I'm planning to use some screencaps for Google Earth for a not for profit, educational project as examples of map making. I have modified the images slightly to include routes and indicate landmarks. The images will appear in a pdf document that will be downloadable. I've looked at the permissions section of the website and the question as to whether I can use these images is ambiguous, so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the situation. At present, there are no Google logos on the image, but that's easily rectified.

Hi, have you looked at the permissions tool? That's all the information Google provides I'm afraid. So long as you include attribution, I wouldn't see a problem, but I'm not a lawyer, nor do I work for Google.
If you haven't already done so, do have a look at at the Google Earth Outreach and education pages, you may be entitled to a grant for Google Earth Pro, or you may find other items of interest there.
