers such as Safari and Chrome.

Daniel, hi! Are you involved in the Google Latitude at all? There has been a forum on problems accessing Google Latitude with some users. All my contacts are gone and no one can see me...even for some of the contacts which logins are still working fine. We haven't heard from Google nor have encountered any patterns that gives us a hint on how to fix the issue... thx

In the end there were 2 ways out: 1. use Safari 2. reinializing Firefox also worked.

Can someone reading this thread please tell me how they managed to lose access to the new maps so that I can do that! The new changes rolled out today are just incredibly bad.

As noted elsewhere, it doesnt appear your actully using the "new maps" - the preview noted here.
You are already using the 'Classic Maps', no there is nothing to revert.
Its just that the styling has been changed - even in Classic. But classic has no revert options.

I just experienced this problem. All of the other suggested fixes would not work. Only fix that worked for me was the "Click on the link in your email invite". Thanks.
