| Sheets performance worse with more shared users? | Des Conlon | 04/09/18 03:32 | I have a 1.5MM sheet that takes a while to load initially in browser but its manageable. As I add more view only users to this sheet and they use things like filter views etc should I expect performance to get significantly worse? In other words, how does Google Sheets scale the computing power given to a sheet as more users are added? If its just allocate a fixed amount regardless of user levels I guess performance will get worse? |

View Only users should not affect performance. As Filter Views are user specific, I imagine the hit on performance will be minimal. I guess the engine has to assist with the filter processing, but it only has to communicate back to the one user. No idea how it queues simultaneous users applying filter views - tough question! Do I read you correctly that the Sheet is 1.5 million cells? That's a large sheet, and is within striking distance of the 2 million cell limit (includes empty cells). Keep you eye on that number and don't let it get too close. You're in un-charted waters if you accidentally go over the limit. Others may have more to say! Best, Lance |
