Enable viewers to filter results of a published map KJCos 8/17/12 3:05 AM
Hi guys

Is it possible to allow a published map to be filtered by viewers of a website? So the FT is embedded as a map in my website but I would like to allow users to filter the results. I've seen it done on other websites but I am not sure if it can be done with FT or if it involves complicated API's?

Thanks for any guidance

:)

Yes, it's possible, but it will involve Javascript and the Google Maps API. But that doesn't need to scare you off.

You might find the Fusion Tables Layer Wizard allows you to set up the page to your liking. It allows you to add a filter option. I recommend using it in conjunction with the Classic look.

If you're looking for something more involved and you've seen a model you like, you might try modeling after what they've done.

Hope that helps,

-Rebecca

Hi Rebecca,

Unfortunately, the Location column is permanently greyed out for me. I'm sure i'm missing something simple, but am unsure what it is!
Any help you can offer would be great!

Thanks,
Jamie

Jamie - Are you talking about the FusionTablesLayer wizard?

Make sure the table is Public or Unlisted, and try hitting return after entering the table ID. It can take a moment to load, as it goes to get the columns from the table and then activates the Location button.

Hope that helps,
