|Asking To Verify Feedburner.com Ownership||excranz||12/9/11 8:38 PM|
I'm love love loving everything about Currents and decided to finally make use of the ability to have RSS feeds for various categories on my site. So I whipped up three new RSS feeds (using Feedsburner) and added them to my Currents edition. Only problem is nothing from those feeds is appearing in Currents and Currents is asking that I verify ownership of the site. Specifically it's asking that I verify ownership of Feedsburner.
Any tips on how to fix this? Should I simply delete those three sections are start all over?

Hi excranz. Thanks for the kind words!
Hmm, we should be resolving feedburner feeds to the appropriate domain and asking you to verify ownership of that domain. Can you post a link to your edition and / or the three feed URLs in question?

i noticed that you have to delete the default section and create a new feed with your actual feedburner url in order for it to be read.

Hmm - I just made a test section with your first feed url, and it asked me to verify videogramewriters.com not feedburner.
(I tried with a brand new edition, a new section, and an existing section)
Could you maybe try re-adding the section?
If it still says feedburner again, can you send me the name of your edition so I can take a deeper look?
I'm not having any luck reproducing this :(

Fascinating. I deleted and then re-added the breaking news section (using "pull from feed and crawl source url for extra media" as I did before) and then went to Content ownership. "Complete."
I wonder if the Feedburner feeds were too new when I created the original edition.
I'll keep an eye on it, thanks so much for your reply.

I'm having this problem now as well. The first edition had the verification issue, but I did as VideoGameWriter recommended, and the edition did validate. Now I've updated the feeds a little here and there to get a better presentation, but once again I'm getting the issue, only this time it isn't going away.
Thanks so much!

I am having the same problem too. I tried to add http://feeds.feedburner.com/ff/mactalks into an edition called "MacTalks" and had problem verifying it. The "delete and add again" technique tried but no luck.

I too have this problem. When I try to add my feeds.feedburner.com/[my feed] for an edition, everything goes smoothly (articles appear, I can edit, etc.) until I try to PUBLISH/VERIFY. Google takes me through the steps of verifying "feeds.feedburner.com" and not the actual link for my feed. Has anyone been able to find a solution/workaround. Can't generate a direct link to distribute without verification, amongst other woes.
Plz help :)

Ok, I have to admit, I absolutely hate feed verification. We have the feature in place because we don't want random people to be able to steal your content. That's a good thing :) But at the same time, it always causes so many issues and seems to be incredibly flaky. Alas, I have no real code fixes that will help. Anyway, for now....
Fred Jame - can you use the non-feedburner version? http://www.rakunamac.tw/?feed=atom
EvanD and mrKnott - is there any way to use non-feedburner domain feeds?
If not, can you please send me your feed urls and I'll try to find another workaround.

I can verify and use any feed from the sites I built without problem.
The thing is that the feed I have problem with is an aggregated feed from a few dozen sites (it's an aggregated news media feed which I have permission from the respective owners of individual sites; rakunanmac.tw is just one of them), so for now it's not possible to verify with the current method.

mrKnott - when I added a test section with your feed, the verification url came up as varysymbol.com, so you just need to try the delete-and-recreate trick. if you make a new section with that feed, everything should work out.
Fred Jame - ok, that makes some sense. maybe thats why currents can't figure out the domain you need to verify. if the source of the feedburner feed is multiple domains, we probably just don't have a way to handle that. i'll file a bug. until then, hopefully you can use the non-aggregated versions... :(

Cassie - that did it:) thanks again for your help!

The deleting and recreating RSS method worked for me (and using the pull from feed and crawl source url for extra media option) . I thought it was strange that the process asked to verify the feedburner URL. The only thing that's not working for me is the full article and pictures showing up.
