I'm using the latest Safari browser on the Yosemite operating system. For the past two days, googledrive locks up after every action and I have to reload the page to do the next action. This is tedious. What is the issue?

Ms. Drasby,Clearing the History did not help (I do that each time I leave an application, but I did it again with no results.)I'm not sure what you mean by using Safari in private mode.(Note: I have made no updates to Safari recently and things were working on Friday.)The problem continues to happen both on my iMac and my Macbook.I have Chrome on my Macbook, but I do not like the user interface so strongly prefer to use Safari. I do NOT wish to put Chrome on my iMac. Pam

I've got the same thing. Only been using Safari for 2 weeks so can't comment whether this is a long term thing.

I have tried these steps as well, and they do not fix the problem or change the situation.

Ms. Drasby,  I submitted both a chat request and an email problem report to the Drive specialists. They sent an email acknowledging my request. The email says an agent will reply in 24-48 hours.

Hi, I had a run through with a Drive specialist and changed my browser from Safari to Firefox. It seems to be working now, but I prefer to use Safari. That meens that the problem really is not solved yet. If so many people are experiencing this same problem there must be a compatability problem that needs to be issued. The users should not have to change browsers.

For what it's worth, I use Drive in Safari all day, every day, Safari hasn't been updated in a couple of months, and this issue with things becoming un-clickable in Drive has only been persistent over the last two weeks – so it seems to be a problem with Drive, since it's the only thing that could have changed in the period of time I've been having this problem. I've got a Google Apps account, so I'll try giving them a call and see what they say.

Got the same exact issue. Started couple of weeks ago, no changes or updates made on safari. Did anyone find a solution yet?

I finally heard from a googledrive specialist, but all he did was ask me more questions. So far, there is no solution.

I will continue with the tedious page reloads which, to me, is better than having to install an additional browser.

I, too, am using a MacBook Air OS X 10.11.5  Safari 9.1.1    I MUCH prefer using Safari to Chrome or Firefox, but I have the same issues with Drive.  This just began recent;y.

Update (still no resolution). I have answered a series of questions and given a screenshot to the Google Support Team. They said the Pages file I was trying to click looked "corrupted." This is unlikely since none of my other software has issues with it and also when I reload the page on googledrive I can then click on that same file. Also, the problem is lockups on all types of files and folders. One member of the support team asked for my phone number and a time when I was available. I gave it to him and he replied that he is only available from 11pm-8am. Grrr. This does not seem reasonable to me. 

I'm curious is anyone having trouble opening up the Finder on your Mac? Example: real sluggish, showing empty screen and etc...?

I am NOT having any problems with Finder on my 2 Macs (iMac, MacBook). The only problems I am having is with googledrive locking up.

I have no trouble with the Finder on any of our Macs.

Pam-3, same issues here.  Like you, I do not wish to use a browser for this app and a browser for that.  That is the inflexible corporate way of doing things, multiple browsers.  I have to use three at work to do my tasks.This sounds like a google drive/apps issue.  There are numerous people elsewhere online reporting the same issue had begun in early July and late June.If you can, stick with google support and keep us updated.Thanks.

BobN151, I am on my second member from the Google Support team. He has forwarded the issue to what he calls their specialists to see what "advanced steps" they can use to resolve the problem. I do plan to provide an update to this thread when (if) I get one. I did mention to him that there are numerous persons and threads related to the same issue. 

Also have this issue. It's very annoying and has been happening for over a week now. Only a page refresh solves it for a couple of clicks and then nothing. Tried private mode, clearing cache etc.

I have had the same problem pop up as of a couple weeks ago. Chrome is so heavy on my system that if I have it open for more than 10 minutes my entire laptop starts skipping and freezing every time I tell it to do something, my RAM goes down from a running level of 3GB to 600MB just from Chrome and nothing else. But, Google Drive doesn't work with Safari any more. I have to keep reloading the page after every action I execute, like clicking on a link.

Hi, same problem with Safari freezing in Drive after three clicks. Every time. For a couple of weeks now. Please provide support to Safari users. Do not force us to use chrome, it is not energy sufficient, I get 1 more hour of battery a day using Safari. Do not want to switch.

I currently only have 1 extension installed, that I rarely use.

I have tried to uninstall them all. And also the plugins. Nothing helps. I get two clicks and the third one is a miss.

Hi everyone the Google Team was notified about this issue. While they are looking into the problem there are a couple of work arounds you could use. Some users are having success with using the Chrome or Firefox Browsers. Other uses are using the scroll arrows to maneuver around the screen and pressing enter to open the folder or file.

I am having the same issue.  So are my business partners.  Drive sucks.  I can't do business if I can't reach any of my documents.  This is terrible.

I am experiencing these same issues of: Inability to click open files. Inability to click open folders. Inability to move documents between varying folders, etc. Sometimes these functions work for one or two steps, and then my Google Drive freezes. These issues began for me on 7/8 and it was working fine before then.I'm also using OSX El Capitan Version 10.11.5 and Safari Browser  version 9.1.1FYI everyone, I found that if I reload the page, I can then usually complete the task that Google Drive wouldn't allow me to before. For example, if I'm trying to open a document and it won't let me, I reload the page and then I can successfully open that document. Not a long term solution, but it's allowing me to access the documents I need for now.

I see improvements. I can now click even afber I've clicked two times and sometimes it works. Plus using arrows and ENTER really makes things a little bit more bearable. 

I have the same OS and browser El Capitan, 10.11.5, Safari Version 9.1.1 (11601.6.17).  I am still experiencing the problem as of yesterday.   In regards to the suggestion to use Chrome for the Mac as a work around for Safari. This is most difficult to do since using multiple browsers is an integral part of my daily work.  I use Safari for somethings and Chrome for others, sometimes with different logins into the same websites.  Changing out browsers is not an option for me. 

I'm using El Capitan one one machine and Yosrmite on another. Latest version of Safari. Also issue with Chrome.

My issues seem to be resolved as of this morning (GMT). Google drive has behaved impeccably so far and I have been moving files and folders extensively.

Hooray!  Mine seems to be working correctly now, too!  

Googledrive appears to be working now with Safari. Here are some thoughts about the process in the forum. (1) I never did hear back from the Drive specialists that they had fixed the problem. Based on what they told, I expected that they would let me know of the fix. (2) Since I originated this thread, I think I should have had a say about what was the best answer to the problem I reported. (3) I felt as though people high-jacked my thread to report other problems which may or may not have been related to googledrive locking up (ex. clicking on labels in Wordpress - I had no issues with Wordpress.)

Yes, Joseph. It seems to be working fine now. We never did hear what they did to get it working, but, for now, all seems well.
