Really great idea Gerardo! I love the way this makes the GE flight simulator seem even more realistic.

I would now like to remove the image of the cockpit from my Google Earth and can't figure out how to turn it off. Please tell me what control to use.

Thanks for bringing this great experience to us! It works perfectly, and really reminds me of Microsoft Flight simulator X Acceleration ! ( Even though the Fighter on that is an F/A-18)

If anybody could help me with advise how can I efficiently uninstall it from my computer?

Hi Catona and welcome to GE
Quote:Actually you don't need to uninstall anything, simply do as following

Gerardo, you are wonderful - or, I am stupid. Doesn't matter. It works.

Here it is the other plane cockpit for the GE FS.
Works the same way as the F-16
Aquí está la cabina para el otro avión del SV GE
Funciona de la misma manera que la del F-16

i use a 1200x900 resolution and the overlay is a bit small. therefore my question if you plan to release additional resolutions?

Thanks so much for these Gerardo!

I was having so much fun using your F16 Cockpit and someone had asked whether they could see the aircraft I went ahead and created a wingman view of a F16 flying ahead.
It was really just to see if it could be done and how it would look so it is really only a prototype. Ideally, if I had my own image, I would edit out the undercarriage and make the background transparent but I had to rely on an online image at this time.
I couldn't seem to be able to create a new topic so I hope you don't mind me hopping onto yours. Hopefully, since they work well together, it should bring some focus back to your original creation.
It is unfortunate there is no central file library where addons such as these can be easily located.
I hope the link shows up somewhere. 1110020-F-16wingmanLeft.kml

I have used your idea to create a different version of the F-16 cockpit. Take a look:
See ya . . .

I think I did it.
Take a look here:

This is an image of the latest version of aircraft views from the cockpit. I now use offline images on my hard drive instead of web based images which makes it possible to make the backgrounds of the images transparent.
This view has a F16 ahead left and a KC135 tanker ahead in preparation for midair refueling. I also have the HUD instrumentation located within the HUD graticule of Gerardo's F16 cockpit(not shown in this image).

This is an updated image which includes the HUD display.

Hi Gerardo, um can you make a version of a wing view of a passenger plane? or you can explain to me how to change pictures in the kml? please help me.
|Re: F-16 Cockpit for GE Flight Simulator - Cabina F-16||Andy W||4/15/09 2:49 AM|
I don't know whether Gerardo still follows the thread but this is what you need to do to modify the wingman view kml file I uploaded for the image you want to display.
Open the wingman kml file with wordpad or other editor and change the link to the image in this line
to the image you want to display on the web
or if its an image on your computer that only you will be using
Using an image on your local drive is handy where you may want to edit an image you find on the web, such as making the background transparent, without the need to upload it somewhere which may involve copyright issues or getting permission.
You may also need to change how the image displays onscreen by changing the image size in this line
<size x="260" y="109" xunits="pixels" yunits="pixels"/>
If my image was 800 x 400 I would make it display at 200 x 100, or 100 x 50 if I wanted it to look further away.
I also have a helicopter and an underwater ROV I use offline so using offline images is quite handy.

I would simply download and use the ScreenOverlayMaker.exe. It's pretty much intuitive and you can make several image adjustments.
I've attached a sample file showing a wing view on an Embraer 170 jet.
|Re: F-16 Cockpit for GE Flight Simulator - Cabina F-16||Andy W||4/16/09 3:13 AM|
That utility actually works quite well, even with offline images as I prefer to use.
I guess because I started out looking at the code in the kml files themselves I went directly to the kml reference material and took it from there. I also went on to use the <folder> tag to include a number of image overlays in the one kml.
I'll be checking out your Embraer shortly.
