|Associate broadcast with a different youtube account||ingenthr||6/14/12 4:13 PM|
I did a test hangout earlier today and everything went reasonably well except one issue. I'd like to broadcast via a different youtube account/channel than my own.* I do have the credentials for the channel, but I don't see a way to set that up. I'd like to be me in the hangout, if possible.
Thanks in advance,
* The channel is: http://www.youtube.com/user/CouchbaseVideo?feature=mhee

The article here outlines this process, which basically does not allow what you're proposing. We've gotten a lot of feedback around this issue, though, so do know we are aware of the need.

Thanks for the reply, but unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. I suspect the issue may be that the youtube channel is owned by an account that does not have G+ membership.
Here are the steps I tried, and maybe you can help me with something I've missed or confirm I've done things correctly.
At this step, it shows that it'll go to my personal YouTube page, not the one with the account I'd first signed in as. We tried a test broadcast anyway, and sure enough, it did not work.
Now I'm in a bit of a catch-22, since the youtube channel is owned by something that's not a real person, so I shouldn't join it to G+. How can I broadcast to this channel though?
Thanks in advance for any additional help,

Hey Matt -
The email address associated with the correct YouTube account does need to have it's own Google+ account. Then you can add that Google+ account as a +Page manager. Sign in to Google+ with that correct account, open the +Page, and start the hangout. Then when you enable Hangouts On Air, it should be linked to the correct account.
Does that help?

Unfortunately, I'm not sure it does.
The Google+ profile name guidelines wouldn't allow me to create a Google+ account for this YouTube account. The account on YouTube predates Google+, so you see why I'm kind of stuck.
I don't want to become someone else, but the account that isn't someone is the place we'd like the video to end up. I can't post to that YouTube account as myself though.
Am I missing something?

Hi Matt -
You can use your real name for the Google+ profile associated with the correct YouTube account, add that profile as a +Page manager, and then broadcast from the +Page. Since you're broadcasting as the +Page, no one would see the Google+ profile account. Make sense?

Maybe. Then I'd have two Google+ profiles, but just ignore one of them?
Will give that a shot.
