My organization has a Group called "Big Group" that contains 20 members. In Documents, I have set the Share settings of File101 to allow Big Group to view the file; however, the individual members of Big Group are unable to see File101 in their Documents List.
Instead, I must share File101 explicitly with each of the 20 members of Big Group. For a group with 100+ members, this would be a nightmare.

Do you have "Big Group" as a contact list in your Google Contacts? If you add them there... that should work!

My Users and Groups have been set up through Google Apps for Business. Through that, I have also set the appropriate permissions, as seen below.
Settings > Docs > General:
Under Document Visibility I have set access to: "This organization (People at this organization can find and access.)"
Even with these settings, people at the organization can find and access. With this set, I don't think additional Share settings should be required from within Documents. Either way, the only way my users have been able to see anything in the Documents List is with explicit individual permission.
Perhaps this is a Google Apps bug instead.

Well... they can find it, yes. However, I don't know whether it gets automagically added to their list as it does with sharing...
As I said, if you create a contact list with everyone from the company, that should make this a non-issue...
Sorry that the language wasn't clear in the instructions! (Although, I have no say in what Google Doc help articles contain...)

I still believe this is a bug.
I have a document whose share settings declare "People at [organization name] can find and access." In reality, no one in my organization can find or access it.
It would be redundant to need to create a contact list for everyone I want to use this document, when the expected behaviour is that giving that Group access would do that. It is counter-intuitive this way. Others in my organization are creating documents, expecting the Group to be able to share them. Expecting them to know they need to create a special contact list for sharing documents is odd.

Seems like this is a common problem since 2009. Any solutions yet?
