non transparent backgrounds in empty ad slots. Lennox1980 5/16/12 7:06 PM

Good morning,

We recently switched to asynchronous ad tags.

We now have an issue in IE that when no ads are present the empty ad slots appear white and not transparent?

This is really noticeable against the blue colour scheme. How we can make the iframe backgrounds transparent?

Again, everything appear fines in chrome, firefix, safari and even older versions of Internet Explorer.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Cheers - appreciate the help.

Can anyone help me out here?

Perusing the forums, it seems that returning to the older synchronous ad tags is the way to go..

Cheers,

you don't have to use the older tags (aka GAM tags)...I do personally recommend the synchronous GPT tags over the asynchronous ones...I've just seen too many issues with the async tags.

either way...use this in your code:

googletag.pubads().collapseEmptyDivs();

put it right before this...do NOT vary this placement!  :-)

googletag.enableServices();

this should make your empty divs just disappear...no gaps, no white holes...just gone.

you should be able to use those with async if you still want to use those tags...not positive since I nearly never use them, but I think they work with any GPT tags.
